Jose Mourinho thread

Featured Replies

Quite funny seeing the pathetic media adopting their stance on Mourinho vs Guardiola again.

You can clearly see which journalists are briefed to spread the word that the other is the big bad guy. "my guy spent less money" "my guy plays more kids" "mine plays better football" "mine wins more"

Good. The longer we can fly under the radar the better.

Of Lukaku, Mourinho said: “We got a big player, a player that I can compare with what he was a few years ago, because he worked with me for a few months [at Chelsea] and his development was very good. We have a player who is now a top player. You have to prove it at the highest level, he has to do it for United, in Champions League matches, but he has amazing qualities.”

Praising the player but also a slight dig challenging him. This is what makes Jose the best manager in the world. Granted Lukaku could come out firing blanks, hopefully he does, and the pressure could backfire as it apparently has with the few defenders he called out this past season.

Would rather have Conte, Pep, Poch above him in the prem alone.

All great managers. IDK how Poch is mentioned with the rest with his bare trophy cabinet. I'd personally rather have Conte but if I owned a club Jose would be number 1 and Ancelotti a close second.

Jose would have been my number 1 in the 00s but not no more. Carlo would never be in my radar, nice man but criminally overrated manager.

Really? He's won the league in *edit* 4 countries, top domestic cup in 3 different countries and the CL with 2 clubs. Not enough to convince you?

Hia league record is pretty poor considering the teams he's managed. Hehas good CL pedigree but i consider the league the bread and butter.

Reasons i think he's overrated are he is awful in a crisis, he can ride on the crest of a wave and even make the wave stronger (our run to the double) but when his team's ae in a crisis he is often too slow to react and it often ruins the season (his second season at Madrid and with us). I dont think he's brilliant tactically either.

I'm not saying he is a very good manager but put it this way I am/was a lot more at ease with Conte, Jose and even Guus the first time than I was with Carlo.

You would win trophies a lot but your football will be dire at times and your club's meltdowns will be very public over a period of 3yrs.

Oh I'm definately more at ease with Conte now as well. @Argo

With Carlo and Jose you knew players would run through walls for them, for two seperate reasons, and you get that feeling with Conte now

I guess I like winning then. Can't stand losing actually. The L word is off limits during training and matches for the teams I've managed.

I wonder if guys like Conte and Jose bring it up at all.

I think Jose brings it up a lot. He has more of a no lose mentality than Conte.

You can see Conte devastated when we lose while Jose is angrier

Probably one of Jose's biggest faults is that he makes things personal.

The Wenger comments calling him a voyeur and specialist in failure.

Calling Pellegrini "Pellegrino"

This one about Conte's hair.

All rather petty and all part of his shtick but certainly one of his less appealing qualities.

I really believe what Carragher said about moving to rival teams in that you'll never be truly loved by either club because of the connections to rivals.

Who would have thought that Jose would be almost disliked.

Of course, it is Jose and he could have been more respectful towards us. Plenty of manager have gone onto other clubs and still kept their iconic status at clubs.

Says the guy who's nick is a death wish on José. I'm shocked, what a surprise...

Name has little relevance to the point i was making. Conte has proved he is up there with, if not the best tactically with the players at his disposal. Poch has built one of the best squads in England whilst spending very little money, it is only a matter of time before they start winning silverware.. With Pep its 50/50, he seems to be like Mourinho and needs world class players and millions of pounds at his disposal to win things. If I was the owner of a team i would certainly hire Conte and Poch over Mourinho.

Jose is manager of one of our rivals. That is exactly how i treat him now. I would have expected some respect from him but never mind. Conte is our man now. And he is doing well you will have all noticed.

When you take on a name this distasteful it clearly shows your inability to objectively judge the man.

In other words i made a good point in my last comment and you now can't reply with a counter argument? ok.

Anyone else think Jose will be in the title hunt this year?

His second season is usually his best..

Of course he will be in the title hunt. Have you seen how much money he has splashed out on that squad?

Hopefully he (and everyone else) will still be behind us though.
