December 18, 20169 yr James would be a great buy for me. Can see him thriving in Pedro/Willians position and he is completely out of favour at Real Madrid so its not hard to think he is looking to leave. Fantastic left foot and got quite a shot on him which is something i have missed.

December 18, 20169 yr Apparently he said this too James Rodriguez:"I can't guarantee that I'll stay at Real Madrid, I have offers & 7 days to think about it. I want to play more"
December 18, 20169 yr that's a big statement not sure if he fits into conte's system tough, is he any good out wide?
December 18, 20169 yr When did he say that? Sounds like something he would say with 7 days left of a transfer window really.

December 18, 20169 yr Are you sure? Don't understand what the significance of 7 days from now means. If we get the chance to sign him we should take it though.
December 18, 20169 yr I agree he is probably not exactly what we need but he is quality all around. He is an expert at shooting and passing. Real is probably the worst club to be as they are packed with options. What he would bring to us is sheer quality. He would also help us with the problem of unlocking stubborn defences.

Why out wide we play with wing backs....our front 3 play narrow, he can play CM in a playmaker role or as a WF in Pedro's current position...he provides competition for 2 positions and makes us more versatile he is exactly what we need
December 19, 20169 yr We should rather try to get Verratii.. 75m is huge for an outcast player and we really don't need him. He is not a CM, nor he has enough pace to play in our wings. He's a real luxury player. We should wait till summer and splash as much as we could to get Verrattii. I believe he would also cost like 70-80m? But he would improve our team massively while James surely wouldn't.
December 19, 20169 yr Would be perfect for RF. Better than both Willian and Pedro and and has a left foot on him which that position is crying out for.

He's considerably slower than both those players though and we rely on speed on the counter at times. He is of course more skilful and clever than both Willian and Pedro but I'm not sure he'd be suited out wide in their positions. I like James but he doesn't seem like someone who would be a prefect fit in our current system. Like the above I'd rather we spent on Veratti if we could spurge on a big name.

Fair point but Pedro isn't particularly quick. I don't think i've ever seen him outpace a full back.

Pedro isn't the quickest, but he is very dynamic and has good acceleration, which is important in this position. Also i'm confident that his end speed is still well above James'.

December 19, 20169 yr not gonna lie, i rarely watch james play. how good is he? what are his strengths and weaknesses? would he be another ozil and put in mediocre effort?
December 19, 20169 yr We'll probably hear him pledging his future to Real in a weeks time. I would love to have him, a front three of Hazard, Costa and James would be amazing.
December 19, 20169 yr Loan deal would be nice, if we would to purchase him i just hope the transfer fee isn't astronomical. Also i think we should be focused more on getting cover for wings backs, we are hardly short on wingers and they all play well.

If we sell Oscar for the sort of sum that has been talked about, we could afford to sign James. He's the type of player who can unlock a defence and/or create a goal out of nothing. I don't think Real will be happy to loan him out when they could easily get about 50m for him, I'm pretty sure we're not the only club interested in him.
December 19, 20169 yr It's a shame we couldn't keep the Oscar deal under the radar, as Real will be asking for a crazy fee knowing we just received 60m.
