Bayern were brilliant before Guardiola took over. If Jupp Heynckes had stayed in charge for one more year Bayern could have been the first team to win back to back Champions League titles.

I think if we had come up against them in the semi final last season we would have beaten them.

Totally agree.  They were awful to watch and had no cutting edge.

But isn't Chelsea's shaky defensive start to the season more a case of you lot being a lot more attacking? In a crunch game like this Mourinho will not have his defence playing the way they did against Swansea or Everton or even tonight, That's where the fear comes from, I know Mourinho will drill his defence against us.

If Toure plays the way he has done so far this season Matic will be eating for him dinner, Lot's of City fans finally getting on his back tonight, He is such a lazy bugger, In big games we have to start Lampard/Fernandinho/Fernando, He cannot be trusted in the holding role because simply put he doesn't hold well enough.

Yes and no. In part it is down to playing Cesc. He gives us far more going forward but makes us weaker at the back. Sadly no one steps up as our box to box option. Ramires is not good enough there, Mikel is a good not a great player. Ideally, imo, Jose would put Cesc where Oscar plays and have say a Paul Pogba alongside Matic (who incidentally has not been pulling up trees either so far).

If we start against City with say Matic, Cesc, Schurrle, Oscar and Hazard we will get torn to pieces through the middle by Fernandinho, Toure and Silva, I have no doubt about that.

Exactly, we still have defensive issues, the right side seems to be leaking goals and chances, and Gary Cahill has not had the best of starts. I have been very impressed with Ivanovics attacking display but the defensive display he has struggled, I think we are going to need Ramires on the right in the City game, we really need more cover on that side, I'm just happy Jesus Navas is a right midfielder.

Let Hazard, Cesc and Costa (and later Remy) do the attacking work imo, maybe is time for Mikel to come back alongside Matic and have Willian or Rami out on the right as you suggested.

There has been a lot of individual errors and lack of concentration, but it is early days, however this City match is also early days to and we have to be prepared. Flashback to the Everton game, Ivanovic completely loses Naismith and Everton are straight back in the game. So we are still rusty all round, hopefully as you said this draw will give us a kick up the arse we will be needing.

I'm confident and I'm predicting a draw, I can see a 0-0 game and I would actually be happy with that, and I would also agree with that, I might be glad if Toure starts but then again he is a really dangerous player and can make a difference on his own.

  1. Good morning Liverpool! Good morning everybody! Today is a new day! We dont care about the past! We work for the future270c.png1f64f.png1f479.png

@FinallyMario Don't tell the Liverpool fans not to care about the past, that's all they have and all they ever talk about!

Nope! Fulham really are gash :-)

At least Ross got off the mark for them? haha

To be honest though, I would feel bad if they did go down to League One after it's all said and done this season. I like Chelsea to have some good local West London derbies and Fulham have given a lot of Americans a chance to ply the trade in England, including a 19 year old who I think is starting in their midfield.

They are paying for living beyond their means now. Their payroll was something ridiculous like 80% of their turnover last year. Even with the parachute payments they have had to get rid of a lot of high earners and turn to youth.

Right now it clearly isn't working for them.

For lack of a better place to ask this question what do you guys think of the situation at Manchester United? They have falcao on loan for the season with an option to buy at the end of the season. Everyone knows the rumors that Ronaldo wants to go back to machester. Assuming falcao has a good season and they choose to buy him and Ronaldo who do they get rid of? Rooney is a pen in to stay but does it leave Mata on the doorstep again? I don't really see LVG getting rid of RVP but surely they cannot afford all those players wages.

I know it's far off just something that interested me.

I think Mata will be on his way at the end of the year regardless of whether they bring back Ronaldo. Rooney will be the no.10, even though Mata is the better player. At £300k a week how can Rooney not be the 10? Only if there’s an injury to Falcao or RVP will Mata play by virtue of Rooney moving up one to CF. Bear in mind that United only play a game a week this year so it’s not like there will be many opportunities for players normally on the bench to impress.

Magath sacked.

Magath sacked.

Just read that Danny Murphy would consider taking over.  Magath has used 29 players this season. That's a lot this early in the season. Suspect Al Fayed will blame the fall of Fulham on the removal of Michael Jackson's statue.

Well, they could sell Di Maria of course.

Some of them don't fit because people don't actually rate them that high.

Specifically he who must not be named, Nani and Pepe.

Top 15 most overrated Football Players

Good list, I'd say. Refreshing to see Gerrard in there. Rooney and Wilshere also. Especially Ozil.

Who else would you add to the list?

A lot of those players aren't even rated that highly, or they once were but people now know they are crap. I'm glad they listed Gerrard though, that will annoy the Liverpool fans

I would add Neymar to that list, he is a good player but people go on like he is this unbelievable footballer when he really isn't.

Pretty much what I was going to say.

Its actually a poorly done lust anyway because it admits some players were good and have hone bad. Therefore they are no longer rates highly and therefore not overrated.
