Romelu Lukaku

No offence but you are extrapolating all this from transfer rumours and a bunch of made up numbers from reporters all trying to pretend  they know more than the next one. And the conclusion at the end about trying to prove herself, really? That is pretty damn in depth and personal conclusions you are drawing. She has been doing her job for ages now I'm sure she knows a thing or two, and definitely knows its not as easy as chucking another 10 mil into bids.

It's true that the numbers are roumours but look at stones, last year at koulibaly, if city want a player they get him usually and sometimes it's as simple as not pissing off the other club with over negotiating and paying an amount that they can't turn down within reason. Of course it's my opinion as are drawing conclusions but for people other than those directly involved that's all we can do, I may well be wrong but putting together the info we have plus the way things unfold that is my opinion right or wrong, of course in the real world to not make assumptions about people or situations is better but in the context of a forum to discuss possibilities I'm offering a possibility that I feel may be true.

The issue we now have is if Lukaku goes to Utd, we're left with either going after Morata who will cost close to what Lukaku is because Real know the market and how desperate we are or we try and appease Costa and hope Conte and himself put aside their differences.

I cant see the latter happening and Costa coming out weeks ago saying he wasnt needed/wanted by Chelsea has killed us in terms of finding a replacement. I've serious love for Costa but hes wanted out for sometime now and that stunt didnt help anyone but himself, it confirmed basically that we were looking for a replacement, meaning a higher price to pay and that himself and Conte werent eexactly on the best of terms.

One things for sure, if we dont start bringing in players soon, the fan base will start to get really worried about what we can do next season. I'm sick of not defending the title and nobody has done since 2008/09 but this squad and Manager could do it if we get in the right additions, next years league will be crazy tight, right now, Utd, City and Arsenal have stolen a march on ourselves, Pool and Spurs. I dont want to be playing catch up in September, OCtober after a bad start and remember, Hazard is out too.

I mean, those aren't very good examples. Thankfully we didn't do that, and we got Luiz and Alonso instead who were integral to our title win who combined cost less than Stones (probably).

I just think the info we have is not enough to be making statements on her personality.

I agree with this, Chelsea have been trying to drive negoations in our favours so much that it could cost the club players and sour relations with other clubs. If a player is available and Lukaku is, pay the price and get it done with. Theres nearly 0 risk in signing Lukaku IMO.

I'm in the "don't think Lukaku is the right man for us" camp but, leaving that aside, are you saying we should just pay the £100m?

And what do we do with clubs who don't name a price, as for example has been the case with Juve and Sandro?

Because we hardly have any prolific players in our squad at the moment. Diego Costa is gone, Hazard is not a consistent goalscorer, neither are Pedro or Willian and we have no one else from deeper in midfield that scores goals either.

So clearly we need a proven goalscorer at the moment.

All 3 got double figures last season, and perhaps playing a striker like morata who brings players in to the game more could result in more goals for them?

You say that like it's a bad thing?

Because in the modern game a fox in the box with numerous other flaws doesn't work, that's why Hernandez, Gomez and Van Nisseroy all fell behind inferior goalscorer's in the pecking order yet the team's became better for it.

So many of you underrate Lukaku, it's crazy. He will fire Man utd back to the top if he goes there.

Yeah you watch Morinho 'Joe Cole' the arse out of Lukaku...it'll be a car crash of a marriage...

The examples aren't based on how good the players are but that we wanted them luiz and alonso being brought in last minute and doing well highlights contes abilities as a managers and rather shows her up as a negotiator whether a signing is good or not has nothing to do with marina her role is acquisition she has no say in who we are after that's the technical director.

we don't have much info on her you're right but from what I've read and seen of her she sets herself as a tough no nonsense Iron Lady, that in a world of men and egos fits in to the fact we haven't done well in recent windows the link is there to be made, if you don't agree that's fine, again it's my opinion based on what we know about her negotiating style and what the outcomes have been of the recent windows, is it conclusive, no, it's my opinion but I believe it's likely true.

That Utd team is disjointed as is, it'd be a miracle if Jose could pull it off

I was pretty excited about the transfer window when the season ended. I wanted to know what new faces would be added to the team with this "warchest" we had available to us.

I feel like there has been so much talk squeezed in so early into the window. With our exits, both completed and rumored, and a seemingly never ending clusterf**k of potential signings. Now I just want it to be over.

I suppose it doesn't matter who's in the squad when the window closes, as long as it's a squad Conte is happy with. The problems become real if Conte feels like the club hasn't supported him, and has lumped him with players he doesn't see a role for in the team. That's the nightmare outcome.

As for Lukaku...I have no idea what to make of it. I don't know if he's Conte's choice or not. I don't know whether he would be a success or not here (I fee like it could go either way). I don't know if we'll sign him or not. I know nothing.

no matter you rate him or not - us getting gazumped in transfer this big and this important would be an embarrassment to the board and the club.

so much that a little part of me want it to fail just to see how the board would justify their incompetence once more, after failing twice in a similar manner before, in 2011 and 2015

Who says we were in for him in the first place? Clearly behind the scenes there is a power battle between Emanuldo who favors Lukaku and Conte who favours Belotti or Morata...I hope Roman goes with his manager who delivered his second premiership in three years...

Personally I don't think Lukaku was the best man and I don't like him personally but he is young and scores a lot of goals so I see why we want him, I have no issue with walking away at 100 million it's stupid and Everton have been arseholes when we want to buy from them it seems, but where I think we are making mistakes is when we are close to the valuations but won't push that extra 5 million, I think it is this no nonsense hard line negotiating that marina is reported to have

Hopefully a really little part of you, unless you're a masochist.... in which case grab your gimp mask and handcuffs because we're in for a long summer!

Spits when he talks..... Spits when he talks....

Sky have the confidence to have the deal being agreed as the main sports page headline. They usually only do that if they are pretty sure it is accurate. So if Rom really was who Conte wanted he probably wont sign the new deal, so I guess we will find out in the next few weeks as he (probably) returns to work.

well no real fans would want their club to fail. but I gotta be honest I think it would be an interesting scenario
