Raheem Sterling to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Good deal for both sides. Desperately needed to get some young English talent and they got the best in the country while Liverpool got a ton of cash to reinvest for a player that clearly disnt want to be there. I can see Sterling doing really well for City

It's not so crazy if City don't have to buy another right winger for 10 years+. Lets say we buy Pedro for £20mil, in 4-5 years we would have to replace him with another player for atleast the same amount. Sterling has had two good PL season already, so it's not like they are buying Cuadrado.

We have spunked well over 100 mill on our RW position and we are still without a clear cut answer, would love to have seen Sterling here.

Smart?

49 million is a panic move by City.

Crazy money for a teenager, especially one who is in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Just wanted to add on to your sentiment here - check out a comparison of recent transfers

49m and he barely improves them. for 49m id want a top top signing. Reus. Hazard. Sanchez scale.  Not Raheem Sterling.  £25m would have been a good deal for him.  He wont handle the pressure of that price tag, mark my words.  Utd have bought Depay, Schweinsteiger and Darmian for roughly same money.  Who has improved most?

Not at all bothered that city have got him. Everyone talking about his potential but if we bought a Spanish, Italian or German player with his age, stats and experience for £49 mil we'd be laughed at!!

He might come good but we've already given Liverpool enough money over the years, don't want us giving them any more. We've got a fantastic squad, the best manager in the world and a far better player in Hazard IMO.

I have enough confidence in the might Chelsea that they can succeed without a spoilt little sh*t like Raheem picking up £200k per week from us.

I can see liverfool spunking millions on Benteke now, going to be a very interesting run up to the start of the season

32m for him if rumoured is absurd too

Missed a bullet there I think. £49m is crazy. On the other hand I can't recall such a lack of activity in the transfer market from Chelsea for many years. I hope this reflects a plan and isn't a sign of complacency.

Shame.  i would have loved him here.

Not really bothered about the financials as there are finite players with world class potential.  Sterling was one of them.

For those of you that didn't want him, it is very unlikely that over the next few years we will have a winger as good as him (not named hazard)

I guess we'll just go buy some 25-30 million player that will not even get into our squad....

Spening 50m on Torres you could see what we were buying, a proven prem goalscorer at the time.  With Sterling, i see nothing bar the possibility he "might" become brilliant.

I saw this..

"If Raheem Sterling moves to Manchester City he will become the 6th most expensive footballer ever, he's yet to play 100 league games."

Crazy.

Not gonna lie I would have gladly taken Sterling at Chelsea, but definitely not for more than £50m, that's a silly price to pay for him. He's really talented IMO and I think Jose could have made him into a terrific player and a good teammate too.

I really doubt whether City is a good place for him quite frankly. There doesn't seem to be any real team spirit in that dressing room, too many prominent ego's like Yaya Toure, hardly the kind of influence that Sterling needs right now is it?

Plus he's also on same wage as Eden hazard - £200,000-a-week...difference is Eden had to earn his on the pitch, sterling just had to act like a prick

There is no way he will be on £200k a week.

Only Aguero earns that much, everyone else is on something like £100k + bonuses.

49.8m is way too much for a player like Sterling and, with the chip on his shoulder he seems to have, that's one transfer I am happy to see failed. Good luck to him, but I predict he will never justify the price tag. Also, speed merchants like him usually have a pretty short shelf life, so there's that.

I do like it how Liverpool fans and pundits (Carragher, Thompson and Aldridge) first adored him, then got angry with him and are now trying to convince themselves he isn't all that good anyway.
