Good move for Ashley, Roma is in the CL so that he can still play at the highest level. Also, Seria A tends to have a bit more older players than BPL so thats an advantage for him too. I'm sure he will do great there. Best of luck to him!

Still sad to see him leave and not have another year - but I'm happy he will be starting for a large profile team in a major league.  Doubly glad he isn't going to the Republic of Liverpool.

I'd be gutted if he went to a PL rival, more so than Mata to Man U (and I was devastated at the time) or if Luiz had stayed in England.

Apparently he took a massive wage cut.... seems abit silly we didnt keep him if so.

He didnt play a great deal last season. Once Dave got that spot he pretty much kept it. Maybe Ash wanted more game time or something like that.

Does he have a chance of winning trophies at Roma? I don't follow the Italian league at all... the last time I did AC Milan were the best team... And that was obviously during Carlo's reign.

2nd best team in Italy right now behind Juventus, not sure anyone can topple Juventus in the league but he might have a shot at the domestic cups. 

Juve are by far the best team. Roma and Napoli are fighting for 2nd best.

Its not like Roma would ever win the CL either. It just seemed strange for him to go to Italy. We have no idea what other offers he had but I thought someone like Monaco or an american team would have made him a good offer.

Maybe he just liked the idea of living in Italy/Rome for a couple of years.

 

It's a great city and maybe the idea of being there is what appealed most rather than money.. I mean it's not like he's short of a few bob is it. 

I guess he see it as a chance to play and live in a nicer country than England.
