May 4, 201610 yr He was paid a fortune to win the cl, not the Bundesliga...bayerns three titles are like PSG's in France or Celtic's in Scotland - a hollow achievement...it's become a one team Lge, especially as he's been able to buy best players from closest rivals Dortmund etc...only way you can judge him is his cl record...humiliated in first semi 5-0 on aggregate by Real Madrid, comfortably put away by barca 5-3 in last year's semi and this season after scraping through v Juve and Benfica, he's been knocked out by a club and coach on a fraction of his budget... Anyway, we will see what he's really made of at man city next season
May 4, 201610 yr would you say jose was a failure at madrid on that basis then? 3 CL semis and one league title and one spanish cup with a team that cost much more than bayern? bayern have always been able to buy the best domestic talent. they've rarely won three titles in a row. I think this season shows us how difficult it can be to keep a winning team motivated. for me, to compare it to the spl is pure hyperbole. in any case I'm not saying you can't criticise the manner they went out in the first two semis, but at the end of the day it is a cup tournament.
May 4, 201610 yr Failure is to strong of a word and its thrown out far to often these days. It's disappointment not failure. Edited May 4, 201610 yr by Bobbywoodhogan

The difference here is Jose was up against one of the best teams in history in that Barca side. Beating them to a league title trumps anything Pep has done with Bayern easily.
May 4, 201610 yr I'm not sure I agree, but even so he also finished behind atletico in the league as well as barca in his final season and lost a cup final to them.
May 4, 201610 yr Of course, all the time Jose was Chelsea, I would back him and favour him over Pep. Now that's not the case, trying to look at it from a neutral perspective, I can see why many would choose Pep over Jose, purely based on the "brand" of football. IF Jose does end up going to Utd, many of their fans won't be entirely happy and would have preferred Guardiola, given the choice. Both have been Top coaches with impressive CV's and if Jose does end up at Utd next season, we will see who is better, but hopefully both will be looking UP at Conte!!
May 4, 201610 yr Failure is to strong of a word and its thrown out far to often these days. It's disappointment not failure. Spot on, There's a lot of throwing toys out of prams over nothing these days by football fans, Considering no side has won the CL back to back, How the hell do you expect a manager to win the CL every year? Getting to the semi finals consistently is what the elite managers do i.e. Mourinho/Pep/Ancelotti and Simeone, That's the bare minimum you can ask for and Pep delivered. May 4, 201610 yr What's the thinking for tonight's game? I fancy City to get through, maybe on the away goal rule. I just get that feeling that whilst they might not be the best side in Europe they have the player talent and motivation to win this thing. Ironically, last nights result has probably made it harder for them as in my eyes Atletico Madrid are closer to the City approach than Bayern or Real - ie, determined, difficult to beat and very good on the counter. I see Aguero and DeBruyne being their heros tonight.
May 4, 201610 yr Ronaldo hattrick 3-1 on the night. Madrid Atletico final with Atletico triumphing. It's going to happen!
May 4, 201610 yr Ronaldo hattrick 3-1 on the night. Madrid Atletico final with Atletico triumphing. It's going to happen! I like it but I want Real to win the whole thing
May 4, 201610 yr I don't know why, but I have a feeling that City will surprise today and will reach the final.
May 4, 201610 yr I hope City get to the final. Pellegrini seems a decent bloke, shoddily treated by City's owners, and getting to a final his replacement couldn't reach would be a moral statement of a sort. It'd also be great to see an English team progress to the final again.
May 4, 201610 yr Is it not on TV? I can't see it on ITV, BT Sport or Sky Sports on tvguide.co.uk BT Sport Europe
May 4, 201610 yr Kompany injured again, feel kind of bad for the guy. He just doesn't have the body for a footballer.
May 4, 201610 yr Kompany comes across as a fairly decent guy. Not nice to see any player injured but you like to see the best players on the best stage IMO.
May 4, 201610 yr 1-0, what is that sh*tty music they are playing when Real Madrid score ? cringe worthy.
May 4, 201610 yr Very bizarre how City are playing this formation, no idea what they are actually trying to accomplish.
May 4, 201610 yr Very bizarre how City are playing this formation, no idea what they are actually trying to accomplish. I was about to say something similar. So far they have gotten it very wrong. You would think they would be going for it more, it's one of the biggest games in the clubs existence.
