Two seasons ago we were heavily linked with martinez, most on this forum at the time didn't like the idea of the move.

With Atletico seemingly desperate to have Luis back, I feel like now would be the best time to at least try and negotiate over getting Griezmann in return, especially with our other option (Pedro) being pursued by United.

 

But maybe the fact that there's been no concrete talks over matching Griezmann's release clause suggests we were never in for him in the first place. Which is a shame, I think.

21m opening offer? Didn't he cost them 24m? Why would we make an offer that is not just well below the release clause but less than what they paid for him only a season ago? Makes no sense.

Well, we had all summer to make a bid of 45m, which was his buy out fee until a few days ago. Then again, maybe the player isn't willing to leave Atletico for now.

I read that as well, is it official or just a rumour? My understanding was a player would have to sign a new contract for a club to raise the minimum fee release clause because I thought the point in them was so the player wasn't ever totally priced out of a move against their will?
