Following Patrick Bamford's interview where he said that the club have alluded to him potentially being made 3rd choice striker next season I thought it would be interesting to find out which of our young strikers fellow Chelsea fans would like to be given the chance next season Bamford or Lukaku.

Purely hypothetical of course but which of the two would you prefer to see given a chance and no, you can't say both!

Lukaku, we have spent so much money on him and he has had 2 very successful seasons on loan in the prem. Bamford is also still far behind Lukaku in quality.

ehem... that title made me laugh a bit.. no disrespect to Bamford, he's done well on loan but he still has a long way to go to be on Lukaku's level, that said, Lukaku still has a long way to go to lead Chelsea's attack.

While I agree that Lukaku is that much advanced experience wise than Bamford, if Jose is still going to play a high pressing game

then IMO Lukaku is not the one for him, as he is a lazy player in them circumstances, where as Bamford is a high energy player

more suited to a pressing game.

not even a question. bamford has not played above championship level, and he only has 6 months at that level. lukaku has spent 2 years in the prem, only one is ready to play regularly for us

Since everyone voted for Torres over sturridge, I No longer trust the forum vote so bamford

But really one does Not exclude the other

I guess the full implications of a choice between bamford and Lukaku are...

Do we want Bamford to feature, in which case the strike force will be two top class strikers and an inexperienced third:

Costa, Mandzukic and Bamford

Or do we want Lukaku to feature, in which case the strike force consists of a top class striker, a good striker and a third choice/versatile forward:

Costa/Mandzukic, Lukaku, and 'striker x' (Firmino? Torres? Ba? Lavezzi?)

You'd think it unlikely that Mourinho will go with Costa/Mandzukic, Lukaku and Bamford in a year where, like another poster commented somewhere, he has set himself up for judgement.

Both:

1) Costa AND Mandzukic, Bamford

2) Costa OR Mandzukic, Lukaku, striker x

seem attractive possibilities to me, but personally, I'd rather keep Lukaku and see him develop into a real top-class striker, or at least see him try.

We're all aware Lukaku is by no means the finished article yet and still has a lot of improving and developing to do in terms of becoming a great all-round striker. However, what we, the fans, could question is would he have done a better job than Ba, Eto'o and Torres this season if he was at the club? Probably so.

During his loan spells Romelu has proved he's ready for the step up and I really do hope we give him a fair chance this season or we will end up shooting ourselves in the foot and lose a player that we worked so hard to get a hold of in the first place.

In response to the question at hand, I'd obviously opt for Lukaku if that much wasn't evident already. Bamford has a lot of potential but should be given regular Premier League experience elsewhere first.

I hope both are involved in the team next season, but Lukaku should really be given higher priority in the pecking order, he's earned it.

Lukaku to choose between the two.

Lukaku has outscored our strikers in all competitions whilst playing one less, for a lesser team, for 2 seasons now.

If thats not enough to get you into the team, then just quit now.

Going as much by gut feeling* as anything, but in the long term - and I emphasise long term, Bamford might just prove to be the better option.

Bit of a silly question-

Lukaku has proven he can score goals in the premiership, Bamford isn't a proven starter for Deby County.

True, Bamford has a lot of potential.... But Lukaku for me!

What's wrong with using both? Very different players with Costa or Mandzukic or Benzema as number 1 striker it could well work and couldn't be worse than this year.

...couldn't be worse than this year.

I think this is what we have to remember haha.

Stick a couple of the under 9s in there and it would be an improvement.......
