Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea .... Done!

Featured Replies

Looked a little scared to take responsibility last night. Gonna need time to settle in.

Yep, thought he was a bit nervous. But showed some encouraging signs in all facets. Like José said, I think we'll see the best of him next season once he has a full 6 or so months to settle into English Football and with a full pre-season behind him. I'd expect him to give us some spark off the bench this year as I can't see him starting too many games from here on out; José usually goes with those that he trusts mosts and I certainly don't expect that to change now given what is on the line.

He looked pretty good for a debut.

Quick, good dribbling and some nice touches. He looks a huge upgrade on Salah but he will need to get used to our style of play and us get used to his game too.

He faded in the second half but that's expected I suppose. He will get game time but when Oscar is back I expect Jose to keep his favourite line up.

I think people are being a bit too harsh following his first game. He looked solid most of the time when called upon and he seems to have more composure when dribbling than Willian. I believe he slowed the play down when he saw that he had no avenue and had to wait for support. It seem to be more a lack of cohesion between our four forwards, than Cuadrado playing poorly.

Cuadrado did many good things on his debut but I think he failed his audition as our new corner taker.

They were awful, I think Fabregas and Willian are safe on that front.

Aside from the corner taking I was satisfied with his debut, didn't set the world alight although he should have won a peno off Naismith early on.

It was a difficult game to make a debut in, Everton defended extremely well but even so I liked what I saw, especially seeing Cuadrado actually stick out on the wing and offering us some width unlike Willian and Hazard who prefer to cut inside.

I'm glad we have such experts who can comprehensively judge a player's corner taking ability based on two bad corners and two good ones on his debut.

I do agree that Fabregas should take them though, but mainly because Willian and Cuadrado have more pace to cover in case of a counter.

When team attack us and leave space Cuadrado will be in his elemebt. His sheer speed and dribbling ability will cause teams no ends of trouble.

Also on the counter when he builds a better relationship with Hazard and WIllian (Costa and Oscar too) it looks like one of the quickest attaking sides in Europe.

Haha fair point, but it took him four attempts (iirc) to beat the first man!

Yeah Cesc is the best we have. When he isn't playing though it becomes more of a problem.

Who is the next best thing? Oscar or Willian

Don't think Cuadrado will be back on them again, was he a regular corner taker at Fiorentina?

It will take time for him to adapt to the pace and intensity of the EPL. A lot different to Serie A.

I agree. He needs a few games to get used to the PL. Maybe you might start seeing the best of him next season as he'll have pre-season and a better understanding of how his team-mates play and what is expected of him.

I don't understand how we have so many players who can't take a decent corner. Do they never practice it at all?

Fabregas takes a good corner. Willian takes a decent corner. Cuadrado, we'll have to wait and see.

I have no idea why our players try to cross to the first player and always with too fast pace. Cesc puts the cross right to the player he likes with slower pace. We have such great headers pf the ball it doesn't need to be full speed. I'd give better corners than some of our lads.

It must be difficult joining a team. It's hard enough being a newbie in everyday work situations, imagine having to form part of a team where errors can't be revisited and rectified. The pressure must be immense.

Terry, Cahill, Ivanovic, Costa, and Matic in the box...imagine Mata sending in corners with this squad.

I think Fabregas' dead ball delivery is better than Mata's.

Maybe not for taking shots but delivery into the box is consistently very good.

But we'll always have a certain corner kick in Munich that the Special Juan took to cherish.

The problem with corners now is the aim is to keep the ball as low as possible and bang it in, rather than loft it in. That means even slightly getting it wrong will result in hitting the first man. If its done right, its a nightmare to defend. Done wrong and its very frustrating.

Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I felt like Mata was an absolute specialist. Fabregas has at least given us some consistency after the revolving door of corner takers last season, but I have to give Willian credit for taking the time to improve that aspect of his game.

Early days obviously but I'm sceptical about this signing at the moment.

Three appearances in and I've not seen anything that makes me think "wow" he's going to make a difference.

When you see players like Hazard, Costa, Fabregas and Matic in their early games for us you instantly saw their class.

At the moment I've yet to see anything that suggests Cuarado is an upgrade on Schürrle, Mata or KDB, three extremely talented attacking players.

Jury is out for me, hopefully I'll be proven wrong very soon.

You mean the bloke who's played roughly a total of 100 minutes of football for us?

I think Forever made it fairly clear that it is early days and that these are the his impressions so far, I agree with him. I'm sure

Everyone Chelsea hope that he turns out to be the real deal.
