May 14, 201511 yr All this talk of Buffon 'deserving' a CL medal is like all this stuff going on about Gerrard deserving a PL medal. FFS, no one deserves anything just coz. Difference is, Buffon is lad! He's won everything but the European Cup. He stuck with Juventus when they were dropped into Serie B when most their other star names (understandably) jumped shipped. He's been extremely loyal to the club and one of the all time greatest goalkeepers. If he were to sign off by winning ol' Big Ears I don't think many people would begrudge him that.
May 14, 201511 yr I doubt he'll have the space to dribble and get past defenders if he were with us since teams defend so deep and sometimes within their own box. We need players that can control the ball in tight spaces and under pressure, in addition to the composure to hold it when necessary. There's a reason why Willian excels in our possession game, he can hold the ball well, and he can dribble in tight spaces -- his only issue is his lack of end product. So as you put it, my logic is that Bale isn't the player we need. At best, he's a luxury player. A luxury player lol Are you serious? Do you forget when Bale was playing here 2 seasons ago he tore the EPL up and single handily got Spurs up the league and in Europe. You talk about him not getting space or time yet that’s just not true and even if it were that would mean all the more room for Hazard on the left hand side which is what teams can’t afford to let happen. Having two of the world’s best wide men in the one team is not a luxury at all, Bale was one of if not the best player in the EPL before he left and would slot right into our side given Willian’s low assists/goals and Cuadrado’s inability to play football. How many times has Willian burst forward with space on the right and had to cut back because he’s not keen on taking it past the full back? Bale would and does knock it by them and powers into dangerous areas. If we had Bale we’d have one of the best front 3 in Europe. Bale------Costa--------Hazard

May 14, 201511 yr I wanted Real to win as now Barca will most likely win the final, that being said Juve are a very solid, physical team and could go off our blueprint if they want to know how to beat Barca, although we never had to come up against Neymar and Suarez. As for the Bale debate, i'd rather have Pogba if we're going after 1 big marquee signing. But saying Bale couldn't get it done here is absurd when we saw how stellar he was at Spurs, there's no doubt that Bale could make as big an impact as Hazard throughout a season.

There are so many classy players in that team, exemplified by Buffon and Pirlo, that surely any neutral is going to be gunning for Juve to pull off an upset. Would love for Italian football to experience a renaissance too. Hell even Tevez, who I hated when he played in England, is a pretty admirable player when he's not playing against you.
May 14, 201511 yr Naturally I root for Juve but have to say in this form Barca looks unbeatable. Huge fan of Pirlo. He is something different. Buffon is also a great footballer and seems like a great person as well. Always positive.
May 14, 201511 yr Did you notice Sky going on about how fantastic it is for Juve to reach in CL final on the 30th anniversary of the tragic Heysel disaster? No, nor did I.

Bale------Costa--------Hazard to be fair, he hardly tore the league up. In most games he was average, but he just happened to score a brilliant goal and was hyped there on out by the british media; the same that has been done with kane this season (barring those 40 yard long goals). He just doesn't do enough without the ball which is the problem, and for an ex LB, he doesn't really defend well at all. His positioning seems undecided because he's often drifting in centrally where ronaldo occupies that space, so he's usually finding himself standing around while the other players pass to each other and ignore him entirely. don't get me wrong, he is by no means a poor player, but he just doesn't impress me when i watch him play. he will often come up with the occasional shot that works the keeper, the odd header or great cross, but he's very inconsistent for a player who is the most expensive in the world. it is similar to the people who rates pogba so highly, yet every time i watch him he does nothing impressive, especially off the ball he is an incredibly lazy player with poor defensive skills. for a player who's price is being banded about in the region of 60 million euros, he missed an absolute sitter last night that a player who is supposed to be great offensively, absolutely made an embarrassment of. Can't agree with any of that. The season he left he was constantly putting in great performances and was one of the seasons best players in the league. He wen't to Madrid and didn't look out of place winning Madrid the cup against Barca and playing a big role in their CL win. I think Bale is a fantastic footballer who is going through a dip in confidence with the way Madrid and their fans treat him.
May 14, 201511 yr Did you notice Sky going on about how fantastic it is for Juve to reach in CL final on the 30th anniversary of the tragic Heysel disaster? No, nor did I. It was Chelsea anyway. There was a good recent piece in the Grauniad, calling it "a football massacre that has been all but airbrushed from mainstream memory in Britain." http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/09/juventus-cup-honour-memory-heysel-disaster-victims

May 14, 201511 yr anyone else getting bored with the gerrard love in from the media? are they forgetting that it's lampard's last season too?! yet i have not heard a whisper mentioned about him, it's awful tbh. Edited May 14, 201511 yr by enigma
May 14, 201511 yr Yeah Lampard has been put in the shadows compared to Gerrard. Considering Lampard has achieved more in his career it's pretty sad.

Agreed, I think people saying sh*t like he just scored a great goal and that's it we're obviously not watching him play. Also bored to sh*t with people knocking Harry Kane if he played for us the same people knocking him would be raving about him. May 14, 201511 yr Just saw the penalty given to Real..embarassing. Simply embarassing. You can't fold into the crowd yelling at this level like this ref did.

May 14, 201511 yr From what I've seen and read I wouldn't want either Bale or Pogba. Bale would be a luxury, given his price tag and the fact that it would be prevent us from strengthening the areas that we need to this Summer above all - CF, CM and arguably CB too. I'm sure Bale would be excellent again in the PL and would give us a formidable dual threat out wide along with Hazard, but if we really want another AM then for half the price we could have Griezmann who may not have Bale's pace but is better in possession and by all accounts has the potential to be as good. Pogba is another one who, for me, simply would not be good value for money. I've watched enough of the Serie A to know that, similar to last night, he drifts in and out of games, largely wandering on the periphery. Sure, his knack for scoring blinding goals is incredible, and his overall talent is sky high, but I just don't see him being a good fit for us. I don't see Pogba being the type who will work his nuts off for the team in the way that JM would demand of a CM before anything else. For what it's worth, a good mate of mine works for BT Sport on the Production of their European Football show where they cover Juventus frequently. He has similar reservations as me. If we want a CM that badly, then we could get Koke for about half the price. Sure, he might not be as gifted as Pogba but he'd be an excellent fit for us given that he's played in a similar system for Simeone. He's also very creative and tenacious indeed.

While I was not looking forward to a diveathon or playacting worth of the silver screen I did think that game would be close. I see Juve and Barca being similar to when Spain beat Italy at the Euros. I think it will be a straightforward win, hope I'm wrong and it's fought till the end.
May 14, 201511 yr I hope Juventus smash Barca in the final personally. I think most people will want to see the Old Lady win. Edited May 14, 201511 yr by RAWK Meltdown
May 14, 201511 yr Aston Villa have been fined £200,000 after admitting spectator misconduct in relation to their FA Cup sixth round tie against West Bromwich Albion on 7 March.
