September 19, 20178 yr Show the pressure on GC he's seen rudigers ability with his feet and it's as if he's screaming out LOOK BOSS I CAN DO THE FANCY sh*t TOO! poor from GC hopefully he's phased out of the team in favour of Antonio, great servant but we have much better at the club now. As for conte the only excuse I can think of is Baka isn't 100% yet because there's no logical reason him an Kante don't start every match when fit (obviously not fa cup etc)
September 20, 20178 yr “Don't forget that my first appearance in Serie A was when I was 16,” he explained. “I am the first person to trust in the young players, to give possibilities to them, if young players deserve this chance. If the young players give me the possibility to win. I want to win. I don't want to lose.” “I started my career with Lecce, not with Juventus,” Conte said. “You must consider also this aspect when you start your career with a team that isn't a top team. It's easier to find space [to play] at a team that isn't fighting for the title. “Every club (like this) tries to find space for younger players because then they want to sell him. This is an enormous difference, starting a career in a team fighting for the title or against relegation, or for a normal league.”
September 20, 20178 yr Got his tactics wrong, and I think I prefer the way Jose played against Arsenal than Conte does. However that being said, I really like this man and the manager he is, he is no doubt one of my favourite managers at Chelsea we've had, I would put him in the same boat as Carlo & Di Matteo, must be something about Italians. Jose was a fantastic coach but honestly, I was exhausted when he was at the club, I was sick of us being in the media constantly because he said something provocative. Conte's handling of the media is extremely underrated, the way he handled the Costa situation last season was brilliant, he put all the focus on everything else, Jose wouldn't have done that. Sometime's I get the feeling Jose is obsessed with legacy than he is winning in general, he likes to go down as the controversial figure so he likes to say controversial things that are "memorable" and will be fitted in a documentary in years to come. I also don't think Conte gets enough credit for the system he's played, people forget that 3 at the back wasn't done before successfully until Conte came along, now everyone in the league is doing it. Roberto Mancini tried it with Manchester City and they kept losing silly games so he had to revert to the back 4. Martinez tried it at Everton and it failed & Everton ended up with one of their worst league finishes in a long time. I love the football we play under Conte than Jose, sometimes with Jose, it was life draining. And I'm a very pragmatic person, I accept a lot of things as they come, not STRICTLY sentimental about things, but watching us go to big away games under Mourinho felt like it was draining the soul. I felt sorry for the fans who went to Atletico Madrid away and Anfield away to watch us play with 5 at the back and play for 0-0 draws, I mean what's the f**king point honestly? That's 90 minutes of torture. So just giving my verdict on Antonio, I think he's a brilliant manager and I don't think he's made the same mistake Carlo made, he's made a lot of noise to get signings he wasn't happy and he's already improving the side. I just really hope we win something this season even if it's not the league.

Obviously last year Conte was initially given the brief to make the top 4 so as to get us back into Europe. Then, when it became evident that we could really push on so as to challenge for the title, Conte left nothing to chance & hence, even JT - as captain - was sacrificed to achieve that end. This year we have european games unlike last year & we've got a smallish squad so rotation, unlike last year, will come to the fore. And Cahill was not the reason why we drew with L'Arse. As far as the decision to start Fab - I totally agree with your points: this was the wrong decision & especially against L'Arse. I agree. Conte has a lot of trust in Gary and picked him because of experience with it being a big game, so I don't agree with the criminal statement but other than that Davey is spot on (as he usually is)

You can't underestimate what Carlo has achieved throughout his career, he has one of the best manager CV's ever. But it's quite clear Carlo was content with the aging squad we had in 2010, or at least he didn't care to make enough noise in the transfer window. Conte has shown exceptional judgement since he has come, finding a position & potential in Victor Moses was a highly underrated one. Marcos Alonso brilliant transfer, many who were sceptical for weeks when he arrived. Leaving out John Terry, big call and it had to happen, upgrading on Costa, still in transition but it's looking like we have. Bringing back David Luiz which I thought was a ridiculous decision, I'm so happy to be wrong. And finally, I would say the utilisation of our attackers, something Mourinho failed to do because he was obsessed with work rate. There is no denying Conte is getting the best out of Hazard, Pedro & Willian, Pedro especially. I wouldn't sack Conte anytime soon even if we finished 4th, I would give him more options & flexibility. I think his judgement is brilliant, I adore his character. Sadly we know this isn't going to be the case.

Sadly we know this isn't going to be the case. I see Carlo as the manager version of Ozil, when it's good it can be very good but when thing's aren't going to plan he does absolutely nothing to aid thing's. His relaxed method's always lead to complacency at seriously inappropriate times and he does nothing to halt thing's and it starts to manifest itself. Would Carlo have changed thing's when it was going wrong the way Jose did in his first season back or Conte post Emirates? He's a good manager but shoudnt be named in the same breath as Conte or Jose.

