Fair point but thus was not part of the fanfare coming into this. Whilst much may well be unsubstantiated media gossip the expectation would be statement signing to announce the new reign. Neymar, de Ligt, Lewandowski, Isco. All were mooted. All we have been seriously linked with are goalkeeper youngsters.

Meanwhile all of our rivals are moving in the market for easily achievable transfer fees

It won't be long before the media sniff out a story and start saying that there are major problems behind the scenes.

Im sure some announcements will be made soon but we also need to accept the fact that there are more than just transfers going on at the club. The whole board/people working upstairs is being overhauled as well as other business activities such as sponsors. We can't expect to have such a quick transfer window like our rivals who already have their club set up. If they UK government didnt f**k us over all of that could have been done during the season but now the club has a lot on their hands with transfers. contracts and other stuff behind the scenes.

On the plus side if we are Arsenal broke with most funds headings towards a stadium rebuild we can still introduce some of our young players and hopefully continuing Masons and Reeces development, as well as expecting better of Kai.

Why is everyone pissing the bed? Our rivals weren’t just taken over and aren’t restructuring. Romans model wasn’t sustainable hence 1.5 billion in debt, silly signings, manager turn over, it worked while it worked but that approach couldn’t last forever.

I think a lot of the things the new owner said makes sense and if we went in blazing buying everyone available to appease impatient fans it would literally contradict everything he said about making our model more like Liverpool, it takes time chill out window is open for another 10 weeks.

Prioroty 1 is obviously unloading a very expensive under performing player so we know where we stand and it’s a bit of a complicated deal.

Don’t imagine things aren’t happening in the background.

Priority 1 is getting 2 CBs. Arguably our best player from last season has left for free and we have no replacements lined up. We can all see the need for a more prudent approach fiscally, as long as we are all going to be happy with 6th - 8th this coming season, probably having lost one of the best managers in the game.

If we aren't trying to compete for the league and are trying to make top 4 again there's not much that needs to be done really.

Conor is in. We need a CB and Kounde is probably in process. Then it's about moving Lukaku on and bringing in a new striker and/or Broja.

Even if there's minimal activity the squad will be ready.

Is Kounde in process. From what I see any player that we were linked with has now gone cold. Kounde wants Barca, Dembele staying. Anybody else the press linked us never even got to talking stage.

I'm certain this guy wants the wage bill down so they are all on similar money. Therefore we won't be doing anything until peoplemove on and let's be honest who the hell would be interested in Malang Sarr on 120k pw. In fact who would be interested on 120k p/y

To be fair City and Pool already have well-oiled machines that have probably been scouting for talent throughout the whole season. We are literally overhauling the whole hierarchy of our club we shouldn't be comparing our transfer activity to them.

But surely anybody with any business sense knows you don't do that. Yes we were sanctioned, yes we had an oligarch underwriting the debt of the club, but we are the most successful club in english football for the last ten years. It wasn't broken. Therefore, you come in, learn and work to the current model and then mould it to your own business model whilst maintaining success.

Given it the large one coming in, going to do this and that £200m war chest to provide initial support and then nothing. Not a nibble.

Pi$$ing off the manager so he leaves, undermining the dressing room rapport so that the remaining talent, Mount, James want to go to an ambitious club, and then hiking up ticket prices and squeezing out some sort of TV and media deal so it ends up costing us £40 a time to watch the same sterile sh*t on TV each week, frankly is a slower form of the same death that we were looking at a month ago.

Could be shopping in Aldi's for players by then. Teemu Pukki, woohoo. 😁

Thats the spirit.

Boehly's constant references to the Liverpool doctrine and how their strategy for income/expenditure (i.e. transfers) will be the blueprint he bases Chelsea's on is extremely worrying. After all, FSG's approach has essentially been to invest zero of their personal wealth in to the club and luck out by hiring a generational-level manager, who does for them what Alex Ferguson did for the Glazers. I should reference that they did of course hire Dalglish/Rodgers before Klopp, almost missing out on Klopp due to their prolonged loyalty to Rodgers. For Boehly to repeatedly portray FSG as some kind of Moneyball-mastering role models is either extremely naive or extremely disingenuous of him.

To demonstrate, FSG took over Liverpool in 2010, with their biggest signings for each season to 2016 listed below:

  • 2010/2011 - Andy Carroll - £37m
  • 2011/2012 - Stuart Downing - £21m
  • 2012/2013 - Joe Allen - £17m
  • 2013/2014 - Mamadou Sakho - £17m
  • 2014/2015 - Adam Lallana - £28m
  • 2015/2016 - Cristian Benteke - £42m

The 2015-2016 season was when Klopp joined, which is when the glorification of FSG happened to begin. I hope against hope that this isn't the route Boehly intends to take Chelsea down.

Our majority owners are a hedge fund, I believe the primary goal of our ownership will be to make money.

And you don’t need to win much if anything to do that. Top four and sell one of those cheap buys to a City/Real every couple of years and job done.

Dangerous for the owners to assume top 4 with our current squad though. Spurs arsenal Man Utd are all moving forwards whilst we have taken a step back with our best defender leaving. As it stands I think we would miss out.

Looks like he's made an announcement.

Perhaps we need to lower our expectations? Maybe this season get realistic and forget about catching Citeh and the scousers? Tottenham, Arsenal and United are our main rivals now. The ones we have to stop overtaking us.

Quick edit. Should probably add Newcastle to the list. With their superior spending power they will most likely make rapid improvement this season.

We were successful yes but we weren't flawless. If anything, the club has struggled to make it's own profit over the years and we've mostly only been able to be afloat because of Roman's spending and him writing off our debt. Roman isn't here anymore so we obviously have to change the club's model, it wouldn't make sense to follow the same formula now that Roman is gone. We can't afford buy expensive players that turn into flops or hire and fire managers anymore, for example. We need to hit the mark with our signings and show support to our managers.

I also think those are a lot of assumptions considering we are literally still in June, pre-season hasn't even started and the new season is still over a month away. Not to mention, Tuchel is being given more control over transfers than before so I'm not sure how that will piss him off. I also highly doubt James and Mount's contracts won't be sorted before the start of the season.

Honestly feel a lot of people here are being pessimistic when its still the early days of the off-season. I can understand the panic if we were at the end of July and nothing has happened yet but not now.

I think we definitely won't be spending as much as the Roman era but more in the sense of not risking 100mil on players like Lukaku rather than not spending all.

wtf!

That is a sly way of saying they wont be spending!

Same sponser in all with 3, Think this is looking well eggy

Hope im wrong but the red flags are already being placed tbh

As the chuckle brothers would say ''dear oh dear!''

theyve signed an agreement that they have to spend, even ensuring roman so the fact hes directly quoted is not good folks.

There are Bargains to be had if you can persuade to join, look at Haaland, and the BS around what we allegedly slapped down last summer, so he knows they have to spend, or that 4.2 billion is going to be a laughable waste.

I think he’s saying there won’t be 200 million sales anymore, unless your RM or PSG…

I hope they spend zero this summer, say they need to release players, use youth. Just to see the fallout, crying and whining from certain sections of our fan base. It would be glorious.

Yes let's rely on the youth section that narrowly avoided relegation this season
