April 15, 201610 yr It's got to be Willian .......why ? Because quite simply..........he put the maximum effort in from the start of the season all the way through or even consider .....Mikel , why because he was largely ignored by Jose.........but when he was chosen to play, he did his best and in all the many years he's been at the club, he has never caused a problem by saying idiotic crap to the media. Costa wants to return to Spain.........he only plays when he feels like it.
April 16, 201610 yr I don't even think Willian has been that good this season. I agree, i don't think he has been brilliant, just that everyone else has been awful. He's still my player of the season, but it's mainly because everyone else has been really poor.

Costa has not once said that he want's to return to Spain, and since Hiddink has come in he has probably been our best player. I still feel that Costa will be here next season and i hope he is too, we need him.
April 16, 201610 yr Willian deserves it for at least showing up on time for the season. Had zouma not got injured, maybe he could've pushed him though. There's been some some great performances in the youth team though so hopefully there's still a full house there to see the youngsters show the seniors what a successful title defence looks like!
April 16, 201610 yr While they wear the Blue they are Chelsea players and deserve our admiration good or bad season. We moaned about players in the 70's and 80's and there were dark years. But I never remember it being like this. "What players deserve our appreciation" outrageous talk ! Spoilt generation!
April 17, 201610 yr If Willian is our best performer then of course we have problems. Even two years ago if someone had said in the 2015/16 season Willian would be your best player, I'd take that to mean we had a dog**it season then.

April 19, 201610 yr While they wear the Blue they are Chelsea players and deserve our admiration good or bad season. We moaned about players in the 70's and 80's and there were dark years. But I never remember it being like this. "What players deserve our appreciation" outrageous talk ! You couldn't be more wrong and this is not down to a spoilt generation, these players have disgracefully downed tools, do not care about the club, do not care about the fans, well most of them and anything more than polite applause for them at the end of the season would be ridiculous. You forget that whilst people moaned about 70's/80's players, they had much lower expectations and at least they tried for the club and supporters, I heard that a fan whose been a fan since the 60's say that this is the worst team he's ever seen, because unlike the 70's/80's, these players actually are very talented and do not perform or show any kind of passion. I would not condone booing them, but how on earth you can appreciate this lot is beyond me, do they appreciate us? No.
April 19, 201610 yr Spoilt generation! Pure nonsense, it's not a spoilt generation of fans, it's a spoilt generation of players, the wages, the lifestyle, the lack of passion on the pitch, the way they moan all the time, they couldn't hack Mourinho's training regime, they are spoilt players. It's not this generation of fans that need stick, it's the players and I find it amazing that there are some people stil trying to be positive and stick up for this useless bunch of mercenaries. April 19, 201610 yr ...they couldn't hack Mourinho's training regime, they are spoilt players... You mean the regime that gave the players a way too long of a vacation and too short of a pre-season? Mourinho dropped the ball with that one. Sure, the players need to take some responsibility, but if the big man in charge insinuates that the team doesn't need to work so hard this time around, it's not going to go down all that well. It was a disaster waiting to happen.
April 19, 201610 yr The club also dropped the ball in organising a really stupid post season tour. Just why.

No. Until the last two games when guus publically threw the towel in we were unbeaten this calendar year in the league Since when is that downing tools ? I assume that you say "they" for the 70's and 80's you were not around then ? Our expectations were probably higher You support your club and players through thick and thin and if your friend from the 60's must know that ?

April 19, 201610 yr So how did you feel about Winston Bogarde? I thought he was a w**ker, your point ?
April 19, 201610 yr I thought he was a w**ker, your point ? My point was that you fairly unequivocally said that if they wear blue they are Chelsea players and deserve our admiration. Of course I knew you wouldn't admire someone like Bogarde but I was just pointing out that in your rush to generalise you haven't allowed for much wiggle room. Wearing the shirt doesn't automatically command admiration for some people. It's what you do to prepare for wearing that shirt, and what you do whilst you wear it.

Well he didn't, well not for very long and he had my support when he did, besides the point you are being silly now you know what I meant.
April 19, 201610 yr Well he didn't, well not for very long and he had my support when he did, besides the point you are being silly now you know what I meant. Sorry mate but it was just a very short path to making the point that I needed to. These things aren't black and white.
April 19, 201610 yr My honest view is that he's been as good as he was in recent years. I think he's the average looking girl at the end of the night. In previous years he was surrounded by beauties so he didn't stand out. Now they've all buggered off home and Willian's left at the bar alone and you start to think maybe she's better looking than you thought. She isn't. There's just less competition for your attention. What an excellent analogy. Going to use that when someone says Willian is world class.
April 20, 201610 yr While they wear the Blue they are Chelsea players and deserve our admiration good or bad season. We moaned about players in the 70's and 80's and there were dark years. But I never remember it being like this. "What players deserve our appreciation" outrageous talk ! No, they dont deserve our admiration just because they pull on the shirt. That's the mentality they seem to have, but they actually have to put some effort in to warrant admiration. Now I have no problem appreciating our players if they try their hardest but lack some talent and we finish 10th. That's fine. We dont have a divine right to be top 4 just because we are Chelsea. But when those players have already proven they are capable of winning the league title when they try, then finishing 10th is absolutely unacceptable. It is not the limit of their abilities, so no, I wont admire them for half-arsing it all season. In fact I think the greatest effort of any player all season was probably Costa trying to pull the sacred Blue shirt down past his belly for the first game... Not particularly admirable to me, but you can go ahead and give him a standing ovation
April 20, 201610 yr It should only go ahead to give Willian the trophy, the rest should be made to work in the gym whilst its going on!
April 20, 201610 yr You mean the regime that gave the players a way too long of a vacation and too short of a pre-season? Mourinho dropped the ball with that one. Sure, the players need to take some responsibility, but if the big man in charge insinuates that the team doesn't need to work so hard this time around, it's not going to go down all that well. It was a disaster waiting to happen. Mourinho made a mistake, no doubt about it, but he still worked his players hard, one of the reasons he doesn't last too long at clubs, modern players can't hack his intensity after three years. Pre season was a disaster, as Fab said maybe he trusted the players too much, still no excuse for this crop of players to have played like they have all season.

I assume that you say "they" for the 70's and 80's you were not around then ? Our expectations were probably higher You support your club and players through thick and thin and if your friend from the 60's must know that ? Yep and how many games this calendar year have we won, compared to how many we have drawn? So the players put more effort in when Guus came in, the players still underperfomed and honestly, it was just papering over the cracks. I was not around in the 70's/80's, I try and research and watch old games, but no I don't know exactly what the expectations were, but I can guarantee they weren't anything like the expectations on the players today. For a start we hadn't won the title since 55, maybe we were fashionable, but apart from the odd trophy in the League Cup and FA Cup, we didn't win anything else and weren't challenging for the title, there's no comparison. The person you mention isn't my friend, this is what I heard on the fancast, all of them on their by the way are old school and don't have a lot of time for this team, I'm with you supporting your club through thick and thin, you're spot on, there's a difference in supporting the club though and showing appreciation for these players who have been disgraceful this season, for a start the club is bigger than they think they are.