Carlo has league titles as well He should have more given who he has managed, and his relaxed nature breeds complacency that has lost him title's many a time, even in Paris. He's a decent manager but Mou and Conte are light year's ahead, or atleast was in the formers case.Infact i felt a lot more confident with Hiddink managing us (first time), had he stayed on i felt we would have had another 90 plus point title win and maybe even have beaten Jose and Inter.
September 20, 20178 yr I see Argo's argument but I think he's massively underrating Carlo who's a superb tactician and always gets his team scoring a f**k load of goals wherever he goes. For the long-term Carlo isn't that great, he barely won any league titles at AC Milan but he did win 2 Champions Leagues.
September 23, 20178 yr I slated Conte last week for getting it wrong and I'm happy to be back to praising him this week. Got everything absolutely bang on. Perfect lineup and he obviously had an eye on Atletico & City so didn't start Hazard. Started Rudiger too which was badly needed. With how calamitous Alonso was today, I shudder to think what the outcome of having Cahill rather than Rudiger behind him would have been. Thankfully, Conte also hauled Alonso off when he'd lost his head. Brilliant away performance by the entire team bar Willian and Pedro (excluding the goal). Even Cahill done well dealing with Crouch.

It's early days but im very pleased with Conte's use of rotation dealing with the extra fixture's so far this season. I remember Fergie use to always heavily rotate in the first six month's of a season which led to a fresh team in the buisness end, hopefully Antonio's going down the same route.
September 23, 20178 yr Great job by him today. Best of the season thus far. Injected pace and skill when needed, subbed off potential trouble when needed and tried a quite adventurous lineup against a side that has troubled Top 6 sides. Rested Fabregas and gave minutes to Hazard to increase his match fitness. Fantastic. It's a shame Willian wasn't on it today.
September 25, 20178 yr http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/chelsea-conte-i-miss-italy-ill-come-back-soon 25/09/17 11:11| News | Autore: Redazione "I miss Italy and I don't want to remain abroad for a long time", has said Antonio Conte who may feel homesick. The Chelsea coach doesn't forget about the present and immediate future though: "Premier League? This year will be even more difficult as both Manchester are back and there also is Tottenham. We can't forget Liverpool and Arsenal neither" - has he said in an interview to Radio Anch'io Sport - "Regarding Champions League, on the other hand, we would need to add a few quality players to a good team. We didn't get lucky with our group but want to do well. I'd like to avoid Italian sides for the round of 16. Roma? They have everything they need to go forward". About the Premier League: "The atmosphere is amazing, the fans come to entertain and that's really positive. Serie A is raising again but every top player keep choosing the Premier League". In the end of the interview Conte talks about the race for the Scudetto and his future: "Napoli are looking to get over Juventus and they've improved so much working year after year. VAR? I think it's positive. Italy? I'm nostalgic and I don't think I'll stay abroad for a long time. I'll never fo to China. Regarding Liga and Bundesliga it's hard to predict the future. I'd also like to change role in the future, working as a sportive director or in a club's management. Are Italian coaches better than the English ones? There are not many English coaches in Premier League and the other ones are all prepared and very good, between the best of the world". Edited September 25, 20178 yr by enigma
September 25, 20178 yr Don Conte made selection changes, and we never looked like dropping this game. It was a brave/bold decision to drop the captain and play the youngest CD in the team, turned out to be the correct move. We looked far more balanced in the midfield, I'm pretty sure Conte picked up what he didn't get right against Arsenal. We may have signed some 'average' players according to the pundits, but most of them turned out pretty good under Conte.
September 25, 20178 yr I'd be incredibly surprised if he stays past his current contracts which expires in 2019. If not next summer already. Inconvenient timing on that interview though at the start of a new season.
September 25, 20178 yr Most managers don’t really last long at their clubs these days. Let’s just say I’d be very surprised if all the managers in the top 4 are still are their clubs in 5yrs time. Although im sure Wenger will still be here. Edited September 25, 20178 yr by Drogbaholic
September 25, 20178 yr Damn that interview/article has me depressed. Will be sad to see Conte leaving, probably my favourite Chelsea manager so far. Great personality. He will likely go back to Italy and manager Milan/Inter who have been struggling and work his magic. Crap, maybe two more seasons and we will need to be searching for a new coach again. And I can't see anyone better than Conte right now. Hope it doesn't put Morata off since he came to chelsea because he wanted to work with Conte for a long time since his Juve days.
