January 28, 20188 yr Seems like Conte might be walking away at the end of the season. Is Enrique a good fit or is this just more nonsense? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5320631/Former-Barcelona-boss-Luis-Enrique-line-Chelsea-job.html
January 28, 20188 yr Probably just more media speculation to go with the rumours Conte is off. I do think Conte is off but I think we’ll just be linked with anyone for now.
January 28, 20188 yr If there is a handbrake on the clubs spending, would Enrique want to come here if he encounters the same issues that Conte seems to think there is, so he can't bring in players of his choosing that will strengthen the club?
January 28, 20188 yr I don't think he'd be a good fit personally, Barca arguably regressed during his time. If we're looking to stick with 3-4-3 I think we'd be better off looking at the likes of Nagelsmann or Tedesco. Edited January 28, 20188 yr by the special one

Its the best job in football. Do it for a year, get sacked, walk away with a £10m pay off and go straight into another job. Who wouldn't want the Chelsea job.

I'd rather give Carlo another spin tbh. 1 hour ago, the special one said: I don't think he'd be a good fit personally, Barca arguably regressed during his time. Treble in his first year, double in his second year. So he had a bad third year. Big deal. He has proven to be a very good coach. Might be just the kind of coach Hazard needs too. But I worry about Marina and our recent spending, especially considering how we've been penny pinching for even the average players we're targeting (just look at the Dzeko negotiations). I want to believe this is just Marina trying to go over and beyond to show Roman she can save him some money, in which case she needs to be booted out. Pity we don't have the likes of Drogba and Lampard around to march straight to Roman for a word. However, if this is Roman himself trying not to spend, then I think it's time for him to sell to a new owner. He has been fantastic for us but considering the state of the market these days, the moves we're making means we might be stuck in the "average but still top club" bracket. Once upon a time we were REALLY close in quality on the pitch to the Barcas and Bayerns of the world and looked primed to break into that bracket. We've regressed now. I wonder if this penny pinching would have continued if Roman got his once-upon-a-time wish of hiring Pep.
January 28, 20188 yr Who knows ...all speculation right now. Depends how we do in the CL and whether we end up in the top 4. A long way to yet before the end of the season. Edited January 28, 20188 yr by CFCCAN
January 28, 20188 yr I reckon we might have another stab at getting Simeone when Conte leaves. Failing that I reckon we'll be looking at Allegri or Tuchel.
January 28, 20188 yr If he leaves, we'll probably go for that guy someone quoted the other day, who says he doesn't care about getting involved with transfers and just works with whoever the club bring in.

I don’t want Simeone. I don’t want another “win at all costs” type coach. If we do change manager I hope we go with someone who will look to make our play expansive, high tempo and attacking. There’s nothing wrong with playing on the counter attack but we’ve been down that road plenty of times before.

January 28, 20188 yr If we were to go for anyone I'd go for Carlo or Tuchel. Both very different but both interesting.

January 29, 20188 yr Sexy football 3.0. We all remember Scolari and AVB, dont we? This makes sense though in terms of the reluctance from the board to a) extend Conte's contract and b) give him significant input in the transfer market. Roman's still chasing the beautiful football dream. And I enjoyed Barca under Enrique. They had options in their style of play.
January 29, 20188 yr You don't really think that's appliable in our case, I hope? Barca with Iniesta in his prime, Messi in his prime, Suarez in his prime, Neymar in his prime, still Xavi, Rakitic in his prime and Chelsea with Hazard and... ? The things are gonna get ugly very fast if he arrives at the bridge.
January 29, 20188 yr 7 hours ago, BordeauxBlue said: or Tuchel. Tuchel is the weaker version of Enrique. Same naive, "romantic" football but at least our man has coached Roma and Barcelona and had great success at time.
January 29, 20188 yr Yeah maybe I'm believing the Tuchel hype a bit. We'll see - not sure any are better than Antonio anyway.

February 5, 20188 yr So according to the rumour mill, Enrique wants Reus if he is to take charge of Chelsea. Makes no sense whatsoever.
February 5, 20188 yr He's won doubles & trebles with Barcelona. Most notably the UEFA Champions League. Luis Enrique is the best candidate to replace Conte.
