England v Slovakia.

I don't know why I'm watching this, especially after England's display in the Euros! Still! New England manager and all.

Joe Hart looking a but rusty, his kicking is bad. We're showing plenty of hussle but in all honesty, I'm not sure anyone cares.

England have been sh*t.........as usual. I'm not even going into these games expecting anything good anymore, there is no point getting your hopes up for any England squad. How can the likes of Sterling go from looking a genuine threat in City's opening games of the season, but then play like this for England ? He's f**king useless for England, he just runs at players and get's tackled, and his finishing is terrible too. I also wish they would stop going on about Stones passing ability, it isn't anything special, Terry can pass the ball better than Stones, he's also 10x the defender. So far in his career, Stones has been a very poor defender. I have seen nothing that says he should be playing at the top level.

Reminds me of Pedro, he's good in the final third when he has space to run into but when he has to make his own or create from deep he's sub standard.

Load of sh*t this. So much mediocrity on the pitch, Henderson, lallana, Rooney bring nothing at all to this team.

Maybe we cab get David Luiz to give him a few tips.

Sam Allardyce praising that performance by Rooney........yep, this is the guy we have to take us forward. There seem's to be a massive arrogance involving English football. It seem's like no matter how many times we fail, we just repeat the same mistakes over and over again. The rest of the world must see English football as a joke, we always seem to play football a generation behind the rest.

Well done, 3 points won, but let's not pretend that that was any different than what we have seen over the last 20 years from England.

A win is a win!

Scrappy goal, scrappy performance. And I'm sick of hearing about how deep Rooney is playing now. YES WE GET IT, he is too slow and sh*te to be up front anymore!

Praising Rooney, for f**ks sake, he's untouchable.

How do the pairings in the playoff among the 8 top group runners up work, are the runners up ranked, or is it random draw?

England fans have every right to feel the way they do. None of us expect England to be on the same level as the likes of Germany, France, Spain, Brazil and Argentina anymore, maybe 10 years ago, but not now. We just want to see some positive football and have something to look forward to. All we get is nervy performances with the players looking like they struggle to pass, shoot, move and even control a football. These players are playing for the top teams in the Premier League, there is no excuse for them to look so uninspiring as often as they do.

We got a win, which is good to see, i usually go along with the whole a win is a win thing too, but it's different with England. When you can look forward to something, it's easy to take a smash and grab win now and again, but we have nothing to look forward to with England. When you look at the bigger picture, you can see that this is going to end the exact same way as the it has done for as long as i have been watching football. England will get through the qualifiers and struggle against any side they meet when the tournament begins.

I didn't watch the game. I heard that it was a snoozefest where neither side was that good, but England was clearly the better team?

I'm curious, did the England players show heart and effort? You can't expect the same level as in a tournament, but given the circumstances, how much desire did they show?

I would hope they'd play with visible passion to atone for their Euros performance and to impress their new manager.

England were definitely the better team, but 11v11, they never looked likely to score. England had more chances in the Euro's against Slovakia than they did today. England only started to look threatening after the 75 minute mark.

Well said agree 100 % ..... The only thing I would add is give Big Sam a chance. I am a bit disappointed with his team selection mind, I thought he might shake it up a bit particularly Rooney.

And what has happened to Harry Kane. One season wonder ?

Someone compared him to Frank Lampard in that he has hugely prolific streaks and contributes nothing in between. Like a light switch, either on or off. Last season Kane didn't score until the 9th game and was unstoppable.

Ive never really though of Lampard as a streak scorer, is there evidence he was? I can remember him starting slowly a few seasons though.
