Apparently Allegri is good with youth, a must for any new manager

For Gazzetta dello Sport, one of the main reasons Juventus were keen to bring in Allegri was due to his work with youth and how devoted he is to their development. Under him at Cagliari, Radja Nainggolan was given the opportunity to thrive, while both Davide Astori and Lorenzo Ariaudo were given their debuts. At Milan, Bryan Cristante was offered the chance to star for the first team, while Mattia De Sciglio and Stephan El Shaarawy were developed even if many thought the latter's skills were not fully exploited.

Apparently the shortlist is down to:

Simeone

Allegri

Conte

Sampaolo

That's 4 managers who offer 3 rather distinct ideas of how they want to play football. If the reports are true, how is it possible for a supposedly big club to have such conflicting ideas of what it wants to put on the pitch?

Are we actually going to hire a coach based on whatever Roman fancies in April or May or are they going to come in and play the Chelsea way?

And what is that exactly?

It'll be more misery for ManU because LVG and JM are both in need of psychiatric treatment, and their delusional approach is a little old hat in 2016. I'm sure we're all rooting for Leicester today, if only to inject some common sense into this crazy scene. The big hitters go round and round collecting their golden handshakes and going on to yet more failures while Ranieri quietly goes about his business.

Jose is still the reigning Premier League champion and got a lot out of a small squad last season. With the resources United will offer, I don't see any reason for him not to be challenging for the title.

Leicester winning would be nice but the team I have most admiration for this season is Spurs. Hate to say it but they're playing great football, they've got a core of young, English talent and they've barely spent any money.

Makes me sick to say it, but Spurs have built exactly what Roman wanted to build at Chelsea in 2011.

Simeone - He'd be my first choice

Allegri - Would be a good appointment

Conte - Christ no

Sampaoli - Phil Scolari

On Sampaoli from our South American fan:

A true Bielsista.

- Fluid in attack
- High tempo whenever the ball is in possession
- Preference for mobile players playing centrally, and good wingers/fullbacks to overload the flanks
- Very high block, and very high press as well starting with his attacking band of three
- Transitions between defence and attack made by vertical passes – not by punting the ball a la Charlie Adam, mind you, but with quick forward passes

These tactics worked marvellously for him and his teams in the recent past, as he made his name commanding Universidad de Chile to 3 league titles and one Copa Sulamericana, which is the equivalent of the Europa League, in a two-year span. With Chile, he put them up to par to the rest of South America, almost beat Brazil in the World Cup in the round of 16 (and I believe they could’ve reached the semifinals had they done so) and won the Copa America last year.

Well, reservations regarding his success can be made as he never coached in Europe before and I get that. But he is a good coach nonetheless. Maybe we’re not at a time to "experiment" or to give anyone a first foray into the continent, but if anyone else isn’t available I wouldn’t be sad about it.

Now there speaks a man on a mission.

Not content with an unrelentingly depressing attitude to/attack on the current situation of the club, displaying a nigh on pathological antipathy towards Roman Abramovich, he now drags out the "big club" bollocks beloved of Scousers and Gooners everywhere.

In another post he admires Tottenham, He repeatedly claims to know what Abramovich is thinking, what Abramovich wants, how Abramovich operates. Presented as fact, this is all nothing but speculation.

But to return to this post, he uses media reports to attack the club from yet  another angle. "if reports are true".. he finds it worrying. Metro would have you believe that we've already enlisted Allegri. Look elsewhere and you will read that Simeone is all set to take over come the end of the season. These media reports can't all be right, but they can all be wrong, as equally wrong as the "exclusives" that we were after RVP, Adebeyor and all the rest of them.

And yet this person takes it upon himself to employ spurious media speculation presented as fact, to launch yet more spurious negativity, yet more speculation presented as fact.

"Are we actually going to hire a coach based on whatever Roman fancies in April or May". seems rather a strange question. Not only a strange question, but a contradiction of his implied belief in the veracity of media reports. This is in fact a pointless question included solely for the purpose of having a go at the club, and in particular Roman Abramovich, from yet another angle.

And exactly the same can be said of his final point, "what exactly is the Chelsea way"

Like I was saying, this is a man on a mission.

At the moment my main mission is to find out if I can get to Fulham Broadway tomorrow but I understand your views. I don't agree with them because I don't present my views as anything more than my opinions or the opinions of people I know. They aren't facts.

Which makes it all the stranger that you don't attack my views but seem to be attacking me. I do get that because it's not easy to see something you love criticised but the one thing I can say is that I'm being honest.

In fact in another thread I've said that there is a way we can take this club forward if we get the decisions right in the summer. I hope that post is more to your liking and I apologise for my pessimistic views. I just don't like what I see happening to my club at the moment.

But I will take what you've said on board and I freely admit that nothing I say is fact. Sorry bruv.

By the way, admiring Tottenham is something I've said I'd get stick for. But what is there not to admire about what they've done?

Forget that they're Tottenham for a second, they're building a new stadium, they've got a young manager in playing attractive football on a very tight budget and they've got young English talent at the heart of what they're doing.

Thankfully Liverpool are still sh*t but you tell me what's actually wrong about what I've said, rather than criticise me for saying it. Because I think that it's easier to criticise the message rather than actually counter it, and I mean that with the greatest respect.

I think whoever we get in has to hit the ground running and get us back in the top 4. Arsenal, City and United will have top 3 places sown up.

I think Sampalo would be too much of risk given this. Not sure about Conte and Allegri as I don't know much about them. Simone would certainly get us challenging and get us going again.

He would be my favourite and probbarly the clubs - if he wasn't so controversial.

No pressure on him where he is now different story with us.

Exactly, the honeymoon stage will end for him and Leicester at some point and reality will set in. He is doing fantastic work, though! The more I think about, the more I am "happy" with Pep going to City and JM not coming back. We need to look beyond the "old names" and find someone who can build a new team. But it does burn me up a bit that we probably now have to see JM win the league with United. It was still an asinine decision to sack him in my view, but it is water under the bridge now.

What we need is a little confidence and stability. Things have gone so bad for us this season that we don't even realize who we are anymore. It's not that bad, people! I am sure that with Allegri or Conte (yes, I want one of them) and with a few decent signings, we will be back in cards for the league next season.

I think SE91 is spot on, We clearly haven't identified how we want to play, it would be like hiring big Sam and say now make us play like Peps Barca, more like Courses for horses, Take a punt on  young manager, identify the man who is Talented, but untried, Like a howe, Poch, etc, I think lamps will make an excellent manager, just wish he had the Badges.

Six points ahead in Feb suggests this is no honeymoon and, if "reality" kicks in during next season's CL campaign, it will still have been a remarkable achievement
