November 15, 20178 yr Take it with a pinch of salt but stories in a few tabloids about Moura joining us, and Willian going to China. I doubt there's any truth to it personally but you never know.
November 15, 20178 yr As an upgrade on Willian i like it. Having said that, i'd rather get rid of a winger and get someone in from another position. 3-5-2 is much better than the 3-4-3 so we don't need as many wingers.
November 15, 20178 yr Don't think he's an upgrade on Willian at all, probably worse. At least Willian plays well for Brazil.

He scored 19 goals last year, Willian hasn't come close to that output whilst being at Chelsea. Also 4 years younger.
November 15, 20178 yr Id take him. I think he would do well in England. Not sure why we have to raise funds by selling Willian though.
November 15, 20178 yr Not sure he'd add anything over Willian. In many ways he has similar issues. Great skills but little end product. Return of the Special Juan for free in the summer is my vote.

Mata Sanchez Ozil Can Goretzka Meyer de vrij asamoah Some bargains to be potentially had, although I'm sure we would have to pay massive wages, especially to the likes of Sanchez. Id love mata back as an impact sub though.

It's not as good as Lucas Moura's stats, but it's worth noting that Willian is playing in a much tougher league. I'm not sure there is much in this story. Willian has said he wants to stay in England to gain British citizenship. It's also a world cup year and going to China in January could really damage what could be his last chance to play in a world cup. Also, if we are going to be bringing in a winger better than Willian, he needs to be better than Pedro too. Lucas Moura may well be better than Willian, but i'm not sure if he is an upgrade on Pedro. Pedro has this knack for scoring goals out of nowhere and just when we need them, that isn't something that is easy to replace. In all honesty, i don't think Lucas Moura is anything special and i think we can do much better.

We need someone to take the pressure OFF hazard, not add more to it. I just hope we go all in for Sanchez, even if we have to sell willian to cover for his wages. Definitely would be worth it.

Willian isn't getting many minutes at chelsea, it could be what he needs. As for Lucas, no i don't think he is the answer to all of our problems. I personally don't think we should go back to a 3-4-3 and should invest in other positions. If Willian were to go we'd still have Eden/Pedro/Musonda fighting for the position behind Morata/Bats/Whoever else be bring in. 3 hours ago, didierforever said: I know you dont like Willian. I would honestly keep willian till the end of season. Selling him would mean buying a replacement, be it a CM (which would hamper RLC) or a back up winger (we are 1 injury away to going back to 3-4-3 anyways).
November 16, 20178 yr He's like a younger Willian with slightly better end product. Not too sure about him after what happened with Cuadrado. South American wingers tend to be hit and miss.
November 16, 20178 yr Only problem is once we put Willian on sale, you know Jose will ring up and somehow he will cut a deal with us. I don't think Willian will get better, so a younger Brazilian at a similar level is good for us.
November 16, 20178 yr If we are serious about playing 352 then it's a bit of a pointless signing really.

Unless he can also be the playmaker ala Di Maria for Real Madrid. ---- At the very least, he's more positive than Willian at taking on opponents when Willian 90% of the time dribbles the ball backwards

Caught me there but the stats do show that Willian has a negative possession score this season probably due to him not being in good form at the moment. http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix#premier_league/2017/2018/willian/819/819/7145/0/p|premier_league/2016/2017/willian/819/641/7145/0/p|ligue_1/2017/2018/lucas_moura/822/822/4038/0/p|ligue_1/2016/2017/lucas_moura/822/629/4038/0/p#total_forward_passes/total_backward_passes/total_passes/successful_passes/pass_completion/key_passes/chances_created/avg_pass_length/successful_take_ons_%/fouls_suffered/successful_take_ons/total_duels_%/goals_scored/possession_score#avg I used average per game but you can use whatever metric. They are similar type of players but the stats don't take into account of playing styles of the team so take it with a pinch of salt. So, as it stands, last season's stats pretty much show that they're pretty similar with Willian the better dribbler but Lucas having more end product. This season Lucas played so little so it's hard to gauge.
November 17, 20178 yr No thanks! Still hold Willian to a high enough regard, he's just going through a tough patch. Any Premier League team would take Willian, he'd go straight in 16/20 starting line ups.

I second both of these, I dont think Lucas is any sort of improvement over Willian other than age. Plus Willian hates Tottenham
November 17, 20178 yr Interesting vid - remember Lucas played more footy last year and in Ligue 1 too. They say one of his strenghts are keeping hold of the ball though ... not so sure about that.
