Pedro

Featured Replies

I read Jose wants use Moses this season but I'm not sure if it's true. I've read it on Pride of London which is publishing most idiotic articles around.

I've read this in a few places also. I really hope its not true.

I think Moses staying would literally be the last resort incase we can't get the signing Jose wants assuming that Cuadrado could be leaving.

If you look at a lot of Pedro's good moments you can see that he does a lot of the dirty work for Messi, Suarez and Neymar.

That's a bit of a stretch.

Those guys are so good, they don't need anyone to do their dirty work.

Pedro didn't start in the knockout phases of the CL, and they won that, he also only made 15 starts in La Liga, invariably against the lesser sides, and they won that too.

I think you're overstating the case, he's surplus to requirements at Barca because basically they have the best attack in history, just as Sanchez was surplus to requirements and just as Fabregas was too. He just can't get in their team. They're too good.

Fabregas and Sanchez went for good money and helped them pay for their replacements. Pedro will go for a bit less, perhaps because he has one year left, perhaps because he's not valued quite as highly. I don't think he's the same calibre as those two players, but he's a good player, and he'd be a good signing in the current context.

1. There's a dearth of top class wingers we can sign.

2. He's approaching his peak years. Critically, he's not so young he blocks the path of our youngsters in the future.

3. Bags of experience, winning big competitions, performing in big games.

4. End-product.

5. Grafter.

6. Pace.

7. Lots of Spanish speakers in the squad.

8. Fee.

9. Versatile.

10. I'm trying desperately to think of a tenth reason. Somebody help me please.

I think Barca would happily see him stay, coming off the bench, or maybe they have some youngsters they'd like to blood and feel he'd impede their progress, I don't know. What is clear is that he'll never be more than a substitute at Barca and hopefully that's not good enough for him. They can say what they like, they can say they want him to stay, it doesn't matter. Ultimately it's the same as us with Petr Cech. One year left, if they don't sell now they lose him for nothing, assuming he wants more than a life on the bench. The move is on.

We tick his boxes he ticks ours. We can offer him first-team football because we are still overly reliant on Hazard in terms of end-product in the attacking third. We are a top club playing in a top league, competing for the top trophies and we pay top wages. Plus he'll be playing for a top manager.

I'd be very surprised if this one doesn't happen. If he's content to stay at Barca as a sub we'd be better off without him, because that would show a lack of ambition.

Basically, he's never getting in their side, never in a month of Sundays. They have Messi, Neymar and Suarez, South America's three best and most extravagant players. It's unprecedented. He's too good to be a substitute and hopefully he knows it.

Part of me is excited because we need strengthening in that department, he gives us much needed depth, plus he'll bring pace, trickery and goals. Part of me is disappointed because we are miles off Barca in terms of quality in the final third and they're the benchmark, they're the team we have to compete with if we want to win the CL. I was hoping we would bring in a game-breaker, a crack player, call it what you like. Pedro is not that player but maybe those players simply aren't around, maybe they're unavailable or maybe the price is prohibitive, I don't know. Griezmann or Reus would get us a lot more excited but there you go, I'm sure the club have looked into it and come up with the best solution for now. It's not an eye-catching signing but it's a decent signing, it makes sense, and the more you look at it the more positive it becomes.

Here's hoping it happens and we see him at the Bridge next season.

Good points made mate. I would offer as reason number 10 he might be hungry to prove to Barca what he's all about or to win different trophies.

I'm not to worried about trying to take barca head to head, history shows you don't have to have the best attack to win the cl. In fact it would be wenger like to try and go head to head with barca it will end badly. Barcas defence is not as good as ours, it can be exposed, like it has been in the past . Only bale IMO would take us close to that level at the moment and even then Costa is rung below that 3. Seeing as we aren't going to whack 100 mill , pedal is a very good buy, if it comes of

Do you know how many actual candidates there are? Is Bartomeu a separate candidate?

yes it is bartomeu v laporta v benedito and a 4th candidate whose name i forgotten

The coach signalled Pedro is not going to get more game time. That was honest. Pedro then has the buyout clause and we can probably match barca as wages offer.

Pedro likely would be bought as a potential starter to get the goals that Willian doesn't. That will slightly weaken the defense.

It then comes down to Willian v Oscar on the centre. If Oscar is fully fit my guess is he will get the nod.

I expect Terry's age to count against him more this season. But I don't know how to get round that because his captain role counts for quite a bit.

I guess Cahill is going to be new captain after JT?

For £22mil it would be an absolute steal in my opinion. While he's not the darling that people want us to sign e.g. Pogba or Greizmann, he's a very good player in his peak years, also bear in mind he is at an age where he won't stop some of our youngsters breaking through in 2 or 3 years.

Don't think he offers anything more than we already have - I'd rather see Cuadrado given a chance tbh.

Is that a serious comment about not offering more than we have....you should say things out loud before you post them...start with the fact he will give us 15 goals a season...that he is a World Cup and champions league winner with a great deal of experience to add up the field then go down the list from there

Seriously? You think he would bag us 15 goals if he joined? lol wow - we aint Barcelona and we don't play that way.

Cuadrado hasn't been given a chance so would like to see him play more, I rate Oscar, Willian and Eden above Pedro. I'd even like to see Izzy given a go.

£22m is what is laughable, and you are all loving it.

Wowzers, I thought this would be a decent forum to join..

I should have expected this from a guy with a batman picture in a football forum...it's genuinely pointless to respond..but the fee is due to a buyout clause, do you know what that is? Yes he would bring us 15 goals, he plays as a second striker as well as a winger, he runs in behind like shurrle but is more consistent, and this is a decent forum, some people on here actually understand the game...do you call it soccer by any chance?
