February 10, 201511 yr Anyone see that West Ham player dive to try and win a pen against Utd ? It was analysed to death on MOTD and the papers have been full of stories about it. Not.
February 10, 201511 yr I did yes but through the sarcasm I thought there was a worthy discussion of United's wider failings under LVG this season. Oh good just checking and I do agree with what you said on the LVG matter, United are escaping massive criticism, the manager and Di Maria especially. Remember how much Torres got it.
February 10, 201511 yr To be fair I don't think Pardew knew there was a problem right away and he probably didn't get too involved after what happened last year. Personally I wish Pardew had nutted him! To be fair, Mcarthur has a lot more composure than i would have. I probably would have got a 20 match ban, fined about 100k and be charged by police to beating the prick half to death if he did that to me. It is only a sport, but some of these players and managers take it too far and overstep the mark too many times, it verges on assault. Once you lay your finger on another person, all bets are off in my opinion; whether that be on or off the field of play. imagine if that was Jose - the FA would contact the Scotland Yard & Jose would be thrown in jail for assault.

February 10, 201511 yr So you are horrored by the violence of people 'taking it too far and verging on assault'......yet you'd 'beat a man half to death' for doing it to you? Haha :) I just think players and managers take too many liberties that they likely wouldn't take outside of football, on the street because they know nothing much will happen to them. "beating a man half to death" is a bit of an exaggeration, but i wouldn't just let a player or manager apply force to my throat, headbutt me or bite me etc without retaliating in much more forceful way. When i see the way some players get physical with other players, i'm surprised at how many are so calm and composed about the situation. If anyone here was a player and they were headbutted or deliberately elbowed by a player, they wouldn't boil over and retaliate? Maybe i'm just too hot headed, but i couldn't stand there while some player tries to cause physical harm to me. You know what really rubbed me up the wrong way is when rio ferdinand ran past torres that time when he was on the floor and deliberately kneed him. I felt sorry for torres because he was so low on confidence and you could see it by his reaction, but it also angered me that ferdinand did that, and it was deliberate. If i was torres i wouldn't have been able to let it go unfortunately. Henderson is another player who really irks me too. I am not a confrontational person, but when pushed and poked, one's patience starts to wear thin. Edited February 10, 201511 yr by enigma
February 10, 201511 yr Nigel Pearson has blamed MOTD for him being able to look after himself. “I don’t care what they think of me, I pay my tax bill ... It’s not helpful when the three fountains of knowledge on Match of the Day make a mountain out of a molehill.” to which Gary Lineker has responded to via Twitter saying "If I was [a fountain of knowledge] I’d tell you that he was sacked by one of the owners’ family and reinstated by another, but then I’m not.” “Ah Nigel Pearson is blaming MOTD for making a mountain out of a molehill. We’d best be careful in future, the fella can look after himself.”
February 10, 201511 yr He really is, he acts like a w**ker and blames MOTD all they pretty much said was his reaction was strange.
February 10, 201511 yr Baffling how Pearson gets away with this yet a few words uttered by Jose and he's fined! The FA is more corrupt than I could ever imagine!
February 10, 201511 yr BBC reporting that tonight will be the last occasion that Liverpool face Spurs at Anfield with Gerrard in their side. Apparently he is leaving at the end of the season.
February 10, 201511 yr I can't honestly believe nothing has been done about Pearson and the RVP elbow. Our players just have to breathe near another player to get a ban. Imagine Jose and Costa in the above situations, we'd have no manager and no striker for another 3 games, at least!! Now re this LVG long ball thing, media jumping all over it saying how much respect they deserve for not giving up and chasing the game to the end. I agree, but when it's us what do they say? Ooh they're very lucky, just hoofing it upfield, hit and hope, etc. etc. Grrr conspiracies conspiracies!! ;)

February 10, 201511 yr BBC reporting that tonight will be the last occasion that Liverpool face Spurs at Anfield with Gerrard in their side. Apparently he is leaving at the end of the season. If they're welling up over that imagine how they'll react the last time he ever boots an aimless diagonal long ball into the stands, the last time he ever wastes possession by shooting pointlessly from 35 yards, etc...
February 10, 201511 yr It annoys the f**k out of me but I think the only way it's going to get sorted is if when a player of ours is banned that our club highlights instances where others were let off etc. It seems they only do it trip us up; when Jose speaks about it he's fined, no one can actually speak their mind as they get reprimanded so I can only imagine if we came back at it like you say with examples of others then it will back fire on us in one way or another. It is massively frustrating and even more so when we get labelled as 'whingers' or conspiracy theorists. It's not so much the in-game decisions that bother me (as much as it is a cliche, a lot do even themselves out over the course of a game/season) except when it's clattenberg or that other douche bag who's name escapes me, as I think they're both twats, but it's the unfair treatment of the players and staff after the game.
February 10, 201511 yr Where did Lineker pull this banter from? He has been cracking decent jokes for a while now, I'm sure he has a ghost writer. About 2 years ago he was a right bore.

Don't.... I'm starting to well up myself at the thought of not seeing a ball soar majestically from his foot describing a perfect arc before being caught by some fat bloke with no shirt on sitting in row W

February 10, 201511 yr It's only a matter of time before LFC start selling Stevie G 'holy relics' that have magical powers. "The last blade of grass that Saint Stevie trod on for LFC - it protects anyone who touches it from slipping over, etc" There's money in this for LFC.
