April 2, 201610 yr good to see the Youth ran out & scoring goals for fun - was shocked when I woke up @ 4am to discover Miazga starting - his transfer to CFC has caused a buzz on this side of the Pond
April 2, 201610 yr Couldn't watch the game, but I'm very impressed to see us winning. Any player ratings and a little bit about every player?
April 2, 201610 yr What a nice training match drill. I am really sorry for the Villa supporters, no wonder they are going to be relegated. The players don't seem to care, I feel sympathy for their protest. Still, very sad to see their stadium half empty. Regarding our team, nice to see the youngsters play, although I don't think we can judge their performance in this game. Clarke-Salte didn't have much trouble or really much to do. Miazga didn't have a much trouble either and I think he did OK. Pato... Well, it was fun to see the fans when he came out to play. I didn't like him very much, but I think he is not a centre forward as Costa and needs to play as a second stiker. But I cannot say I want Pato to stay, I think today it was perfect for Traore, why didn't Guus play him? Still, a good win away but against a team that don't have any intention of playing, and it didn't require much from our players to win the match. Edited April 2, 201610 yr by Motörhead
April 2, 201610 yr Unbeaten in 15 games. That's the record for the league this season, exceeding Tottenham's 14 game streak. If the season started 15 games ago, we'd be 3rd! During that time our away record is best in the league! Our home record not so good (12th), but the away record balances it. Let's make it 16 with Swansea before we get humiliated by Man City again the following week.
April 2, 201610 yr Couldn't watch the game, but I'm very impressed to see us winning. Any player ratings and a little bit about every player? I grabbed this from the Sky Sport recap: Player ratings Aston Villa: Guzan (5), Hutton (4), Richards (5), Lescott (5), Cissokho (6), Westwood (6), Gana (5), Gil (6), Sanchez (5), Ayew (7), Gestede (5). Used subs: Bacuna (4), Lyden (5), Grealish (5). Chelsea: Courtois (7), Azpilicueta (7), Ivanovic (7), Miazga (8), Baba (6), Fabregas (8), Mikel (7), Pedro (8), Loftus-Cheek (8), Kenedy (6), Remy (5). Used subs: Oscar (7), Alexandre Pato (7), Clarke-Salter (5). Man of the Match: Pedro If you want a bit more, here is player ratings from ESPNFC. Keep in mind that these are from a CFC homer. Personally I don't mind that bit
April 2, 201610 yr Very happy with the result, and that against a side like Villa, Guus went to the kids and was rewarded.
April 2, 201610 yr Just got home...what a great craic...can we vote for the fans as player of the season?...we have been awesome all season considering dross been served up and today saw chant of the season after Pato came on: 'we forgot that you were here'... Anyway, lots of good performances albeit against a sh*te side...well done Ruben and Pato was much better than I expected
April 2, 201610 yr If it took a broken season and a fixture vs the worst side in the prem so be it Nice to see the younger / fringe players participate in the best away result of the season. U can only beat the team put in front of you. the American miagiza? looked ok Pato took pen well RLC looks good in advanced role scored a beauty 10th or bust Carefree then
April 3, 201610 yr I think people forget how hot Brazil is compared to this. You tell me https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EnkNCfTjlsA
April 3, 201610 yr Starting XI: Courtois; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Miazga, Baba; Mikel, Fabregas; Pedro, Loftus-Cheek, Kenedy; Remy Bench: Begovic, Jake Clarke-Salter, Matic, Oscar, Traore, Pato, Falcao Fair play to Guus ... a good starting line-up = Miazga, Baba, Loftus-Cheek, Kenedy all given a chance and rightfully so. Nice to see Jake Clarke-Salter come on too ... Personally, I would have subbed Traore for Remy. Pato is not the future and is a poor, pointless signing, IMHO. How poor is the bench with Matic, Oscar, Pato, Falcao ... all hopelessly out of form, etc. and need shifting at the end of the season. This SHOULD be the theme in the few remaining games. Play the youngsters ...
April 3, 201610 yr While it was against a very poor Villa side, that was a good result and performance. Pleased with the lineup - Guus could've easily stuck with the experienced heads or just thrown a team of youngsters out for the sake of it. Felt he got the balance right. In particular, the more exposure Loftus Cheek alongside the likes of Fabregas, Mikel and/or Matic, the better. Well done Pato too, exceeded my (albeit very low) expectations. Pedro was excellent too. April 3, 201610 yr Villa was that bad I don't think it's fair to judge our performance. The best aspect of the match is how well RLC performed, there's no reason why he can't get another start this weekend. Baba is pretty awful in defence, that clearance in the first half against incoming player's face was just horrendous, should have been a goal to them any other day. Remy was awful even before he got injured. Pato was decent, the penalty was down to the Villa defender's horrible decision making. Falcao must be p1ssed, could had a few goals of his own had he played.
April 4, 201610 yr Still 10th But win game in hand on Stoke and Southampton and we move above them...party!
April 4, 201610 yr Yes we are still 10th but we aren't that far off the top 6, and we have to keep winning to make that a reality, plenty to play for. This is as much as a one off season for us as it is for Leicester pretty much looking spot on to win the league. Edited April 4, 201610 yr by Malcolm9
April 4, 201610 yr I was at the game. Oscar was beyond woeful. I pray that he gets sold. Kenedy was another poor player on the pitch today. Full credit to Guus for making the sub at half time, it's just a shame it was for Oscar. I feel you have a serious vendetta against him. How do you reckon "beyond woeful"? He came on late, had great interplay to get us a goal, and stuck his foot in numerous times to break up counter attacks. People can be ridiculous rating players, especially when it's the flavor of the month to call someone poor. Oscar was fine.
