I haven’t seen any credible source reporting this and there’s been rumors about Man U being after him for over a year, so not too worried about it.

Think we need to put this rumour of Sancho coming to us to bed. He is one of the hottest young properties in Europe, and is being chased by the biggest clubs in the World, let's not kid ourselves, we feed off a lower table these days. So Real Madrid, United and Liverpool interested in him, let's not embarrass ourselves, we can't compete with them, when it comes to signing top players. 

If we can't compete with Utd we should stop playing football and close the club.

Most likely scenario I can see happening is Sancho staying at Dortmund for another year and joining Chelsea in 2021. Really can't see him going to Utd over us, and the main reason we might not sign him in the summer is because of ffp, and frankly we need to spend most our money on the defence

Why would financial fair play come into play? We have had nothing but sales over the past year, besides Kovacic, and with more sales to come this summer it doesn’t seem like we would be in danger of breaching FFP.

well hes looking to cost around 120m, and its probably not wise to dump that much money on one player when his position is okay for the time being. Might be more wise for us to spend more on defence and other problem areas

Ok that’s a reasonable idea, however, that has nothing to do with FFP. Especially if we will spend that much money either way.

Big loss last year don't forget ... so the board will have to take that into account when planning our expenditure, in order to ensure we meet the FFP guidelines.

Sure but that was the year ending June 30. So the Hazard money and all other sales and loan fees we have collected will go on this year and offset any loss and then some. Plus the Morata money will finely come due. FFP is not much of an issue.

Problem is spending £120 mill or on several players will mean we will end up with the Zappers, Drinkwater's and Bakajoko's of this world

well it does have a little to do with FFP, because if we dropped 120m on Sancho and still spent a ton of money on all the other areas that need upgrades.. Then im not sure we can actually afford that. Especially if we are looking into bringing world class players and not more drinkwaters and papy's

Thats true, but we have Marina! Ziyech only cost us 35m, and Telles is looking like it could be as low as 20m which is 55m total for 2 very good signings!

The 120m could be used on 2 world class signings! A top CB and maybe a striker like Werner as well

I think we can afford that and plenty more without worrying about FFP. I had a long post in another thread that I’ll try and find, that broke down, based on outgoing sales from this past summer, players likely to be sold this summer, and players that have already agreed to join a club permanently (Morata). We are so far into the black it’s almost laughable. Without counting the Hazard money, which could reach as much as £130m, we still should see comfortably north of £200m come in via player sales this summer. That’s in addition to whatever budget the club has worked in to the business for transfers (we’ve never really been a club that has been stretched financially as to where we needed to sell players before we could buy them anyways, at least in the Roman era).

Now, just because we have all of that money, doesn’t mean we will turn around and spend every penny. That’s with good reason, considering it’s likely a sum of roughly £350m or more. But it certainly gives us a good amount to buy players with without needing to worry about FFP as everything will be offset.

A more specific example. Just the Hazard and Morata money with pay us a minimum of £146m and maximum of £186m. I think it’s fair to say we will have a few of the kickers activated with Hazard and get more than the minimum there. So, with Ziyech costing roughly £37m, and Sancho £120m, we are coming out ahead just on these 4 transactions and could come out well ahead - upwards of £29m. That’s before we buy anyone else. We’re in good shape.

We wouldnt drop 120m outright on him as far as FFP is concerned, it would be amortised so it would depend on the length of the contract as to the impact per year.

Fair enough, do you have the full post of the outgoings by any chance? Just want to take a look at it.

I do agree that we still have a lot to gain from player sales, but I just can't see the club spending every penny we make from it back into the transfer market.

I think we need to go all out for Sancho as the alternative is for him to end up at Manchester United, they are our closest rivals at this moment in time and the Sancho signing ultimately could be the difference between the 2 teams in the short term future. It is even more vital that we get one of the elite youngsters currently available in the market and Sancho seems like the most realistic acquisition for Chelsea, Werner is likely to end up at Liverpool, Martinez has his heart set on Barcelona & Haaland has recently moved to Dortmund.

We have to sell before we can buy and the latest rumblings from Woodward suggests we're a bit brassic and will have to sell before we can buy. £100 million is a lot for a youngster and we won't get anything like that for Pogba so I'd say he won't be coming to United. Dortmund don't have to sell and there's also the issue of City's first dibs on the player if he leaves.

I have not seen any reports, anywhere, that indicate that Citeh has first rights to him should he be on the move - where are you seeing this?

It was in the Manchester Evening News some time ago. It's not a first pick as I stated but if City match any fee offered to Dortmund, they move to the head of the queue. At least that's how I read it but the MEN is a pretty piss-poor paper these days so you never know.

That's true. I still don't think he'll come to us unless we unload Sanchez and/or Pogba. More wishful thinking in my opinion. I suppose that puts you in pole position if he does leave Germany.
