February 2, 201511 yr While the outcome of that poll may well be correct, I agree that any pole ever conducted related to football results where possible in a Liverpool victory. I think it relates to the amount of their supporters with nothing better to do (I can see the irony in me posting that) and a desperate attempt for the club to win 'something'. This afternoon they are having a worst January signing poll. I wonder which transfer will come out number one in that poll..... hmm
February 2, 201511 yr But for as fantastic as Suarez was, he didn't actually win anything with Liverpool. No doubt they signed an excellent player but apart from selling him for profit the signing didn't really do much.... If that makes sense? Maybe I'm looking at the poll differently but with Dugarry, his signing meant Birmingham achieved Premier League survival making it a good January signing. I don't know, maybe I'm thinking too short term with them? I agree it depends what criteria you use. But even though he didn't win anything with/for them, he had a real impact on their team.
February 2, 201511 yr I agree it depends what criteria you use. But even though he didn't win anything with/for them, he had a real impact on their team. I just refuse to vote pro Liverpool for anything... My disgust is too high. Probably why I've voted Carroll for the worst January signing.
February 2, 201511 yr I just refuse to vote pro Liverpool for anything... My disgust is too high. Probably why I've voted Carroll for the worst January signing. Lol! Fair enough! Tbf I think Carroll was probably even worse for them than Torres was for us!
February 2, 201511 yr I have just seen Jean-Alain Boumsong's name on the list however so I think I may have been a little hasty with my vote.
February 2, 201511 yr Yakubu has signed for Reading on a free transfer. Cracking striker in his prime and I'm fairly sure at one stage his goals to minutes ratio was close to that of Henry's.
February 2, 201511 yr You just know that if villa score against us Sat that's all they'll focus on. Even-no, especially if its in the dying seconds and we've already scored six.
February 2, 201511 yr Taken from the BBC: "The Italian press are reporting that Samuel Eto'o was so upset that Sampdoria boss Sinisa Mihajlovic had organised a double training session that he stormed out of the training ground to drive to his home in Milan. Sampdoria officials are said to have chased after him, without success. "Remember that Eto'o only signed for the Serie A side from Everton last week." Said in this very thread a couple of weeks back I didn't find Eto'o very likable... I stand by that.
February 2, 201511 yr Online vote on the BBC of the best January transfer signing of all time. Suarez won with 47.7% of the vote. Vidic 2nd with 19.9% Sturridge 3rd with 7.7% Liverpool related polls always seem a bit stacked once the votes are counted, anyone else notice that or is it just me? I voted Dugarry to Birmingham personally, the man almost single-handed kept them up the year he signed. In recent years, we signed Brana, anelka, Matic, Luiz and Cahill in January...Torres gives us a bad name, but the other five, with varying degrees of success (but success nevertheless) have been good buys...just assume cfc fans have got better things to do than vote in a poll
February 2, 201511 yr I have just seen Jean-Alain Boumsong's name on the list however so I think I may have been a little hasty with my vote. Boumsong! That's a name I haven't heard in ages!
February 2, 201511 yr Yakubu has signed for Reading on a free transfer. Cracking striker in his prime and I'm fairly sure at one stage his goals to minutes ratio was close to that of Henry's. If I ever see the Yak-attack in my local I'll try to get a photo!

February 2, 201511 yr Zaha has rejoined Crystal Palace on a permanent deal. Just imagine the outrage if it had been us - 'ruining a young player's career' etc How many times did he play for United? I only remember seeing him a couple of times - Community shield and then a league game I remember when he was at Crystal Palace in the Championship and he was getting compared to Ronaldo and people were saying he was going to be world beater. He was playing in the Championship and not even scoring that much, how did they come to these conclusions ? i wonder if it was to do with him being English.
February 2, 201511 yr I hate headline writers. I just read the headline 'Striker Kane signs...'. My stomach literally turned over until I read '...mammoth new deal'. Phew... Edited February 2, 201511 yr by Spudulike
February 2, 201511 yr I hate headline writers. I just read the headline 'Striker Kane signs...'. My stomach literally turned over until I read '...mammoth new deal'. Phew... One of the best players in the league currently. He'd be an excellent backup for Costa as well [emoji12]
February 2, 201511 yr I hate headline writers. I just read the headline 'Striker Kane signs...'. My stomach literally turned over until I read '...mammoth new deal'. Phew... If I were to write headlines it would be worse. 'Harry Kane injured and out for the season.. the Christmas season.'
February 2, 201511 yr Southampton apparently want Bertrand on a permanent deal. I wouldn't accept anything less than £10 million. He has been one of best defenders in the league this season. If we let him go, we should be demanding a bit of money for him.
February 2, 201511 yr It's bollocks. If he doesn't want to play for his country, don't f**king force him.
February 2, 201511 yr Jamie Carragher has just told Sky Sports he thinks that if Chelsea win the league this year there should be a medal for "whoever gets the transfer fees in for them" - and he may have a point."£50m for David Luiz, £37m for Juan Mata, £28m for Lukaku and Schurrle will be the same," he says."I hope whoever is doing their business ends up at Liverpool one day." - you have to say we are sh*t hot at turning a profit these days, Marina Granovskaia clearly knows what she's about. I can't see her ending up at Anfield unless Roman buys it and bulldozes it for a new retail park.
February 2, 201511 yr Wow, this is a sh*t deadline day. It is January though. With FFP in place you should expect more of this from now on.
February 2, 201511 yr Lennon has joined Everton on loan from Spurs until the end of the season. So they've swapped one pacey winger with no end product (Atsu) for a more expensive pacey winger with no end product.
February 2, 201511 yr Lennon has joined Everton on loan from Spurs until the end of the season. Not good for our Christian Atsu who is on loan @ Everton, but not getting a sniff of action. I have seen him do good in the African Nation's Cup though.
February 3, 201511 yr Some people are saying this has been a boring transfer deadline day, i think it has been pretty good. We got Cuadrado. Schurrle left, Salah went out on loan. Bertrand moved to Southampton on a permanent deal. Lennon joined Everton on loan, Fletcher left United after being there for years and Zaha signed a permanent deal with Crystal Palace. West Ham and QPR failing to get Adebayor was funny too, same goes for West Brom not getting Carlton Cole . How do clubs find themselves in these situations ? if they didn't leave it until the last day then they would get their deals done.
February 3, 201511 yr Sorry Scott but this has been an absolutely woeful transfer deadline day, There was a reporter standing outside Leicester's training facility all day long just for Robert Huth on loan. I think Sky Sports will have to really rethink how they market the day, All the nonsense of wearing yellow and giving it the big build up, Maybe in future they might try and nudge one of the big boys to delay their transfer activity in order to give them something to generate ratings or excitement. Even with the Cuadrado transfer, Earlier on in the day the presenters were trying to act like the deal had hit a stumbling block or something to create tension and then about half an hour later the deal was done, Nonsense, Absolute fecking nonsense.
