It's something i have never understood about quick strikers. They play as close to the offside line as possible, why not give the defender the extra yard ? If you are that quick, you will make up that extra yard easily.

Rudi Gestede for example, truly bad at PL level but he has an Ariel presence that you could use. Torres (at Chelsea) had no positive attributes to bring to the table. He lost the two attributes he had that made him a top striker and wasn't even PL level from then on.

As for Mbappe. I don't think we have a chance but if we do we must go all out for him. I know the price is insane but chances to sign talent like this doesn't happen everyday.

You are talking to a man who never rated Torres even when he was scoring all those goals at Liverpool. His basics were entirely obviously below top standard. I was seriously depressed on the morning I woke and learned that his deal had gone through. My comment was not questioning the analysis. Rather it was about the way it was expressed. Even for a Chelsea player whose talents I never believed in, and who I never wanted here, I prefer to show them a more respectful tone. Not criticising, just my style.

If Lukaku is 80 million anything under 300 million for mbappe is a steal.

Because it's not a side by side race, if the defender  can get across the striker by having that extra yard the defender can stop them running at goal and getting into their stride but if they are on the shoulder and turn away and get into full stride the defender isn't catching them for love nor money and that's worrying for the defender and advantageous for the striker, the defender knows if he has a yard he can react to the run before it's past him but he knows if he the striker is on his shoulder he is done if he gets turned 

Slight overhype for this kid. He was great last term but for a team that ticked and played for his strenghts. I'd say 50m is tops

You need to get used to the reality of today's market mate. This is not 5 years ago.

I was the same but he really does look the real deal. Arsenal and Liverpool are getting linked with him, so I don't think he would be as out of the equation as I 1st anticipated, if they could afford him, why couldn't we? It's always difficult to sign players that real and barca are linked with, but we could offer him a staring role, which im not sure he would get in Spain. If he turns out great we have superstar, and if real or barca want him 5 years down the line, the fee we pay now, would have the be significantly increased for us to sell. 

I feel like he could be Henry'esque.

In any other circumstances I agree, but Torres's general attitude towards us was appalling.

He will be another player almost signed by Wenger. I think he will stay at Monaco for another season at least, at 18 a 100M transfer is the last thing he needs. No teams could afford to bench a 100M player, and he'd be expected to deliver 30 goals a year with that price tag.

Mbappe scored 15 in 29 appearances for a team that was scoring for fun in the French league. Lukaku scored 25 in 37 for Everton. Also Lukaku has a good 3-4 seasons track record of scoring in the premier league, he should be more valuable than Mbappe. 

I do rate Mbappe, and would love to have him at Chelsea, he would be perfect to play in the front 3 with Hazard and Lukaku, however the fee Monaco want is far too high for a player of his age and experience.

I'd rather gamble on huge potential and talent than £80 million on a lazy lump

While not being entirely serious, you can see why giving defenders a headstart is sometimes not a good choice
