January 18, 20188 yr These types of signings are pure compromise. "We failed trying to get someone, let's bring the option number 2, 3...". No, don't do that. Don't buy these unknown, "promising" players. If you don't buy some real class, then give chance to our own talents. Zapacosta, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Caroll potentially and even Alonso, despite he appeared to be a good transfer, all of these transfers completely unnecessary. So you'd prefer kenedy to alonso or palmieri?

Again, who would you have preferred to these signings? You’ve yet to suggest a name. Tolisso and Walker were the targets alternative to Baka/Drinkwater/Zappacosta, Tolisso went to his dream club Bayern and Spurs won’t sell us anyone. Who else were we supposed to get?

How do you know it's compromise if you know nothing about him? It's like me claiming your an absolute imbecile after admitting I know nothing about you......
January 18, 20188 yr To me, the sad thing is that the club needs depth. Any other top tier team would look at Moses and understand that he's a decent player but they'd also understand his limitations. We're happy providing depth by getting Zappacosta, an arguably worst player where as the big boys would be looking to get someone better, therefore creating depth.

I think we do have depth yet unfortunately as you suggest we lack quality as I agree all our wide backs have restrictions. It is sad for Conte he has not got the sharp tools to deliver his style of football.

January 18, 20188 yr Haven't seen a Dzeko thread but the deal includes Palmieri, so here: 50 million + Batshuayi on loan for Dzeko and Pamieri. Roma wants 65.

January 18, 20188 yr Am I the only one who thinks 65m is crazy money for these two? I would have said 40m tops. 25m for Emerson and 15m for Dzeko.
January 18, 20188 yr Author Will take our spending to what, £250 million and still the squad seems miles away, problem is we are lumbered with several mediocre players, im preying we make top 4 this season and have a good turn over in players in the summer

It's 2018, not 2008. 65m is as cheap as you're going to get these days, unfortunately. We need players, and these two would certainly add quality to our squad. I don't mind a bit of haggling, but if we lose out on these two squabbling over a few mill here and there I'm gonna be pretty annoyed.

Numbers don’t add up though; if Palmieri has a release clause of £25m, are we valuing Dzeko at £40m? Transfer spending has been a shambles. You don’t potentially spend £250m on new players and have no real quality to point out.
January 19, 20188 yr Palmieri and Dzeko are both quality additions to the squad. It brings depth in positions where we lack it. Dzeko is a serious upgrade from Batshuai and Palmieri can surely compete with Alonso.

Haven't you been following the transfer market lately? And we entered Crazy Country years ago anyway. Two for £65m is a snip nowadays, even with a Bats loan thrown in. And I'm proud of this, because I don't wanna know every mediocre player and try to turn him into a star only because my club is interested in him. Second best left back in Seria A, ha-ha-ha, that's pathetic. were you not embarrassed typing something as stupid as this?
January 19, 20188 yr 25mln is a fair price, he stunned everyone last season in Rome after starting with that horrible performance against Porto in the CL. Solid both in attacking and in defense, but the ACL tear is a big question mark, when he returned vs Torino in Italian Cup he had a disgusting performance, failing every defensive action.

Well, that´s pretty normal for a player returning from a ACL, he just needs some action
January 19, 20188 yr Deal is done from the looks of it. Pretty strange to me that we'd buy another Left-Back when we've got Marcos Alonso and Alex Sandro coming in soon.

The way people are writing him off is really pissing me off. 99% of these people never even watched him kick a ball, and yet all i hear is bitching non stop. The dude is a freaking excelent player, certainly better than Alex Sandro was when he was 23, but the mere fact that he is no the latter, is enough for people to sh*t on him. Everyone in this thread guilty of it is going to look extremely stupid in a few months
