January 5, 201511 yr I'm too young to remember so I just wanted to ask, with all the build up to tonight's game, why is 7th place Wimbledon beating Liverpool in the FA Cup final seen as the biggest cup final shock? Surely the 1976 final with second division Southampton beating Manchester United is bigger, or 2 years ago with Wigan beating Manchetser City before being relegated just a few days later? Although they were 7th in the league, and had been similar I think the year before, they had risen extremely quickly before that from non-league - I think (I haven't checked) in more or less consecutive seasons and were still seen as a bit of a joke, waiting to be "found out". Southampton were always seen as a reasonably big club even though they were 2nd division at the time they won. Wigan were more like Wimbledon in my opinion. Maybe the explanation is that when Wimbledon won, it was still seen by the "big" clubs and generally as THE cup to win?
January 5, 201511 yr His own script was to be sh*t all season. Leave and make it all about him, then score against Wimbledon? That's a sh*t script
January 5, 201511 yr Beeb making same mistake as sky and itv...Liverpool co-commentator in murphy and it just sounds like Liverpool TV...crap
January 5, 201511 yr Strange few seconds there of Brendan, his back to the dugout, looking around like a Meerkat.
January 5, 201511 yr Earlier on the beeb website, they replayed their coverage in full of 1988 cup final between Wimbledon and Liverpool...it was a great reminder of when beeb were best in business, with des the host and motty commentating at his peak...think their current employees could do with watching it and see how it should be done...it's a pale imitation now
January 5, 201511 yr That Akinfenwe chap looks ahem......rather well fed......... Jeez...I wouldn't tackle him, if he was at speed, for anything. Imagine if he fell on you.
January 5, 201511 yr Didn't realize Wimbledon actually had a player called Tubbs. I thought they were just referring to Akinfenwa. Edited January 5, 201511 yr by AlexTommo

January 5, 201511 yr Anyone else remember Rodgers saying " defending is easy " after we beat them 2-0 last season ? He still doesn't get it though does he ? I love the FA Cup for the very reason it throws up games like this.
