Are our rivals about to catch or overtake us?

Featured Replies

City's next fixtures are:

Everton (A)

Arsenal (H)

Chelsea (A)

Hull (H)

Stoke (A)

Newcastle (H)

Some tough fixtures coming up.

I take back what I said, we should be above City come the end of the month.

Didn't realize they had all that coming up. If City get through this month above us, they are going to take some beating, not even sure I will come out confident.

They should be without Aguero and Toure this month I believe, Kompany maybe? Not sure if he is back or not.

Everton (A) - win, Everton are shocking atm

Arsenal (H) - Arsenal willl get tonked

Chelsea (A) - Loss

Hull (H) - Win

Stoke (A) - Draw

Newcastle (H) Win

Now the question is, will we gain more points than

City during this run of games?

Chelsea (A) - Loss

Blimey. Even with their abundance of match-winners??

I've said from the start of the season that the key time for us is the dozen or so matches beginning with Newcastle. Can't be asked to post the full list but we play Man United at home on the 18th of April.

Between now and then we only play City who are a really tricky tie. You've got West Ham away and Southampton at home as well who are potential banana skins but we should be looking to win each and every match.

It's so hard to call because you can look at the fixtures and guess where both sides would drop points but no one would of guessed they'd throw away a lead against burnley and we'd get those extremely poor away results.

I just hope we can go into the city game at least level if not on top, even of its just 2 points or goal difference, we should be looking to win the game but I really don't fancy it being a must win game where we have to chase it, a game we can't lose is a different story.

Yes Blue Daze even with their abundance of match winners. We only play them twice a season, their match winners will pick up the points elsewehere, as they did last season.

City have had a relatively easy Christmas period.  I think everyone they played was placed in the bottom half of the table, while Chelsea only played one game against a side at the time ranked 11th -  every other game was top half.

It's a long way to go, and just as we've shown we struggle in games away from home, City earlier in the season showed that they have their own problems.  I expect it to be tight.  What's really going to hurt is if we continue to progress in cup matches and our fixture list really clogs up.

  • 2 weeks later...

those xmas doubts seem a long way away now. we are looking strong. Home win in our next game could more or less seal it. can't see citeh overturning an 8 point deficit over 15 games

They did it in 6 games with Man United.

If we manage to beat City in our next game then it will be a fantastic result no doubt but the title race certainly isn't over. Plenty more games to be played and both titles City have won they were written off for twice, don't write them off a third time, they were 8 points behind us in November and by the end of December were on level points. They managed to go on a winning run despite having a lot of there players out.

Matic will dominate the match, Fernandinho is quite good but Fernando is a very average player. Have to utilise their set piece weakenesses also, they're quite confident on Bluemoon surprisingly, I think they're bang average

It's not surprsing at all, they don't rate us one bit on that forum. But to be honest, I wouldn't even pay attention to that forum, I put it in the same category as RAWK, I stay clear of those places.

Yes, it's very confusing. But then again, you learn to not take fans like that seriously when they say stuff like "haven't been impressed with chelsea" following home embarassments against stoke, arsenal, burnley, cska moscow

If anyone can expose Matic, it's David Silva. I'll take 0-0.

I'm not so sure, I agree with the David Silva part, he is going to be very hard to stop.

But we are playing them at home we should be going for the win I reckon, especially when they are missing Toure. I'll be disappointed if we don't win that game well perhaps I would be content if we drew.

Thank the Lord for Arsenal today. Now we stay on top win, lose, or draw. However, I'm expecting a narrow 2-1 win in 2 weeks against city. We score first, Costa. Silva equalizes shortly after halftime and Hazard puts one away around 70.

The great thing is about today, is that if City do beat us we have some cushion. They would still be 2 points behind us.

So today was a great result for us. We are still going to be top of the league by the end of this month no matter what.

Did not expect Arsenal to win at City, miracles do happen. City were so poor though,if I was a City fan I would be fuming at that performance.

5 point gap is good though,I think City might struggle while Toure is away.

Are city about to catch or overtake us?

Hmm... I think they're about to be left in the dust.

Agreed, if we put 3 more points between us and City on the 31st, on current form I don't see them catching us.

City had a touch over xmass... I don't think they could have picked an easier fixture list them selves and in coincided with injury issues.

Aguero always takes a while to regain form after an injury, see the world cup. They looked shocking in the middle without yaya... being out musceled at times by an arsenal midfield, is there a more embarrassing event in football?

Still a long way to go, but i know who i'd rather be

Definitely, you can't fault anyone for being optimistic but don't write City off now by any means.

We are in the stronger position for a reason, we have been the best team in the league so far we are rightfully up there. But I'm not going to call the title in January, February or march.
