Raheem Sterling to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Ok - lets frame it a differnt way, I think we can all agree our right side is a bit of a problem area, Both Willian and Oscar are far better in the center. We aren't quite sure on Cudrado (and I just watched the highlights game from Brazil match and for all the rave revues he was getting, he was repeating the same things that are so frustrating, that lazy ass square pass that puts a player in to trouble)

So assuming we need something else for our right,  how much would you pay for sterling, and or who would you like to see there in place and at what maximum price

I'd go for Sterling but at £40 million max, otherwise I'd hold off to next summer to see what happens with Bale, Reus and the likes.

Considering Sterling is being quoted as £50m with £150k a week wages I would rather meet the £43m release clause for Griezmann.

Or if £50 is available to spend on one player, take a cheeky punt on trying to sign Thomas Muller who is apparently unsettled at Bayern.

Any update on how close he is to signing for city? is it as good as a done deal?

Last I heard was Liverpool had reject an offer of around £40m which I think included add ons.

That was maybe 2 weeks ago now, it's been all quiet since and so City are obviously still a long way off of Liverpool's valuation.

There hasn't really been any solid rumours linking any other club to Sterling in truth so he's as good as their in so far as no one else seems to be interested.

Thanks mate. I don't even read the rags over the summer and stick to this forum as my main media outlet. anything worth discussing tends to end up on here anyway! steering clear of newspaper rumour mills... recipe for a headache

I'd imagine it will be very soon now that he is pushing a bit harder to get out

Point I was making with the Chadli comparison is that if you boil a players output purely down to stats you can pretty much tell any story you like.

You say Sterling was creating twice the amount of chances as Chadli but it's Balotelli's fault whereas Chadli had Kane to play with so it's not impressive. It's manipulating a point to your own choosing.

Last season Chadli, when he "didn't do much" would have been playing with Adebeyour and Soldado up front, meanwhile Sterling was part of a side with Suarez and Sturridge that were scoring for fun yet only got 5 assists?

When Chadli played with Adebeyour and Soldado his overall stats were poor though, while Sterlings overall stats have been good despite Balotelli, Lambert and Lallana. Adebayour also did more goal points in the 13/14 season, then Balotelli, Lallana and Lambert have done this season combined.

Sterling has pulled another sickie. Its only a matter of time before hes out the door. I'd like to have him at Chelsea but his agent is poison.

If he performs well over a 2 or 3 year period you'd have that clown in his ear probably trying to force a move to someone like Bayern/Real/Barca.

I remember the likes of Xavi and even Pirlo following an international game as saying Sterling was easily England's best player and Xavi said he could see Sterling even playing for Barcelona, that's how good he thought he was. At 20, or even 19 when them quotes were made is massive praise.

The kid definitely has potential to be a top top player in world football and even more so under the tutilidge of Mourinho. But 50m is a lot of money, personally i would pay 40 maximum. Scousers would most likely rather sell to city anyway.

I might be very wrong but I think he will not end up being one of the greats. His footballing ability is not the reason but his head. I don't like the way he conducts his business. All of this late flurry is a combination of his agent, himself and the sh*t media. Doesn't make him any less of a player but a smart man would easily avoid all this.

I don't think he fits Chelsea because of Jose's tactics. He can't/won't/should defend at all. A bit black and white from me but I'm not a fan.

Initially, when Sterling's whole contract situation started I felt quite sorry for him. Here was a lad who just wanted to move to a club where he could actually challenge for trophies. Then Brendan made the contract refusal public and suddenly a young lad who has effectively done nothing wrong is recieving abuse from not just fans, but also those former scouse twits in the media. You can't blame Sterling for thinking he's better than playing for a side like Liverpool when his manager, his teammates, the media and even players like Xavi have been telling him how amazing he is.

If you had asked me a few months ago, I would've said that Sterling would be a great signing. Now though, despite me just defending him somewhat, I just can't see it. With all this 'hippy-crack' nonsense, and the refusing to go on Liverpool's pre-season tour despite still being contracted to the club - I don't believe he has the attitude and professionalism to ever completely fulfill the potential he has.

Shame, really.

Very talented player. Only few things that lowers my motivation to sign him:

1) 50 MILLION - I know that Liverpool want to gain good amount from his transfer but the price is crazy. 25-30m sounds more legit. He's only 20 and it would be a high risk to pay 50m for him. There are better players that we can get with lower price, Marco Reus for example.

2) How professional is he? - Last days I've read that he didn't want to go with the team to train and attend to the tour. Also he had some part with smoking like few months ago. Not sure about his attitude and how hardworker he is.

3) Youth players - If we will get him, he will block our right wing for a long years, I actually would like to give Boga a chance in few years like Liverpool gave to Sterling.

Now I want us to sign him to make another trigger happy 'welcome to the club' youtuber look like an idiot.

I can see him being like Rooney. Successful on the pitch but clamouring for a new improved contract every 18 months or anytime he feels he's not 'loved'. Especially with his agent getting a big fat bonus everytime

Gerrard's stuck the boot into him.

He starts off talking about Henderson being the new Liverpool captain

"Jordan's been loyal to the club by signing a new deal and I wish him well, I don't think there's a more fitting player to take that armband off me. I see a lot of my game in Jordan's game and what I like about him is he's very humble."

With reference to Sterling?

"Raheem and Jordan are at different ends of the scale," he added. "Jordan's so professional, he's a winner, a great lad."

Ouch! So Sterling being at the other end of the scale isn't professional, isn't a winner and isn't a great lad.

I guess he can shout all he wants from the US now. Classy? Not one bit.

£50 mil is simply insane. He's should be nowhere close £50 mil.

The hilarious thing is, Liverpool want to get 50 million for him but spend all their time character assassinating him and getting players and fans alike to insult his ability which in effect would make a lot of people think he isn't worth as much as they want.

They are shooting themselves in the foot in their endless quest to appear like the best thing ever when in reality they are being classless morons. No wonder he wants to leave.
