Who would be your choice as Chelsea manager going into next season? 213 members have voted

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

    • Luis Enrique

    • Massimilliano Allegri

    • Carlo Ancelotti

    • Diego Simeoni

We may aswell just stick him on garden leave, if a job crops up during the season and he really wants it he’ll have to break his contract.

He'll probably want the gardens at Blenheim Palace, and complain when he gets the tea lady's plot

Not that I want Howe, but what do you expect him to do at Bournemouth? CHallenge for europe? Win the FA cup? He's doing basically the best he can with the club he's managing. Unless he moves to a bigger team, with better players and finances, he's unlikely to ever win anything, but he won't be considered for a bgiger club, because he hasn#t won anything. These younger English managers really don't stand much of a chance. Same goes for Dyche at Burnley, and he's done arguably better than Howe.

Not about what I expect @Zeta  I am truly interested in why people keep  punting Howe and wonder what it is that they see that makes them think he is capable of managing a top European side with the huge (and  mostly unrealistic) expectations of our fanbase, the press, our owner and board.

Sure, he seems a pleasant enough bloke, has done well in the lower leagues, and maintained a mid-to-low finish in the premier league for three seasons, but there must be more than that, surely?  I don't see what it is and I was genuinely asking what it is.  I don't have any axe to  grind or opinions either way on the bloke.

I’m sick of changing managers so often, I dread to think how many managers we’ve had since Roman.

Why does everything always go wrong? Is it the managers or is it the board?

Did Conte have unrealistic expectations on summer transfers or did the board mess around?

Conte clearly is one of the best around, but typical Chelsea we end up on bad terms, beyond repair.

I’ll post this very post again in 2 or 3 years time.

Imagine believing that Chelsea would leave it to the absolute last minute to TALK to managers. If we are getting a new manager they have been approached and negotiated with. Meanwhile our season actually isn't over and we actually still have a manager so why would anyone announce anything.

Scenes if Conte is still here next season. Media would have to do literal backflips to justify how they're actually still correct and how we were literally spurned by every manager everywhere.

I think a lot of it comes down to wanting a young, English manager for once at Chelsea. When was the last time we had an English manager? Rix? Hoddle? It would be a breath of fresh air.

Yes, you've made a good point about Howe, but I'd take him in a heartbeat. I don't harbour the same grudges against Conte a lot of people do on here- after all, he won us another title by changing tactics and formation and outfoxing the entire premier league in an instant.

But the way he has just switched off this season, clearly wanting to be anywhere but here- pisses me off. I don't see Howe doing such a thing. He has ploughed his trade in the lower leagues and would dig in when the going gets tough.

Well let's hope,  eh @Blueblur  There's a lot riding on it for a lot of our fans.  I'm not defending Conte in anyway,  but young and English?  Surely there has to be more than that?

Yes, there most certainly is more to it than that. But this is just my personal preference. Sick of seeing foreign managers come and go every season or two. I want to give a manger time. Our youth squad aren't developed or integrated due to our chop-and-change manager rota, which is a crying shame since we have the best youth players out there.

I just want English!

All news reports are pointing to Sarri signing a new contract and staying at Napoli which is a shame as I felt he would have done well here

The thing that worries me most is that it's looking like the board haven't even got a manager lined up right now, they've basically known for a while that Conte would be likely to leave at the end of the season so you would have thought we would have already have a manager lined up to replace him

The transfer window is now open and will close earlier, the World Cup is just around the corner and it will be difficult to sign players while that's taking place. After the major f**k ups by the board in the Summer which is one of the reasons for us finishing outside the top 4 you'd have thought the board would have learned and made amends this Summer

I may be wrong and we may already have a manager lined up to replace Conte after the FA Cup final and we're keeping it on the low but I feel that's being too optimistic. We still haven't got a DOF either

I don't want to be negative but I feel this could be another very frustrating Summer

How a week can change perceptions. We have gone from looking like setting our house in order and reports of planning to build a long lasting project to afraid of potentially missing out on all targets as we twiddle our thumbs waiting for Conte to quit.

It's like the people who make the decisions at this club genuinely don't want to make any decisions regarding the club and just want to sit around doing nothing. This is the type of sh*t that university students do, sit around for months until the last minute before quickly rushing in a load of work before the deadline. It's not how a company should run.

I'm becoming more and more worried for next season now.

Or waiting for the season to actually end?

Exactly. If the club have decided to part ways with Antonio at the end of the season they are hardly going to announce it a few days before the Cup final! Lets wait and see what happens after the weekend. In the meantime we've got a cup final to enjoy/endure depending on your outlook.
