November 19, 201510 yr Maybe we should consider bidding for Dejan Lovren and Huerelho Gomes too. Don't give him ideas, I expect to see him open up those threads shortly now.
November 19, 201510 yr A player deemed second choice to Jonathan Walters really isn't a player we should ever align ourselves with. Are you suggesting we should aim higher and sign Walters?
November 19, 201510 yr Are you suggesting we should aim higher and sign Walters? We do seem to have a policy of signing players that score against us so I wouldn't rule it out.

November 20, 201510 yr you think crouch will come to a team 16th in the table? he's too good for that sh*t.
November 20, 201510 yr Author you think crouch will come to a team 16th in the table? he's too good for that sh*t. I don't think that will put him off. Hopefully a good contract offer will be enough to entice him.
November 26, 201510 yr He'd be more of a threat in the box then Costa right now Costa is thinking outside the box...
November 26, 201510 yr I know this is a piss-take, but I wouldn't be hugely averse to taking him on as a third choice, perhaps for a year or so. I've always felt that Crouch was a very underrated player, his reasonably good technical ability overlooked in favour of casting him as the stereotype of the big frontman, as well as it overshadowed by his gangly demeanour. Admittedly his mobility isn't (and hasn't ever been) particularly impressive, which will mean that he will never be a consistent first choice for us as he won't be able to implement the pressing game a top side requires. However he's a proven goalscorer (he even managed to score 8 goals in the league for Stoke last season, despite Diouf generally being first choice) with plenty of experience, he can hold the ball up well, has an obvious advantage in aerial duels (even if the technical side of his heading hasn't ever really been that good), and has repeatedly proven that he can, on occasion, score truly absurd goals out of nothing. He would certainly be a different option to what we have available now; he could probably to some extent fill the role Drogba played (at least on a footballing level) last season, the role that Falcao is failing miserably to play for us now. Edit: Also he's home-grown - a minor benefit perhaps, but it doesn't count for nothing. Edited November 26, 201510 yr by PloKoon13
November 27, 201510 yr Going along the lines of thinking which caused Splishsplosh to recommend Crouch, surely Lacina Traore (also 203cm tall) would be a better option. He certainly has a much greater physical presence and has got a bit of extra pace about him and from what I have seen his touch and control isn't any worse than Crouch's, there is also the fact that we would be buying him off Monaco so hopefully that would be a bargaining chip for us to send Falcao back.
December 18, 201510 yr Apparently Crouch is frustrated by his lack of playing time. Maybe we can give him a more glamorous form of little playing time... http://www.whoscored.com/News/bhytulzebkk0yqshim11og/Show/Crouch-set-for-Stoke-exit Mark Hughes: “He won’t go out of choice on my part. I would be loathed to let him go because he’s a big part of what we do here and for what he brings to the dressing room. He is frustrated at lack of game time and I understand that. Peter is unique in terms of what he offers and I can understand why other teams would want him."
