June 25, 201511 yr Of all the players we're linked with, this is the guy I want. Don't want Pogba and don't want Sterling, in fact I can't believe anyone wants Sterling but there you go. Pogba would hinder RLC's progress, as they're essentially the same type of player. We need an attacker of real quality to take us to the next level. If we get him it'll be a very fine summer indeed.
June 25, 201511 yr Signing Griezmann then Pogba leaves us with only one option to complete a wonderful summer of transfers and colourful hair styles. Although I hear Foghorn Leghorn might have work permit issues.
July 1, 201511 yr Atletico Madrid confirm signing of Jackson Martinez for 35m euros from Porto. Does this mean they are preparing for Griezmann to leave?
July 1, 201511 yr Is it not to replace Mandzukic? Yeah it is, as much as we want Griezmann I don't think he's moving in this window.
July 1, 201511 yr Yeah it is, as much as we want Griezmann I don't think he's moving in this window. Yeah that's the feeling I am getting. Hope I'm wrong and we go in for him.
July 1, 201511 yr That's a quality signing by Atletico Madrid. I'm still astonished by their ability to obtain great strikers! I don't think any club does it any better than them.

Quality strikers = goals goals = points Simple as that really. They've identified that, and have spent most of their money in recent seasons on this area.
July 2, 201511 yr That's a quality signing by Atletico Madrid. I'm still astonished by their ability to obtain great strikers! I don't think any club does it any better than them. Two seasons ago we were heavily linked with martinez, most on this forum at the time didn't like the idea of the move.
July 18, 201511 yr With Atletico seemingly desperate to have Luis back, I feel like now would be the best time to at least try and negotiate over getting Griezmann in return, especially with our other option (Pedro) being pursued by United. But maybe the fact that there's been no concrete talks over matching Griezmann's release clause suggests we were never in for him in the first place. Which is a shame, I think.
July 18, 201511 yr | think he's going to be sold eventually. Dunno whether it's this summer or next. |Atletico already have 4 strikers Vietto, Martinez, Vietto and Griezzmann. Plus they have also signed some belgian winger. But the thing is | think Mourinho is not interested in him as he said earlier. Edited July 18, 201511 yr by CFCBlue12
August 18, 201510 yr Hate the Torygraph, this is one http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/11808893/Chelsea-transfer-news-and-rumours-Blues-make-opening-bid-for-Antoine-Griezmann.html

Didn't he cost them 24m? Why would we make an offer that is not just well below the release clause but less than what they paid for him only a season ago? Makes no sense.
August 18, 201510 yr They raised his buyout fee to £56m just recently. Not going to happen. http://www.marca.com/en/2015/08/17/en/football/spanish_football/1439831431.html
August 18, 201510 yr 56m isn't outrageous for somebody of his quality. But yeah the price tag would probably put us off.
August 18, 201510 yr 56m isn't outrageous for somebody of his quality. But yeah the price tag would probably put us off. Well, we had all summer to make a bid of 45m, which was his buy out fee until a few days ago. Then again, maybe the player isn't willing to leave Atletico for now.

Not going to happen. http://www.marca.com/en/2015/08/17/en/football/spanish_football/1439831431.html I read that as well, is it official or just a rumour? My understanding was a player would have to sign a new contract for a club to raise the minimum fee release clause because I thought the point in them was so the player wasn't ever totally priced out of a move against their will?

They wouldn't it shows you how credible the report is, Metro just plucked it out of their arses because they know all Chelsea's fans will be smashing google looking for transfer news after Sunday
