April 2, 201610 yr He seems to be very excited and enthusiastic about playing for us. Refreshing to see.
April 2, 201610 yr Glad he got minutes and a goal, he looked a bit rusty at times but he hasn't played since November so that was always going to happen. Hope we see more of him.
April 2, 201610 yr Pleased that he finally played and got a goal on debut, as well as the fact that he did seem to be putting in a shift, however he still looked sluggish and often indecisive with the ball.
April 2, 201610 yr Remy was poor and Pato came on and did the basics but that is no reason for him to start over a fully-fit and rested Traore next weekend in my opinion.
April 2, 201610 yr I think he played well. He definetely need more play time! Btw, Falcao looked pissed.
April 2, 201610 yr Played well all things considered. Still lacking sharpness, and struggled with the physicality at times, but he has a great touch and could be a useful squad player next season.
April 2, 201610 yr I don't think he offered more than Traore has done already. I think he looked more like a second striker than the centre forward position he was supposed to play. But I think that he doesn't have anything interesting to offer and I hope they bring a better forward that can complement Costa and Traore.
April 2, 201610 yr Lets see him hopefully with 3 or 4 games in his legs, i liked him loads before, so give him a shot..
April 2, 201610 yr I used to like a lot Falcao when he played for Porto and Atletico, and then his skills just disappeared and I've given up on him. If reports are right and Pato isn't pulling his weight at training, then he obviously has an issue with working and we shouldn't consider keeping him. And I haven't seen much today against a very poor Villa that gives me any hope, except maybe the movement he made that gained us the penalty. But it is only my view after today's match, I hope that if he plays more games he can change my opinion.

According to gus, pato has been doing extra work after training, so I would be sceptical about those reports.
April 3, 201610 yr Remy was poor and Pato came on and did the basics but that is no reason for him to start over a fully-fit and rested Traore next weekend in my opinion. No reason both cannot play our next game: Pato----RLC-----Willian/Pedro --------Traore OR Traore----RLC----WIllian/Pedro ------------Pato
April 3, 201610 yr I have a soft spot for Pato so I would like to see him carry on getting games, I think he will be a good player to have once he's fully fit. Plus his wages are next to nothing so it's not like we would lose out on much if we kept him.
April 3, 201610 yr Villa were crap but he put a decent shift in. Probably deserves more games in fairness but I'd prefer to see Bertie up front.
April 3, 201610 yr Remy was poor and Pato came on and did the basics but that is no reason for him to start over a fully-fit and rested Traore next weekend in my opinion. Traore played in Uganda on Tuesday, not sure when he got back, but likely on Thursday the earliest. That could be the reason.
April 3, 201610 yr No reason both cannot play our next game: Pato----RLC-----Willian/Pedro --------Traore OR Traore----RLC----WIllian/Pedro ------------Pato But then where does Kenedy get minutes? Kenedy, Loftus-Cheek and Traore are part of the future we should be trying to build. Sticking Pato in on the strength of his name is just us repeating the same old mistakes.

April 3, 201610 yr Pato justified his appearance today so your point is invalid. I don't think it's as simple as saying that because he came on and scored a penalty against Villa that he deserves to start the next game. For starters I don't think Traore has done anything that means he deserves to be behind Pato in the pecking order and I expect Costa to be back in the first team when he's available. Pato is certainly ahead of Remy and Falcao now, but for me Traore has to start the next game.

Sticking Pato in on the strength of his name is just us repeating the same old mistakes. Seems like he's currently fighting with Oscar for mins so nothing changes there.
April 3, 201610 yr I agree with Shedender91, I think Costa (who should be available for next game unless the FA decides to punish him for playing for Chelsea) and Traore should be the choice before Pato. Edited April 3, 201610 yr by Motörhead
April 3, 201610 yr I agree with Shedender91, I think Costa (who should be available for next game unless the FA decides to punish him for playing for Chelsea) and Traore should be the choice before Pato. Unfortunately the FA decided to do that. Diego is out against Swansea. My hunch, purely a hunch, is that Guus played Pato over Traore precisely because he plans to choose Traore against Swansea, so he gave Pato some minutes against Villa to satisfy fans' curiosity and get something out of the loan deal.
April 3, 201610 yr We waited what, nine weeks? to see Pato make his first appearance in a Chelsea shirt. His contribution to yesterday's game, scoring a confidence boosting penalty and playing a part in both Pedro's goals fully justified his selection over a fatigued and non-match ready Traore. In fact I'd have liked to have seen Pato start yesterday rather than Remy Furthermore, I think it's been established that Traore has a future with the club, not so Pato. Yesterday's runout against a piss-poor Villa side was a nice little introduction and indicates that a fully fit Pato may just possibly have a future here. The only way to know for sure one way or the other is to give him more playing time between the end of the season. We might and might not have a hell of a player on our hands, but if he doesn't get time on the pitch, we're never going to know either way. None of the above so much at hints at Pato being an automatic starter at the Liberty, but simply that he needs more playing time against more testing opposition in order to make a realistic assessment of the player.
