August 27, 20169 yr I know I'm like a broken record with this but I'm praying we sign him. It would be nice to have a marquee signing in the window and I 100% think he would improve us!
August 28, 20169 yr Real Madrid president Floretino Perez has rejected Chelsea's loan offer for James Rodriguez as he would prefer to sell the Colombian on a permanent deal-Mirror
August 28, 20169 yr If we want him i think he's worth the 60mil real want for him. With him we can have a midfield of; Kanté James, Willian, cesc/Oscar, Hazard That'll give even the best defences something to worry about.
August 28, 20169 yr There is absolutely no chance of this happening...heard he's off to Juventus...let's concentrate on a LB and a CB please

Those rats can't afford Cuadrado and are begging us to let him go on load. Hilarious.
August 28, 20169 yr daily mail Chelsea held also talks with Real Madrid over a potential deal for James Rodriguez on Friday but have been unable to reach an agreement so far. Madrid want to sell the Colombian but Chelsea have discussed an initial loan, based on the fact Rodriguez has been on the periphery of Zinedine Zidane's squad. i know it's the mail, but at least it's a bit of a step up from the mirror

I know about Brozovic watching Seria A and in my opinion I think he is bang average. We already have enough average and stop gaps in our team whats the point of getting another one, so we can fill our quota number? Edited August 28, 20169 yr by Ballanda

This will not work, we need to buy a starter to make a difference. If james is on the market we should buy him. Yes strengthening the defence is more important, but to compete with man u and man city after the improvements they have made we will also need more fire power in attack. Rodriguez will be perfect, can play as a second striker, a number 10 or as an attacking winger.

Cheaper in no way means better but I would much rather we bought players that fit the style and formation that Conte is seemingly trying to implement than buying a player that doesn't fit and asking the manager to try and shoe horn him in and whilst Fabregas is still a great player I don't think he is in Conte first XI and if he were to leave we would need to sign someone who would be able to fit into that role and whilst Brozovic might be average (haven't seen enough on him to make a proper judgement) he does at least looks like he can do a decent enough job in the Oscar role. Why not allow the manager to play the style of football he wants to play rather than dictate what he does. If we do sign Ham&Eggs I would see it as a board signing and personally is not something I would like to see. Edited August 28, 20169 yr by PedroMendez

I'd hate to think we're wasting our (and Real's) time with childish proposals. James Rodriguez is not Pato FFS.
August 28, 20169 yr I think a loan would be too good to be true personally. If you're looking to buy a used car you take it for a test drive first (or if buying an Aston Martin, keep it for the weekend). Falcao was already showing evidence that his career was on a downward curve before we signed him, I don't get the same impression with James. Edited August 28, 20169 yr by the special one
August 28, 20169 yr I always worry when we borrow players in case they look good and we can't keep them, optimist or what.

If James looks good and they want him back perhaps we'll refuse to sell them Hazard next summer. I know what I'd prefer so I'll be happy if we walk away from this. August 28, 20169 yr I'm pretty sure we played 4-2-3-1 at the weekend so saying that he doesn't fit the system is a lot of rubbish. a player that can play in any of the AM roles has a place in the squad, especially with the quality that James has. no chance we'll get him on loan I don't think, that would be great with an option to buy but I don't think that would suit Madrid at all!
August 28, 20169 yr Just don't see it happening. We are overstocked in attacking options behind the striker so can't see us shelling out £50 odd million on this area. A loan is never going to happen as Madrid wouldn't entertain it, sell or he stays.

We need someone to play next to Hazard and take a part of the burden Hazard carries.
August 29, 20169 yr I do think there is room for a bit more creativity, more pace, and more goals from the centre of the park. If he came and was a regular starter, and didn't play on the win, it wold have to be in place of either Matic or Oscar. With our backline as limited as it is, no pace and ageing, this means magic and Kante are basically necessary, so its Oscar's place he would be taking. The other alternative would be to take Willian's spot which I think would be a waste. Still the idea of Costa, Hazard, Willian and Rodriguez on the fast break is kine of exciting. Enjoying the season so far
August 29, 20169 yr Would love, love, love for this to happen!!! Whilst I agree that we're overstocked with attacking players, I feel James brings something different to the team and in that squad depth. It'll be a ha-uuuge statement from the club if this deal goes through! Look at Man Utd and City's signings - all quality players that might not start every match (bar Pogba, Stones etc.) but they're adding quality depth to the squad. On that note, whilst we're not competing in Europe this season - squad depth isn't a huge issue but the onus can't be put on Hazard week in week out who is (IMO) our only really creative outlet. Willian, Oscar and co have looked okay but we haven't really been tested by quality opposition just yet... end of the day, J. Rod is still only 25 and is definitely worth the price and the gamble. Make it happen Roman! Pls
August 29, 20169 yr Im new here however been a CFC fan for over 15 years. Anyway.. I feel as though this transfer would give us something we havent had for a while... Goals from outside the box and that surgical pass from just outside the box. He has the skills to unlock defences with his tricks and unpredictable play. Imagine the link up play between Hazard and him. Add this transfer to that of Koulibaly and possibly a Left Back and Chelsea have had the top window of the big clubs.
