Romelu Lukaku

Featured Replies

He may have potential; he is classed as home grown and he certainly has lots of ego, just watch him flail his arms in the air when he doesn't get the ball.......bring him back and give him another chance if you want....but not for 70 mill.

Yes you have a point with the money it is a bit much

Said it many times before, why are so many of you worried about the clubs finances ?, it's not like were going to go bust, not with the BT and SKY annual handouts.

I could understand if people were worried about wasting squad spaces on poor players, but not money.

You could always invest your support in Arsenal Holdings plc.

Or stick with the Chelsea modus operandi and speculate (£) to accumulate (silverware).

I always find it funny when he does that, even when he is behind a couple of defenders. No chance getting the ball back either if Lukaku has a small chance to score.

Say what you will but he scores goals and if thats all your striker can do then better that than one who can do it all but score goals.

If Higuan is worth 76million Lukaku is certainly worth 67million. The silly money just got sillier, that's all.

But I guess we could do with a bit of that. I'm sick and tired of watching our mob fannying about before someone shoots.

I think it has to do, at least for me, with the fact that we live in a new FFP reality. Vastly overpaying for someone like Lukaku may not bother me that much but given how careful we've been with spending over the last few years my worry is that we won't have enough money left to improve other areas where we're currently struggling. I'd be content with going into a new season with the strikeforce of Costa, Batshuayi, Remy and Traore if it meant we spend the bulk of our transfer money on sorting out our baclkine and upgrading our midfield. Replacing Terry/ Cahill with fitter faster CBs would be a step in the right direction. Kante was a great deal, but if we could replace Matic/Mikel with someone better, that would solve most of our problems up for the next few years.

It depends, if you have teammates free and in a far better position you want to see a pass.

Crazy to think Lukaku will possibly set a record transfer fee in this league when he has been hot and cold in reality.

He's worth 35-45 tops I don't think he has improved a lot since he left still the same old player I see just the market has gone loopy.

It seems like Everton want to always play hardball and over value their players.

However, I Romelu wants to be here, and Costa doesn't...it's a no brainer

Why don't we just be done with it and buy the entire beligian national team.

Alderweireld, kompany,de bruyne...Wouldn't bother me at all

This all over.

Unless he stops us from purchasing other important targets, I don't care what we spend.

- Lukaku may be a hot and cold stiker, but he is a young and proven striker in the premier league.

- Lukaku is only 24 which means he has a good 8 - 10 years of service

- Lukaku counts as a homegrown for us which is a plus

- Everton hold all leverage with him being in a 5 year contract.

- Everton will be strengthening a direct rival by selling him to us and they too need to add a striker in this insane striker market - So obviously they will try and rake as much cash as possible.

- Looking at the asking rate for Moratta, Higuain, asking price for Lacazette, Icardi etc - I dont think Lukaku is priced abnormally.

In my opinion we should have rather gone for Lukaku than Batshuyayi but having two young strikers and Costa is not a bad problem to have. The only thing is where will this leave Traore and Remy ?

A lot of people on twitter and newspapers are saying now that conte wants to play costa and lukaku up front. Costa doesnt want to leave

Would surely mean the end for Traore which would be such a waste, biggest talent we have had in ages in that position.

No way could he stay if we sign Lukaku and keep Costa. Him and Remy are for the off

I just can't get excited about the prospect of buying him back for 75M. He's a good striker, but NO where near world class to demand that much money. He never done well in high stake games, like  the International tournament, and he hasn't played the CL before.  Sure he's young and only 23, but i doubt he will get much better. If he signs, we will have at least 1 30M striker sitting on the bench every game. Has he got the mentality to compete with other big names? Last time around he wasn't even going to hang around competing with Torres and Ba.

I'm not convinced Traore's best position is striker. I would still like to see him get some time on the wing too. However I agree that if Costa stays, and we sign Lukaku, he will certainly see much less playing time up front.

Maybe Traore will be played out on the wing with Hazard moving centrally?

He is mainly left footed, and loves cutting in from the right wing opening up his body to shoot with his left foot. I don't think he will be as effective on the left wing.

Right wing might be an option then?

Sorry you were referring to Hazard ;)

It just goes to show that if Costa does go our scouting squad around the globe is pathetic; you mean to tell me that the only forward / striker they can come up and or suggest as a replacement is that big lump Lukaku for 60 mill....what do scouts actually do these days?

Just as well bring De Bruyne back while we are at it, as well as Mata and start again before Jose ripped the squad up during his reign.....oh and throw in Huth while your at it, we need a Centre back because the best one we have up and coming was sent on loan :face_palm: . Who the f**k is running our transfer department these days?

I'd genuinely pay £100m for De Bruyne back.

Mata and Lukaku however, I don't want back under any circumstances, both are simply not good enough for the level we aspire too be.
