Raheem Sterling to Chelsea

Featured Replies

I would like to see Sterling in the team of course his price is because he's English. But his ability would only improve the team on the right wing and I think an attacking trio of him, Hazard and Willian as a number 10 would be very dangerous.

Seeing as Liverpool have just spent £30m on an attacking midfielder you would assume they're preparing for life after Sterling and sensibly bringing in his replacement before selling.

They've apparently increased their bid of Clyne too (Liverpool buying a player from Southampton?!!) so they're likely to sell.

Question is, if both City and Chelsea refuse to go above £40m would Liverpool eventually back down on their asking price or would they keep Sterling and risk him running down his contract to the point where he won't be valued at £40m anymore?

cant believe we are interested in sterling, but being used to pressure city to raise the price above £40m...where will sterling play in our team?

Right wing, Willian and Oscar battling it out to play in the middle behind Costa.

A lot more rotation and competition in the attacking midfield three if he came in.

If we're going to splash £40mil on a player I'd want Greizmann. Sterling is a player I like but he's never going to reach Hazard-esqe levels

I think it’s too early to tell.

Sterling is what 20?

Hazard at the same age was around the same, seen as having huge talent and potential but still had a long way to go….look at him now!

Not saying Sterling will go the same way (I doubt many will reach Hazards level) but you can’t really judge at this stage.

Greizmann would be ideal but not sure if Atletico will sell him and obviously Sterling being hoemgrown has an advantage.

Greizmann was part of the kits launch for Atleti this week. Tenuous I know, but I always think that clubs try not to use players that they are willing to part with so he's probably not on the move.

I agree Sterling is still only 20 and could reach great heights but it's difficult to access when the majority of pundits rave about him due to him being English.

Yeah we tend to over hype our own players, it worked with Rooney but has failed with the majority.

Sterling I think needs a strong manager and one that commands respect, Jose is probably the best at that along with Simeone. Players who want to go through brick walls for you.

I always remember going to the Nou Camp the season Ronaldinho left and they were taking down some posters outside the stadium with him in the new kit.

Good point re:manager. Surely the downside from Sterling's perspective is far more competition for a spot with us than Liverpool or Man City.

City are having an overhaul so the chance for a starting spot is there and if he stay with Liverpool he'll pretty much keep his place to reward his 'loyalty'

If Willian kicks on next season surely Sterling would end up as a £40mil bench warmer

Not so sure.

If I saw Chelsea and I was him I'd be pretty confident of taking Willian's or Cuadrado's place on the right hand side as neither are very effective in the final third for us.

He's fast, skilful and scores goals which we are missing in the attacking mid area other than Hazard IMO. He'd add to that and allow Willian to play more central to challenge Oscar for that spot.

He has Navas, Nasri and sometimes Silva to challenge for a spot I'd imagine at City but I can see him getting into both starting elevens if I'm being honest.

London is also a better pull than Manchester and we have a manager who is the best in the world while they have someone they look to punt in a year.

I still think he's going to City but it would be interesting if we were interested in him.

Sterling doesn't score many goals... this season he played centrally as striker a lot that's why he got 10.

Scores more than Willian and Cuadrado, in a lesser side.

He did the season before too.

Griezmann vs Sterling:

Griezmann advantages:

- Movement off the ball, positioning, finishing and versatility in positions he can play.

Sterling advantages:

- Passing, Dribbling, Creativity, Homegrown and Age.

Hard choice, but I think Sterling in a better team and playing in his favourite wing position would improve more.

He looks like he's in one of those charity ads - "Could you help Raheem?  £40m would save him from his current plight".

Just £140,000 a week can bring happiness to this young footballer in need.

Please donate whatever you can and we can get Raheem out of the slums.

Poor little Raheem, he needs a glass of water and some nitrous oxide

He needs a good bath after living in Liverpool for so long, and some hypnotherapy to come to terms with the fact that he had to pull on a dipper Jersey every week

"Raheem Sterling tells Liverpool to leave him out of tour party"

I wonder how bad this can get, if they don't sell him this summer ?   :laugh2:

Hes probably asking to be kept out in order to rush through a move to City. If we ever wanted to sign him, now is when we'd bid and check just how much he wants to come to London, think City though will just slap 50m on the table now

Ouch. That's gotta hurt Liverpool fans. Brendan and his big ego won't like it. What was it he said again about young players? "Old players look for a way out but a young player will run through a brick wall".

Hmmm...you sure about that Brendan?

He's clearly going to citeh, but would be a clear upgrade on Willian/Ramires down the right. Much more creative than Willian and works just as hard. Could start for any team in the UK and probably Bayern as well maybe not barca or real given their forward lineups.

Citeh and L'arse likely to improve over off season and we need to as well.
