I would disagree if hodgson decided he wanted to try a young centre back like stones but the fact jagielka will probably be partnering cahill at the age of 31 makes the decision to not try and convince jt out of retirement very strange. Why would you not want the best centre back pairing in the premier league playing?

John Terry has been thrown under the bus, put on a show trial in a magistrates court, found innocent in said magistrates court, thrown under the bus again for apparently causing the resignation of Capello, had his reputation dragged through all manner of fecal matter by the media, and has been forced to watch his club mates be picked off from England's squad.

The FA can go f**k itself. JT gave them his all every game he played for them.

Capello quit as England manager because the FA usurped his authority as England manager when they forced the resignation of his best center-back. There are fewer things more insulting to a person, let alone an Italian, to usurp their decisions and tell them their opinions do not matter.

The FA caved into media pressure and axed one of their best leaders for the sake of being kid-friendly and more important Scouse-friendly. Looking nice and acting nice is all and well but it doesn't guarantee you f**king success.

I feel for JT that he isn't going to a world cup when he deserves to go but from a CFC perspective we have him all to ourselves this summer. He can go away and have a holiday and a rest before pre season and come back and once again be the best CB in the league

'It's part of the job of the coach to work with the players. Why are we paying him (Hodgson) X amount of pounds? Everyone can get them tactically right. Pick a team of your best players, get them into a shape and say, "Go and play and rah rah rah".

Suddenly his 20% winning rate with Portsmouth and Wycombe makes a lot of sense...

I suspect if Hodgson had his way JT would be going to the World Cup. He's not an idiot. It's interesting that both he and Capello backed him and ditched Rio when it would have been much easier to do the opposite. Too much water under the bridge now though.

Due to the FA's determination to appease the mob and punish Terry for something he was acquitted of in a law court, we'll be going to a World Cup without one of the few world class players we actually have. And Phil Jagielka will be in his place. Still, England's loss is Chelsea's gain.

By dropping Cole and not even considering JT, Roy has the excuse made up for the failure - this is a team for the future, not now.

Our gain, he will be refreshed and roaring to go next season.

Still can't believe that the FA disregarded their own rules to ensure JT was found guilty. Ridiculous organisation.

Put me right off wanting England to do well at the World Cup. In fact,I hope they crash and burn (which they probably will).

The BBC or ITV could have had him on their panel. They have had no problem using a ManU player done for racially abusing an England teammate, while committing on-field GBH and boasting about it in his autobiography was no barrier to Roy Keane getting a job, so I wonder why JT has not yet had the invite.

Its the right decision for me. JT going would have created a media circus, Im sure Hodgson doesnt want that and I'm sure JT doesnt want every little bit of his past written about for the next month or so. Plus we get a fit capatin ready for the start of the season. England will tank anyway, not like he'll be the difference between us winning it or not

Whenever JT has talked about England, hes always, understandably, hacked off with it all. Given the lengths that the FA went to make sure that he was hung, drawn and quarted, it does not surprise me one bit.

JT should not go anywhere near them. This England team will do very poor at the WC. They will get out of their group, at best.

I do feel sorry for JT, one of the most passionate and committed players ever to wear an England shirt, let alone one of the most talented centre backs the nation's ever produced.

Ultimately it's the FA's loss. One rule for some, as always.

I know without a doubt that he would love to be there, but his absence is gonna prolong his Chelsea career... where he makes his money, so I dont think he will be too upset about it all.

I dont see England getting out of the group stages anyway!

The Hodge has made some very good moves with the England squad. I am excited about the youth injected into the team. I don't expect nothing but we have cried for youth to be given a chance and now they shall. Terry not being selected is however is a case of shooting yourself in the foot. I hate that people keep saying he retired, as if to say he just gave up on England. He was a public hanging by the F.A. and demonized in every social media outlet for months. He was forced into England retirement. Sad he won't be with England but happy we still have him at the Bridge. Greatest captain ever.

After the FA's handling of the whole business, I pretty much gave up bothering about the national side. They took a man who was found not guilty by the law of the land, and decided to throw him to the 3 lions, (Papers, TV and Radio) so they could rip him to bits. The only thing the FA were/are interested in, is not upsetting their precious sponsors who would not have wanted a bigoted thuggish racist to be seen wearing an England shirt. After all, they already had a player who was caught on cctv assaulting a barman in a nightclub and another one who had cheated on his Mrs by going to ageing prostitutes on more than one occasion!!!!.....  however, they obviously decided that these two shining examples were much better suited to represent their country (even as captain) than JT?  I would bet my life that Hodgson was told in no uncertain terms by his boss's " Don't even entertain the idea of asking him to come out of retirement, We have shirts to sell and people to appease".

I have shed many tears over England losing in world cups on many occasions in the past, but not this year,in fact, to use the words of Rhet Butler,......" Frankly My dear, I don't give a damn".
