Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea .... Done!

Featured Replies

He's had 3 sub appearances and 2 starts. That's really not enough to judge him on but at the moment he looks hesitant. When he came on against Spurs there was a moment where he picked the ball up and looked to go on the outside of Rose but stopped, looked inside and then made a half-hearted pass to Eden which didn't make it's target. That to me suggests a player unsure of what his role in the team is.

I'd give him time to settle in but I can see the logic in the move. Schurrle was obviously on the way out (sadly) and the money from Wolfsburg might not have been there in the summer so it probably made sense to make the move now, whilst Salah NEEDED a move because he was rotting away. In comes a player who isn't cup-tied and provides competition this season.

Let's be honest here though, his competition is Willian and he's gone through more than enough barren spells himself. In fact it's not unfair to say that his entire time here has been one barren spell punctuated by unexpected moments of productivity, but he's saved by his work rate.

One of the benefits of buying Cuadrado is that Willian seems to have actually had a bit of an improvement in that regard. Let's just give Juan a proper chance in the upcoming games and go from there.

Schurrle offered us something different. Cuadrado seems to be a Willian clone, only slightly worse. It was good to have the option to put Shurrle in and play differently, especially in games where Willian's stop-start method of bringing the ball forward wasn't getting us anywhere.

A Willian clone? Lol we've barely seen him play yet you're saying that kind of ridiculous crap?

We have to reserve judgement until he's had a run of games. Was sad to see Schurrle go though, seemed he never got a chance.

Just give this lad some time and watch the magic he brings to the team. It's ridiculous how you guys are writing him off. He's coming from a far weaker Italian League it will definitely take some time to settle, plus he's coming to a team in mid season who are already at the top of their league and has a stable first XI.

Even world class players like Ozil, Di Maria are struggled in their first season I mean Ozil struggled a lot in his first season. and now he's coming good.

He'll be much much better next season when he will have a full pre-season with our team. But still I believe he'll show us some big performances later on this season.

In what universe is Ozil coming good? He's worse this year then last

I dunno what game you watched, but since the turn of the year he has been pretty good. Yes still have bit ups and downs in b/w but he have maintained good consistency. Probably Arsenal's best player alongside Giroud.

You have got to be kidding, he has literally done almost nothing in the games I've seen him in, especially the Monaco one.

Ozil has been pretty anonymous. He has bulked up a little I've noticed and looks a little sturdier on the ball. That's about it.

He's been as a big of a waste of money as Torres was for us, maybe even more so as Torres at least scored some important goals

£27m and not entrusted to even come off the bench in a vital game?

Just cant get my head around this signing in truth.

The fact that Mourinho couldn't trust him in a big game against PSG makes me wonder why we would pay so much money for him.

I can't understand why we are willing to spend crazy money on Willian and Cuadrado but not the same amount of money on a proven world class player like Alexis Sanchez.

He is still acclimatising give him 6mths; it is ridiculous to say the least.

I don't buy into this needing 6 months thing.

End of the day the game of football is the same regardless of what country you play it in.

You're supposedly worth £30m then you should be able to contribute... If not then you shouldn't be anywhere near the squad, especially at the expense of two other attackers.

I was being sarcastic; never rated him but let's toe the politically correct route of him playing too little minutes to judge him for now. Personally would have kept Salah or recalled Moses, because come summer we will be handicapped if we are to improve this area of our team.

Oh I got the sarcasm but thought it worth pointing out what an odd argument it is.

£60m worth of right wingers in the squad and we start with Ramires and end with Costa there.

That's worrying for me.

Jose has chosen a lot of these players, and chose to get rid of some quality ones. If we f**k up the league as well, he's got to take the blame for it.

Agree with that.

If we go on to win the double he will be proven correct in the long run but should we fail now then he will no doubt fall on his own sword.

At the same time it was Mourinho who took us from a turgid outfit scrapping for third to a slightly less turgid outfit who are five points clear with a game in hand. In addition if it was José who chose the players we signed (bear in mind that Fabregas, Costa and Matic are among them), he also has to get credit for some of the brilliant transfers out which have funded them. Clearly he isn't solely responsible in either case, but still his contribution to Chelsea over the past two seasons has been overwhelmingly positive.

Maybe I'm doing Jose and the club a disservice by saying this but with regards to our attack we've taken a bit of a scatter gun approach.

In Jose's two seasons since returning he has had.

Hazard

Mata

Oscar

De Bruyne

Schurrle

Willian

Cuadrado

Salah

Ba

Eto'o

Torres

Drogba

Remy

Costa

Of those 14 players 8 were signed by Jose.

Half of them have left already, 3 of which were Jose's signings, 4 if you included De Bruyne who Jose decided to bring into the squad following his loans.

Is it a case of quantity over quality? If we sign enough of these players, some of them will work out?

I look at the money spent on Willian, Cuadrado and Salah... The best part of £70m on right wingers and just wonder if we could have signed a really world class player instead? Especially when you see Sanchez at Arsenal for "only" £35m.
