Bertrand Traore

Featured Replies

how would you do that? Two strikers or Costa as the main striker with Traore slightly behind? That would probably require a fairly big reshuffle of our style and team

Shame we cannot find a way to play him and Diego together.

Traore originally was an attacking midfielder so there is no reason why he can't play on the wings or in place of Oscar / Willian. He was only converted into a striker around January of last year.

Said it many times before: This guy is Thierry Henry's long lost brother.

The still-deluded optimist in me is hopeful he will make an impact at this club.

However given the club's record with youth and general mistrust of attacking flair, I think Traore will make an awesome bench option for Watford or Middlesbrough next season.

He looks lively every time he comes on and he's got an eye for goal so he deserves to be second-choice over Remy.

However ,I'm not sure if he breaks the stigma of youth players not being given a chance anymore than Courtois or Zouma did because he didn't really come through the ranks. We've yet to really see that truly homegrown player be given a run despite having one of the best academies in the world and that was brought into stark contrast with City's approach today.

He's certainly very special though and hopefully his development continues under the next coach.

Stark contrast? The boy that scored for City only signed for them in the summer when his contract in France expired, he's hardly came through their youth ranks but is still considered one of their youth players!

Another good performance by Bertie, still annoyed Oscar took the pen off him, but he got his goal in the end and that was a terrific header, such a hard thing to do to flick that ball on and keep it goal bound. He 100% meant it as well, right after it leaves his head he's looking exactly where the balls gone to see if it's in!

I'm rather excited by Bertie, very impressed by his finishing, he looks confident and comfortable when brought on and can score, pass and take people on. What else do we need. Fingers crossed he becomes a full time Chelsea player not just ignored and loaned out, I think Guus seems to like him over Remy so good start. Keep it up lad.

I dont think we have even seen a fraction of what he boy can do yet, with more games and confidence I'm hoping he starts to show his complete collection

I was referring to the fact that they had about 6 or 7 players who had featured for their youth team, many in the Youth Cup Finals against us.

I remember the first pre season with us and Jose said the boy had a big future.

You could see there was something about him even at the age of 17/18.

Hopefully he get's more game time because whenever he is on the pitch he seems to come up with the goods every single time which can only be a good thing.

All the more reason I'm surprised he was never given a runout by Jose. He was the one that hyped him up in the first place, kept him with the first team instead of giving him another loan and then he failed to give him any proper playing time...

It was strange he didn’t get more time under him.

Hopefully Guus continues to give the boy game time especially as the league is a dead rubber for us now. Probably won’t feature heavily in the FA Cup given the tie we have.

Fair enough, I misunderstood he point you were ,making, apologises

Given traore has shown he is up to the task why is Remy still here?

Chinese deadline has passed I think, why has Remy not gone there?

Maybe he thinks he is better than going to China. He is still a very good striker, many Premier League clubs would take him i'm sure. I'm sure many European clubs would like to get hold of him too.

I just look at Manchester United how good their youth players are. Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Borthwick-Jackson, all of them were given a proper chance to prove themselves. But then I look at us, and I find players that can be even better than Man United's products.

My best example for this is Bertrand Traore, he has a lot of talent and I think that we don't use him enough. Sometimes, we overplaying some players and give them a lot of credit that they don't really deserve. Until now, every chance that Traore had, he proved himself and I think there is some place for him, sometimes our attacking players don't hit and always need some fresh power. I won't mind him starting few games and even in the big game against PSG. We probably without Pedro, so Traore - Willian - Hazard sounds really good to me. Maybe in some part, I'm wrong because this game might be too big for him and he won't prove himself properly, but who knows?

Marcus Rashford didn't even dream about current days this season. He had his chance because Martial was injured and here LVG showed that he got balls and gave this kid a chance to play and at the end he won the game for him. And today, in a big game against Arsenal he had his chance and scored twice. I won't even mention Jesse Lingard here, who turned into a starter, but Marcus Rashford is a good example for my opinion. I think Traore can play regularly for us when our attacking players don't hit.

Stroke of luck.

Completely agree, it's not like LVG had a decision to make, it's either Rashford or nobody on the day. Ok, maybe he showed a bit of character not picking Mata as the striker, unlike Jose/Hiddink did with Hazard, but it's more luck than brave selection. Traore is definitely worth a go, especially with all the other strikers are all out with no realistic come back date ( WTF is with Remy?) On Saturday, after 1:1 I was praying for Traore to come on, because I felt one more attacking change would bury them. Fortunately Ivanovic saved that selection dilemma for Hiddink.

Is Remy still here?

Traore isn't even the right player to compare to Rashford - that would be Abraham. Rashford is an academy graduate who has been there since the age of seven and gone straight into the team.

If he was a Chelsea lad he'd first need to 'prove himself' out in Vitesse before coming back and waiting for his chance, although he'd more than likely be sold before that ever happened. We'll never have a Rashford in all likelihood because there's just not the culture in place at this club to allow for something like that to happen and I think that's a massive disservice to our supporters. The United fans aren't better than us, and they aren't more deserving of that feeling they got yesterday when they saw one of their own make himself a star on the biggest of stages. It's a real shame because the youth teams we have are always excellent but until one makes a real breakthrough, it's almost meaningless to anyone except the accountants at the club.

Thing is, all these young lads at United getting chances due to injuries, what happens to them next season when the likes of Luke Shaw, Rooney, Martial etc. are all fit again?

They've taken their chances this year but will they continue to be involved?

Call me a cynic but I don't think that they will all have continued involvement beyond this season.

Two of those players you've mentioned are 20 so I think there's still a culture of backing youth that gives them a chance next year, although a lot probably depends on who they appoint as coach.

If they do appoint Jose and they say they need a title within two years then maybe he keeps giving them chances and builds a solid foundation for the second year. They need a big rebuild so it's possible just like it is here for us next year.
