What does Terry do exactly? Feels like the Club just offered him a redundant role until he gets a managerial gig. Wouldn't be surprised if Boehly lets him go too.

No-one is going near him.
June 27, 20224 yr We were promised at least two marquee signings. With that said would you guys regard Raheem Sterling and MDL as marquee signings? My current stance is yes, with the belief at least one more player would be coming in that would be a household or headline name i.e. similar level/ability/higher tier players.

The whole getting directly involved in transfer negotiations as an owner/investor is wild, and a recipe for disaster IMO but we will assess it after the window closes. I'm certain Todd has a plan. Probably going to play himself at Centre-forward.

I don't consider Sterling a marquee signing, i would prefer we spent that money somewhere else.

Depends, what do you consider as Marquee? To me that term should be only for the likes of Beckham, Michael Jordan, Michael Schumacher, Pete Sampras, Wayne Gretzky, Drogba etc etc. If that is the case, then absolutely not. One City view as a backup, the other is unproven in a decent league.
June 28, 20224 yr As some of you already mentioned, we don't actually know how good Big Pete was in this role, so it's way too early for any question marks over decision which I considered inevitable after Marina left the club. Only time will show whether Boehly was right. From a purely supporter perspective I'm far from delighted for this, but as I said it was looming over in the previous week or so. Lots of things going on behind the scenes. I guess we'll have to be patient...
June 28, 20224 yr I am fed up, checking my phone around 100 times per day, for news of Chelsea transfers? I know that Todd has to get his feet under the table, try to understand what running a huge Premier League club is all about, but given this, why the hell has he let all of the people who could have advised him leave the Club? I just don't get it, and really do have concerns about signings and squad strength in the coming season. Apart from DeLigt I am not impressed by any of our targets and regrettably am a bit jealous of the Liverpool and City actions.

They get to sign better players than us. Liverpool? They've lost mane, are going to lose Salah and signed one player from the Portuguese league off the back of one season for up to 100m. It's a big gamble. If we sign sterling de ligt dembele and ake that's a great window.

June 28, 20224 yr No issue with his Wholesale change, we haven't won a title for 5 years and never looked like challenging, the change has to come. So far the focus appeared to be shifting Lukaku out, once that's settled we will see some real movements. I don't believe the man paid 4.5B just to sit still and let the club runs down, he will invest but likely to take the business approach than running a hobby farm.

Spot on as always. I like the bit about under Roman, mistakes didn’t seem to have consequences- he just wrote them off. No learning or planning.

I would define a marquee signings as a big name that would attract fanfare, immediately improve the squad and you would hope be a positive character in the dressing room. Not necessarily be the "guy", perhaps more one of the main guys hence multiple marquee signings and not one in our case. For me the players you mentioned I would call them more franchise players. I would differentiate marquee signings from franchise players just because teams tend to have maybe 1 or 2 truly elite players who are the face of the team that was Hazard for us who is yet to be replaced. If Sterling is intended to finally be that player then fair enough I see your point, I'm not so sure though I think he's just a good player available and probably what we need. Don't get me wrong though, a marquee signing can be/become the franchise player for the brand by my definition, however I wouldn't say Sterling or MDL are being brought to be that for us. Currently I suppose its Kanté, but as last season has shown the franchise/brand is currently the manager like with City and Liverpool, they are Pep and Klopp and slowly that's what we're trying to do. Alongside the academy, Mount and James specifically look placed to be the faces of the team. Kai could be added to this and Pulisic (for his nationality) and if he becomes more consistent.

Yeah, there was no accountability at the very top. Managers were in the firing line constantly but the people actually running the club were untouchables. I guess that's what happens when your director is the owners close friend and previous PA since the mid 90s and the entire board as well was made up of individuals with close ties to Roman.

Whenever i mention the sibneft essentially mafia level stuff I get castigated to the 'know nothing' camp! And I agree with you about bosses taking hits as they're ultimately responsible just like TT and Boehly will be moving forward with regards to player acquisitions etc Its well reported Boehly was heavily involved in player purchases at the dodgers and the other clubs he is involved in etc Boehly also went to london school of economics and worked at Citibank for a while, Ive a funny feeling he used to watch us and explains his bid to buy us back in 2014 I'm fairly confident things will work out but i doubt it will be all rainbows and lollipops!
June 28, 20224 yr What's with all these rumours of players plus money swaps? It ain't NBA Todd, we don't do trades here. I can't believe I was forced to sell my club to this bloody Yank.

Surely quite smart to try and offload a number of players who haven't performed to expectations, and that most of us have been complaining about ever since they arrived ? It instantly sets the standard and raises the bar for those that remain, or are new arrivals ... a very positive move in my book.
