So he's a Chelsea player for a year. Nice work by Mendes. Just hope Jose gets something in return as this deal smells fishy.

 

Disappointing signing as I thought we were really going to push on next season instead of just replacing one over-the-hill striker with another.

Who were you expecting us to sign?

It has been quite well reported Jose wants Bamford to have a PL loan. I dont get the "he should be 3rd choice" argument. He was never going to be in the squad in all likelihood. He needs a PL loan too, a Sunderland, West Brom, Newcastle etc if he can score goals there, bring him back for 16/17 season. 

Personally I think this could be a great signing, there's less of a language barrier with the manager and the players, compared to Utd, plus I trust Jose to get the best out of him.

I was expecting us to sign Benteke. But I was hoping we'd blow our budget on Griezmann and/or Icardi. Instead of faffing about with Falcao for a year.

If we'd signed Benteke they'd probably be loads moaning about him not turning up for half a season. Can't please everyone ! I'll leave the better judgement and place my faith in Jose.

I said I was 'expecting' we might be in for him. But would've preferred someone else. Not sure about him for 32m personally. Just 10m more and we're in Griezmann territory.

We still can sign Benteke if Remy will be sold but I'm not sure if that would be a good move.

Can't understand the negativity! Let's get behind him and give him a chance. We have nothing to lose here

 

Could lose Remy, which I'd rather not see.



He's got a hell of a lot to prove before Madrid would even consider him, and I'm stunned we have done just that.

Griezmann, benteke, both in excess of 30 mill and far bigger risks then falcau and both would do a lot more to prevent the development of Bamford and Co..

If we didn't have Costa and remy the risk on this one would be much higher. I like benteke but not enough to pay 30 million for him and have him back up Costa. Since we were first linked with Griezmann I've tried to watch him quite a lot and honestly not that impressed, again he's not going to play up front on his own. There is a serious shortage of top top strikers available at the moment, so renting Falcao for a year isn't bad business



Can see myself cutting back on ab workouts. I think I'll be sore enough hitting them hard during matches Falcao is on - as was the case with Torres.

Falcao is not costing us 50 mill, in the grand scheme of flops (which he hasn't yet,) this will not be a big one

Yeah...you are right Barak, potentially not as bad, but if Remy goes without an adequate replacement, I won't be pleased. As it is, Costa, Remy, Falcao... Not too bad.

(Still, it was refreshing not having those Torresy feelings from our strikers for one whole season.)
