Was thinking about this earlier, the FA should have done more to prevent this.

So on the MK Dons list of honours, are they credited in any way, with that FA Cup final victory?

Saw this on Twitter:

"Steven Gerrard's birthday falls on the same day as the FA Cup final, what a fitting send off it would be if someone can get him a ticket."

:laugh2::laugh2:

Lol :-)

Maybe reading too much into it, but Rodgers looks like he wanted anyone but Gerrard to score...I can't believe Gerrard would leave if he was happy playing under his manager

Don't know officially but the AFC Wimbledon website says this:

The supporters of AFC Wimbledon believe that our club is a continuation of the spirit which formed Wimbledon Old Centrals in 1889 and kept Wimbledon Football Club alive until May 2002. We consider that a football club is not simply the legal entity which controls it, but that it is the community formed by the fans and players working towards a common goal. We therefore reproduce the honours won by what we believe was, and will always be, 'our' club, in our community.

Good enough for me

Don't agree with that at all It was Wimbledons own directors who, effectively, 'stole' the club by agreeing to relocate to MK. The alternative was no football club at all ( after Hamman sold the ground ) . Even Hamman was looking to relocate before he sold it. . The only questionable thing was how MK managed to bring a 'new' club into the league, not that it was Wimbledon.

If you want to blame someone, blame the local council who didn't want a new ground in Wimbledon and Sam Hamman who broke the club up.

I believe if MK did not do what they did, and Wimbledon were wound up only to be resurrected, they would have had to change the name anyway. So Wimbledon would never have existed again anyway.

Spot on

The truth is more the directors ran the team and club down as much as possible to make relocation an option, then gave the fans no choice. A sickening action.

Here comes failotelli. I am surprised premier league sides struggle so much against these minnows in lower divisions tbh. You would think there would be too much quality for these sides from the get go, but every year the minnows either cause upsets or make the EPL sides work harder than they need to.

Ahem, Shrewsbury, league cup, end of October?

Not sure you'll find many afc Wimbledon fans who will agree with your version of events

Agreed, but they are over emotive and don't understand the simple fact that their club was on a very steep slope and was destined to go bust anyway thanks to Hamman. Blaming MK is convenient.

I don't agree that MK Dons should have been allowed to just rename a club so they could exist without having to start from scratch but, again, that does not change the fact Wimbledon were dead in the water.

..... and have fought back for their right to be in the league unlike MK who should've started at the bottom.

If I recall, at some point MK Dons voluntarily relinquished any claim to Wimbledon's history.
