Realistic January targets

I think we need to sign a few African players. Missing Drogba, Essien & Kalou.

The African players had heart, passion, personalities, strength and leadership qualities.

As funny as it sounds, some Drogba/Essien type African strength, aggression, stamina and passion would come in handy right now. Mental toughness and leadership, too. Too many weaklings and players who shrink away from taking responsibility in this side.

Not sure about Kalou, though, even though he did his bit for the club.

(Disclaimer: Despite the name, not an African here...)

I'm not even sure any signings we can make will turn this around in january. The problem seems deeper than just personnel.

I think it's more likely any signing would lower their game to the rest of team, rather than lift the players around them.

Pedro seemed to lose confidence after 1 game!

I'm actually thinking it might be good for us to sign nobody in January and then have a clean out in the summer.

Latest rumours have us selling Oscar to long time suitors Juve, buying Alex Texteria from Shaktar and swapping Hazard for Rodriguez.

Any thoughts on those?

Personally i have never really rated Pedro,he was very good in Barca under Guardiola tiki-taka side, but since then have struggled a lot.Sanchez was the better player of the two,and would have been much better fit.

Who'd want to come? They would only be coming for the big wages not for the love of the club we need players who care that's why I think we put the youth in now. Again Jose won't do that .

The more I think about it the more I realise that we could really do with a box-to-box player. We miss the Essien, Lampard, Ballack kind of engine in our team. Matic kinda provides that but not quite.

In theory that player is Ramires. Unfortunately he brings all of the energy but little of the technical quality.

At this point in this carcass of a league campaign we have no reason whatsoever not to be starting RLC, at least for a few games to see if he can fill a first-team spot in central midfield on a permanent basis. If that turns out to be a total failure, then I agree that a player like that should be at the very top of our shopping list as soon as possible.

We should have gone for Dybala in summer instead of Falcao,Juventus paid somewhere around 35 million euros(25 million pounds) for him.Would have been our first choice no.9 for the next decade.

I think we need a good striker, Sadly Mou probably had thought Falco will improve in case costa doesn't deliver.I am not sure if we can get a good one in January. Costa is not the one we can rely on. Infact I would prefer Remy not because he is great, he is available in the box. Costa is slow, first touches are terrible and quite poor twists and turns. I personally feel RLC should start along matic; oscar should be replaced by Fabregas(Oscar is a great futsal player), hazard and willian on wings. Azpi on Right and Baba on left. Kennedy is also a great option. Ramires should be replaced by RLC. If Mou is not planning to get RLC time in pitch let him allow him to leave and prosper as KDB. I dont think sacking Mou is a solution. Mou is not the problem. I guess he knew that his team has overdone last year. He was hence desperate to get Pogba, Stones/Varane and griezeman. We are exactly struggling there(Terry, Fabregas, Costa). Abra couldnt deliver what mou asked and we got guys who can just be barely a 60' substitutes and not in the starting eleven.

But I am optimistic our folks will start winning games from now on, once you are at rock bottom only way is upwards.

Apparently Djilobodji is going to Marseille. That would suggest someone is going the other way.

Only players worth notice at Marseille are Nkoulou (DF) and Batshuayi (FW).

A silver lining may be the availability of Morata next summer? (although wouldn't surprise me if he rejoins RM with Benzema to PSG to replace Ibra)

Ibra to Chelsea?

No point to sign anyone if we will still play the same system/tactic. Look at Pedro, first game was his best as he just played the way he knew, the more time he spent with the team, his game slowly changed, no longer making those runs through the channels. Now he's just another guy like to have ball at feet, dribble a few yards then pass side ways. I know it's harsh, but whatever the manager made him do wasn't working.

To be fair I thought Pedro was decent against The Foxes when he came on. More heart than Hazard for sure.

Would swap Hazard for Bale in a heartbeat.

IMO the front line is the most pressing issue. Costa goes as soon as we can get a tenner. So does Remy if we are not gonna play two up front. Short term Gomis from Swansea, Austin perhaps. Anyone with some heart and passion really.

Ivanovich is our major defensive Achilles heel. Alan Hutton is now a superior full back to Ivan. We all know it but José is showing him loyalty to the point of blindness.

Matic and Fabregas good on their day but not a patch on Lampard and Essien in terms of consistency and the ability to completely dominate a midfield. Would listen to any worthwhile offers.

Looking through this thread we have people mentioning the players they would like to see replaced, quite a few if you have a look through...seems like Mourinho's doing really well when you look at just how many replacements we need.

Quite a few people have already mentioned that rather then overspending on players in January we should look to integrate the youth into the team. The truth is if we are able to bring in RLC, Kennedy & Baba and get genuine minutes & games under their belt I wouldn't classify the season a complete failure.

We need to look at the summer window as the one where we go in with a plan and utilise our targeted players as bait and bring in big names who would be able to make a difference. If Real want Hazard than that deal should include Bale and if Juve want Oscar than Pogba needs to be involved.
