reckon if it wasn't for the sending off Bayern could have definitely gone through. They looked pretty strong,

but the usual contentious decisions awarded to Madrid have got them through

Surely there has to be a moment when enough is enough? Cricket, Tennis, Rugby have all embraced technology for goodness' sake. Give each team 2 appeals per half and it won't break up the play, but it will prevent absolute howlers like tonight.

I'm sure of it. Bayern were dominating the game and getting through their defence easily. Real were pretty much completely out of the game, they were offering nothing. It was a matter of time before Bayern scored.......but the ref saved the day for Real.

I don't know how these Spanish sides have the nerve to celebrate their wins, they should be embarrassed.

Once again, cheating wins the day. I love this sport, but it does feel like the most un-sportsman like sport around.

It's a sad but true observation. Cheating is endemic in this sport, at all levels and all parts of the world. Everything from ludicrous dives to get penalties or players sent off to the ridiculous claims for a throw in when the claimant was undoubtedly the player that kicked it out.

The refereeing leaves a lot to be desired at times but their job is made unnecessarily difficult by the flagrant cheating that is sadly as much a part of any game as goalkick.

And as long as everyone accepts it, which managers, players and fans do when they invariably defend their own players when they're the beneficiaries, it'll never become a rarity.

I might actually stop watching CL football altogether. I mean, its clear what UEFA's intentions are, getting their top 2 clubs as high as possible (RM and Barca)

Yep the same teams year after year- it's the seventh season in a row Real have reached the semis. They're a very good team, but at the same time in a cup competition there will (or rather, should in all probability) be games where you'll be knocked out unexpectedly. But it just doesn't seem to happen to them in recent history. You know it's something when you cheer on Juve and Bayern as some sort of plucky underdog!

Allez Monaco is all I can say.

I have to disagree there, I know where you're coming from but ever since Mourinho went there and ended their consistent run of getting knocked out in the last 16, They have year after year been in qf/semi's and the past few getting to the final and winning it. They basically view the CL, The way United/Chelsea/Arsenal and ourselves view the FA Cup, How often are those 4 in the final/semi final of an FA Cup regardless of the draw, They don't fear the competition unlike Premier League teams now do.

This year is our first FA Cup semi since we lost to you lot in 2013!

You're right that Real do prioritise the Champions League- particularly since they went for José and Carlo. I don't know, it's probably just my frustration with how inevitable it all feels. I'm sure fans in Europe said the same thing when English clubs dominated in the 00s. At the same time though I don't think any of the English sides seemed to benefit quite so much from questionable refereeing (only time I can remember for CFC is Carvalho taking out Valdes in 05 for JT's winner).

Looking forward to watching Juventus demolish barcelona at the Camp Nou tomorrow night, and hopefully then go on and draw madrid in the semis and demolish them too. Juve are favourites for me now, I just think that back to front they're the best side, and they play lovely football, much less c**ty than the Spanish sides, a Monaco-Juve final would be the dream

Jack Wilshere's career is over. Arsenal completely ruined him, poor lad. Must be very frustrating.

Another wasted talent. That said he didn't do himself too many favours - was hardly a model pro.

Well his career isn't necessarily over. I just think he has very little chance of making it at the top level. I will say that I don't think the blame can be solely placed at Arsenal or Wenger. Wilshere hasn't helped himself and he's been told before that his style of play is what causes a lot of his injuries. I think aswell he's just an average footballer who can do the odd good thing and that as usual because he's English people have pinned hopes on him and rated him better than he ever was.

Indeed. He's a dirty little chav, like Vardy.

The thing is, if he continues to break his leg every season he won't be able to play at any level.
