Opta stats. Aubameyang's 'total score' (including distribution, take ons, chance creation, and shooting) is nowhere near the likes of Kane and Morata. He's a one trick pony, good for finishing but for crazy money that's all you get. Top top CFs assist when they're not scoring (a reason why Belotti is nowhere near worth his buyout clause)

Sounds like Lukaku

Surprised at the pessimism surrounding potentially signing Aubameyang. He is the real deal. Top scorer in the Bundesliga even ahead of Lewandowski, who in my opinion, is the most complete striker in the world at the moment.

The comparisons to Torres don't hold any merit. Torres was quite clearly on the decline when we signed him. Aubameyang is at his peak right now.

It's no fluke either, he consistently scores tons of goals season after season. If the club can somehow pull this off, I would be ecstatic.

Aubameyang and Morata would be a top front three with hazard. Great alternative to Sanchez. Give us that variety in attack and depth which top teams need.

Manu in fergie's heyday rotated constantly. So should we.

Not keen on the idea of having a main striker we would probably lose to the ACN every couple of seasons.

So genuine question here, not an attempt to nip at you... Do you not think we need that presence up front, someone we can expect to hold the ball up and help make attacks stick deep in their third of the pitch? I wouldn't really expect that from Aubameyang considering his style.

I doubt we will sign either of them but if  we got both that would be wonderful.

Just seems fishy, good player at his peak now but it seems a bit odd that no major teams are in for him. If he was so good, Bayern would have entered some sort of negotiation, it might just be the wages tho.

Given that Real is his dream and Real have 2 aging striker, it's a wonder why they're chasing 18yr old Mbappe for twice the fee when they could always buy Mbappe in the next 2-3yrs

everyone else is sorted for striker position around europe. bayern got lewan, real madrid got ronaldo/benzema, barcelona got suarez, inter got icardi, and all the premier league clubs have got a striker barring us (sort of) with diego's situation up in the air. atletico have got a transfer ban.

I really have seen nothing on him but is not his whole play based on his pace? So probably like Torres when that is gone he basically will be too as a top player?

i would say even if he loses a yard of pace he's still faster than 99% of strikers, including torres in his prime.

Bring Drogba back, play him alongside Aubameyang. Problem solved.

In all seriousness, I just feel it would be silly to turn down a chance to sign a player who nets 25+ goals per season. Most posters on here would've probably been content on Lukaku. Aubameyang is a much, much better player than Lukaku from what I've seen, and he guarantees you goals.

I also like the look of both Morata and Belotti. But in terms of scoring goals, it doesn't get any better than him.

The rate things are going we may end up with DD back leading the line.

Haha Inter is too much of a step down, they haven't been relevant enough in recent times. Barcelona's recruitment nowadays is poor. The rest I agree with.

It's fishy because very rarely do any of the top clubs doesn't want a player at his peak.

I'm with you 100% on this, I'm amazed people are claiming Belotti is a better player, the guy has had one good season, I'd imagine the majority of our fans hadn't even heard of him before this season but suddenly want us spending close to 100m on him.

Aubameyang has been doing it at the very top level consistently for some time. There's no guarantee Belotti will repeat this seasons performance, Vardy had an outstanding goal scoring season and is back to being pretty average.

At least Lukaku has 3/4 years on Auba

Thats true thats why Aubameyang isn't good value at his age but as a player for today I'd take Aubameyang all day every day and for 30 million less...well, if we can knock them down to 60 plus add ons I wouldn't say no. Him Hazard and Pedro upfront, with sandro on the left, if a team even dream about attacking us and losing the ball there is a 3 or 4 man attack in their box before they can even turn round to look at the arse gaping unfolding

You ever thought of being an erotic novelist? Feel you could pull off the next 50 shades of (Andy) Gray with your poetic stanzas and timing.

That's absolutely not true even by hyperbole standards, he is better than both of them his age is the problem.

Na the internet has killed the erotic novelist, Madeleines buxom breasts and moist lips have taken a back seat to twerking big booty hoes, plus I'm a gentleman I don't fraternize with such things.

Well here's a direct quote from BD president Joachim Waltze saying that they would take £63m for him...the big question is why are they so desperate to sell him? And why are there so few interested parties given his scoring record?

He turned 28 and very much a player who relies on pace. 63mil for 3 year, maybe 4 along with his wages (which I am guessing would be around 150kpw~ 7.5mil) is a massive massive investments on the books, almost 22mil per year (if we give him a 4 year contract) and with no resale value whatsoever.

I can totally understand why he is not in our or any club's plans.

It's one of the newer ones. They figured they'd try to cash in on a bit of nostalgia while trying to become relevant again.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea: Should they sign him?

With Chelsea having missed out on Romelu Lukaku and decided to move on from Diego Costa, the Premier League champions are in need of a top-quality striker to lead the line for them in the forthcoming campaign. But who should it be?

Alvaro Morata is thought to be a Chelsea target, while Torino forward Andrea Belotti has also been linked with a summer switch. However, could Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang be an even better acquisition? Let's take a look…

THE GOAL STATS

Aubameyang scored 31 goals in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund last season. That total was bettered only by Lionel Messi in Europe's top five leagues. Take out penalties and even Messi was only two clear of the Gabon international.

This was no freak haul for the 28-year-old forward. His total of 40 goals in all competitions follows on from a 39-goal season in 2015/16. Over his four years in Germany, he averaged 30 per season and always scored more than in the previous campaign.

THE KEY STRENGTH

It is no surprise that Aubameyang has a love for Lamborghinis. Speed is important to him. Former coach Jurgen Klopp once described him as a "classic fast player" and Aubameyang himself has discussed the possibility of a race with Usain Bolt. He's quick.

It means he is a huge threat when afforded space in behind. Tellingly, Aubameyang's first nine goals for Saint-Etienne all came away from home. This is a player who can punish teams on the counter-attack and expose defences with a high line.

MORE TO HIS GAME

Under Thomas Tuchel, Aubameyang's game developed significantly, resulting in the best two seasons of his career. The transformation was instant, netting 22 goals in his first 18 appearances. "This is not a phase he is going through," said Tuchel. And so it proved.

Fears that Aubameyang would be ill-suited to a team playing with a slightly slower build-up proved unfounded. He has morphed into a penalty-box poacher as well as a speedster. Aubameyang is now a pure finisher capable of operating as the team's target in the area.

STAR QUALITY TOO

Costa was Chelsea's talisman last season, his goals winning more points than any other player in the Premier League. Aubameyang can be that clutch player too. For example, his goals won seven points for Dortmund in the final 10 minutes of games alone.

He has that big-game mentality as well, scoring home and away against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as well as in the derby at Schalke. Aubameyang is a showman and that is no big issue at Chelsea where a big character would be welcome in replacing Costa.

WHAT'S THE ISSUE?

At 28, Aubameyang is significantly older than the alternative striker options on the market this summer. Lukaku and Morata are both 24, while Belotti is a year younger at 23. All offer the prospect of resale value even if the transfers do not work out.

Making money on Aubameyang is still a possibility, of course. Particularly given the reports of interest from China. But the fear could be that a forward for whom pace is such a key aspect of his game will need to make further adjustments in the coming seasons.

THE BEST OPTION?

Even so, Conte understands that results are needed now at a club like Chelsea and in terms of likely productivity it is surely Aubameyang who represents the minimal risk signing. He has scored more goals than Morata and Belotti between them in the past two seasons.

Given the signs that he has matured into a man who can lead the line as well as run in behind, Aubameyang has the potential to play the Costa role and give Chelsea a new dimension too. Overlooking him could be a mistake.
