June 14, 20224 yr Seems like they're doing all the business in silence, if something is close it won't be leaked. Trusted journalists close to the club are only getting crumbs or scraps from the club. It's probably better this way, whilst other teams may know we're in for someone by not announcing to the world who we're directly targeting it helps stop teams trying to poach our deals last minute. Currently they'll be working on about 4 or 5 deals. Lukaku getting moved out, getting in a replacement striker, Dembele on a free and Kounde. Add in this American goalkeeper who everyone is raving about and you can see its all very busy behind the scenes. Also the squad is quite bloated with all these loan returns, the board wlll want to make some sales before bringing in more first teamers especially in midfield and forward areas. Koulibaly is another we've supposedly been in talks with. We just need to be patient guys I'm sure they know what they're doing.

He shouldn't have been playing for France though. https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2022/6/14/23166795/jules-kounde-set-to-undergo-surgery-for-long-term-hamstring-issue
June 14, 20224 yr We don't bring at least one DM we are in for another rough season from midfield. Gallagher is nice but he can't play in a pivot and I'm sick to death of Kovacic/Kante being in the hospital bed and Jorginho moving like a turtle + seeing his pathetic lobbed passes.

Don't know if that's better or worse? https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/jules-kounde-surgery-chelsea-fc-transfer-b1005992.html
June 14, 20224 yr Oh so its a Sports Hernia. That's a lot better as this can be easily rehabilitated after surgery.
June 14, 20224 yr Think we should be show patience with the new owners. They have inherited a mess. Lukaku, players like Batman, Barkley and Baka plus others costing fortunes and not playing, then others like Werner playing and producing dross for huge wages. They are not Roman, they cannot write off such huge losses and then spend hundreds of millions and adding to the debt. They will need time to sort out the board and sort out the squad. As it is the previous lot through we should renew Baka before his loan to Milan instead of cutting our losses and getting his wages rid off. If that means we go in to the season with only small additions, or just the returning Gallagher, Colwill and Broja so be it. TT makes the best of it and we lower our expectations.

I thought we were basically debt free, after Roman wrote off the 1.5 mill owed, all debts would be accounted for after this years January window???

Still owe Inter 72mill on Lukaku, still have to pay Werner 275k a week to be garbage, still have to pay huge sums to Baka, Batman, Barkley and others to not play.
June 14, 20224 yr Our 11 IF TT cannot recruit anyone decent is pretty good still, is squad depth where we would hurt. In the usual 343: Mendy Dave Silva Colwill Chalobah James Gallagher/Kovacic Chilwell Mount Havertz Broja In a 4-1-4-1: Mendy James Silva Colwill Chilwell Chalobah CHO Gallagher Kovacic Mount Havertz/Broja

None are DMs. That is why Tuchel opts for a double pivot.

June 14, 20224 yr Really suprised we didn't go for Bissouma, 25m is an absolute steal. Declan Rice would cost at least 4x that (and watching him for England really not sure he's worth that much) Edited June 14, 20224 yr by Drogba1
June 15, 20224 yr The new owners spend money like drunken sailors for the Dodgers. They literally buy titles. I am certain they will do the same here. That being said, I think the late sale of the club will make transfers much harder this summer. Also, we are bringing back young loan players who will need time to develop. So I might limit expectations for 22-23, folks. Edited June 15, 20224 yr by KingOfMilwaukee
June 15, 20224 yr The new owners have just spent billions buying the club, they will have to have raised this money somehow so likely wont have a nice big wallet full of dollars to just immediately go on a spending spree. The lack of patience on here is amazing at times, its becoming more and more like the twitter sh*t fest every day unfortauntely.

The one thing we haven’t got time for this summer, is prolonging talks for central defenders in order to extract a lower fee. Other clubs will know we will need them in place for the start of a shortened pre season and quote accordingly. It’s important if a deal can’t be struck ,move on. A back three of Chalobah,Silva Sarr is scary.
June 15, 20224 yr Excuse me all, I’m sure the deal to buy, was to have the readies to invest, so know worries there, Todd n Co are vastly richer than Roman, so chill ya beans, and watch this space??

Boehly has said many times the team needs to win titles to be a successful business. He will follow that path and it means our academy will be strong and we will keep on buying prime talent available.

I suspect we will bring in a more experienced option this summer too. If Guehi continues to develop at Palace we might be able to bring him back in a season or 2. From what I understand we have a clause in the contract where we get first option on him.
