Raheem Sterling to Chelsea

Featured Replies

There is no way he will be on £200k a week.

Only Aguero earns that much, everyone else is on something like £100k + bonuses.

Hart, yaya and kompany are all on around £200k.

I see QPR are getting the best part of £10m from this transfer.

Brilliant for them considering Sterling never even played for them.

Such a bizarre transfer this turned out to be.

Honestly i'd rather have Sterling than pay 6.5m less and get Ozil.

He smokes hippy crack.

You don't 'smoke' hippy crack - it's Nitrus Oxide gas you inhale through a balloon - the stuff you get at the dentists.

I just think it's important to put a bit of perspective - he shouldn't be so stupid to do it when he's this famous, but its not like he's on a street corner lighting up crack rocks...  :laugh2:

'When using Nitrous Oxide, dentists have to be very careful as patients can easily trip or fall. Nitrous Oxide may also cause an ache in your ear or your belly as it can often penetrate the fatty membranes in your body. Whilst the risks for a single use of Nitrous Oxide are very low, constant use of the gas can cause a number of unpleasant side effects which may be permanent.'

Can't see that doing any professional athlete any favours tbh, only a mug would inhale this when out and drinking.

Yeah I agree Chelsbear - it's not something a professional athlete should be doing - and anyone who chooses to use it recreationally needs to be aware it's not risk-free. I just wanted to make a tiny point that he hasn't been caught smoking anything.

I don't think this says much beyond "what a bunch of great transfers those teams made" tbh. There's no context to it (none of those went from one English club to another, or are English) and it uses extremely selective data to make a point. Take the best of the best value-for-money transfers (apart from Ozil, who I love, but he hasn't done much for Arsenal) and most deals look silly. You could easily make another graphic stating the prices of Luke Shaw, Di Maria, Mangala, Salah + Cuadrado + Schurrle and make this deal look fine in comparison.

They've taken a risk by overpaying and there's a hint of desperation to it, but if Sterling continues to improve and fulfills his potential, this will be a great deal for them in retrospect. If he doesn't, then we can all point and laugh at City.

Anyone else feeling a little conflicted about Sterling's future? On the one hand, I want him to do well to prove all the obnoxious and condescending Liverpool fans and pundits wrong on lecturing him about what's good for his career, on the other, he now plays for City.

Nah, hope he fails miserably.

Nope.

I have seen this episode countless times before in football.

Young, talented footballer think's he's made it...throws toys out the pram to get the big move then pisses it all away.

When you consider his off the field antics and that the man leading City doesn't come across as a strong leader for a group like that then I see only one outcome here.

He hardly threw his toys out the pram. He refused a new contract because he wanted to leave liverpool. Only thing he is guilty of is having an agent with a big mouth.

He refused to train.

He also did an interview on the BBC without his club's consent.

He's an adult, he makes his own decisions.

50 million and 200k a week for someone that's basically achieved f**k all so far in football and has attitude problems...So glad we avoided. City are welcome to him

Him and Yaya can become best mates

Hart, yaya and kompany are all on around £200k.

They all signed new deals under City's FFP restriction, decrease their basic wages in exchange for bonuses. Yaya could be earning £200k with bonuses, which would make it only him and Aguero in the squad that reach that amount.

Daily Mail seems to think Sterling will be on £160k-£180k, seems like a wild guess but people believed the Liverpool journalist quoting £200k.

Let's take the lowest amount, £160k a week.

That's more than nearly everyone in the Chelsea squad earns, that's ridiculous money for a player that's had one productive season.

I think he will be on the same deal Silva is on personally, 100k basic plus bonuses which for a first team player at City is a resonable amount.

It's all guesswork.

I doubt anyone knows the exact deals they are on. What we do know is that City are known for giving out ridiculously inflated wage packets.

Naturally but there's a difference between pure guesswork designed to make players look bad and an educated guess.
