Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Ah f**k, might be best to rest him against Swansea even if it's just a niggle

Agreed, for the first time in years I feel confident of dropping out first choice striker for a game. That being said I wasn't confident with our first choice striker for the last 2 seasons either

Bloody international football wants banning, long with the imprisonment of Blatter & that french fool.

"Diego Costa: Chelsea striker out of Spain Euro 2016 qualifier

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been ruled out of Spain's Euro 2016 qualifying opener with Macedonia on Monday with a hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old injured himself in Thursday's 1-0 defeat by France and was replaced in the 67th minute.

Summer signing Costa, who has scored four goals in three Chelsea games, has only won five caps for Spain having switched his allegiance from Brazil.

He has been replaced in the squad by Barcelona teenager Munir El Haddadi.

A Spanish football federation statement read: "Diego Costa has a myofascial injury to his hamstring muscle in his left thigh. The injury was detected with an MRI scan after the player expressed some discomfort during yesterday's match against France."

"All the tests carried out by the medical staff will be sent to Chelsea."

Last week, Jose claimed an injury to Costa. Why didn't he say the same & stopped him from flirting in these f**king friendly games? Now, Chelsea might suffer because he became injured.

Well he could hardly stop him going to Spain after man of match display at Everton and we needed him there as game came before remy...hope injury is as severe as pre Everton was, but at least we have remy in now...any doubt about costa should see him rested for Swansea and schalke...not arrogant at all, but we have the players that can win two home games without him...man city away on sep 21 on the other hand...

This hamstring thing is doing my head in

I'm angry but at least we don't have f**king Torres this time to start like we all feared last time.

But that being said we haven't seen Remy play for us yet and jesus I hate international friendlies I really do, he really shouldn't have went.

Given the clubs recent trouble free history with strikers (Casaraghi, Torres, Sheva, Mutu and so on and so on) it is frankly preposterous for supporters to worry about our latest 32 million pound centre forward suffering two hamstring injury scares in 10 days, especially as it was way way back in May that he struggled with the same injury. I'm sure Michael Owen amongst others can vouch for the fact that persistent hamstring trouble can not possibly have a detrimental effect on a players career. So let us all be utterly convinced that this is nothing at all and completely disregard the reports. There is no need whatsoever to be in the slightest bit worried.

In before Remy gets injured in the next France game, can't wait for the apocalypse that would go off in here.

We have king Didier don't worry.....

Still angry at Atletico's stupidity last season - what was it, three games in a row where he got subbed off for hamstring injury yet they just kept picking him?

Agreed! They knew he was gone anyway and decided to risk him. Not very nice but what can you do? Most clubs I think would do the same.

Edit: And let's be clear, I am sure Costa and most players would want to push on and play through anyway. Well maybe Lukaku wouldn't, haha. I am joking.

Sturridge would not, slightest niggle & it's, I am out, jumps on the treatment table for a week to be on the safe side.

David Silva has relieved the worries of Chelsea supporters by playing down Diego Costa's hamstring injury.

The Spain hitman picked up the problem while on international duty and left the Spanish squad ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against Macedonia to recover.

Costa has four goals in his first three Premier League games, making a lightning start to his career at Stamford Bridge, but it was feared he could miss the trip to Everton last weekend with an injury and this new blow is a problem he suffered last season with Atletico Madrid.

However, Spain team-mate and Manchester City playmaker David Silva does not believe the injury is particularly bad - raising hopes that Costa could be fit to face Swansea at Stamford Bridge next weekend, as well as Silva's Manchester City a week later.

'I saw Costa was doing well and I talked to him. The injury is nothing serious,' Silva said.

Spain flopped at the World Cup with Costa leading the line and struggled to create chances in their 1-0 friendly defeat to France, again with Costa up front. But Silva says slowly but surely La Roja are getting used to his style of play.

'We are trying to connect with Costa. We’re on it,' Silva said.
