I was hoping he might have a chance to stake a claim here as LWB backup. It's all relative though isn't it ... Coventry also had Todd Kane and Fankaty Dabo playing a lot of minutes for them last season, neither of whom were close to making it with us either .... Premier League is a huge step up ...

I'm not convinced by him anything close to as much as I was James or am Colwill but if we are letting Alonso go I'd have rather the back up place went to him (unless Tuchel is thinking outside the box with the Chilwell alternative like he did when James was unavailable/playing CB). The thought of Emerson back in this squad in such a crucial position is horrible. We know he won't cut it and while Maatsen may not either, he might, and hope is a big thing in football.
June 25, 20224 yr This would be quite something. If it were to happen I think it would mostly be a commercial play to be honest. Still a good player mind and could potentially smash them in for us but who better to jumpstart a new spring commercially than Ronaldo? Boehly clearly sees the importance of upping our commercial value by a lot and it is definitly something that needs to be done if we intend to compete with the best teams going forward.

We should have gone in for him last summer given we just looked at the top line and got what we thought would guarantee goals (I doubt United would have panic hijacked us like they did City). But now I'll just leave it, we've shown we can get enough team goals despite our lack of a specialist (we best 3 of our 5 title winning tallies last time out) and I'll rather we just carried on with the evolution of the team. Unless ofcourse Boehly is demanding the title at all costs next season then the conversation changes.

Come on, there’s been a heck lot of stuff going on behind the scenes, with Buck and Marina going, Boehly taking up the director role. Show some patience man

I think it's easy to get spoilt in football for sure, but this summer I think we need to give our transfers some time. City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs will have been aware of their targets and transfer budget for months, we didn't even know who our owner was going to be a month or so ago, let alone how much we would have to spend and now this week we've seen news about Buck and Marina leaving their positions, with Marina specifically being integral to our transfer policy. If the reports are accurate Boehly has been working tirelessly this week to get the ball rolling with several transfers so hopefully soon we will see some officially coming in.

I think it's obvious getting the back room sorted has been the priority since the takeover completed, and rightly so. This is the perfect situation to tidy this mess of a squad up now, and I hope we don't just sign anyone who's available rather than the ones we want who maybe aren't achievable this summer. We need to look long term rather than just fill in.

Bettering 3 of our 5 title winning tallies in terms of goals scored, but still battling to secure top four until the final stages of the season just shows how much the league has changed over the years. If we aim to at least close the gap on City and Liverpool we desperately need a proven no.9. I can't name a better solution than Ronaldo...

He probably would do a lot better than Lukaku but still, he doesn’t press. We’ve seen how much of a difference it makes having a striker that press the opponent. Personally I think he’d be a flop and I hope we aren’t stupid enough to spend so icy on him.

June 27, 20224 yr I’m always amazed at how long transfers take. I think football manager has distorted peoples views and we forget they are multi million pound buys.

June 27, 20224 yr Seems Cech has left also, you would hope Boehly know what he is doing. The whole getting directly involved in transfer negotiations as an owner/investor is wild, and a recipe for disaster IMO but we will assess it after the window closes.
