In fact , most huge organisations are involved in tax evasion and unethical practices. And you're right the world cup in Qatar is an example where morality is ignored in place of wealth..

Yep hate betting companies my mom worked for one for a long time the stories you hear it’s heartbreaking. She had a wife come in asmd begged her to stop a guy betting £1000’s a week, the guys dad would come in and make the same request too but she couldn’t do anything as she can’t stop him betting. She would report it to head office but nothing gets done as he was losing £000’s and the shop was making a killing from him. They had a business so he would take the money out of the business and lose it.

The concerning aspect of the sponsor debacle is that Clearlake ‘should’ be so well connected yet the best we can get is a short-term deal with a betting company.

Those were my thoughts too but I think the 'big sponsors' are probably waiting to see how this year goes because of how turbulent last season was before making in big commitments. There are still a lot of question marks on Chelsea under the new ownership so I don't think people are willing to take a risk of investment until they see us qualify for Europe this season.

Not to mention, alcohol, smoking and fast food companies all run on a similar ethos as gambling companies where they capitalize on people's addictions. Electronic companies also make use of slave labour in Congo (and Im assuming everyone here is using an electronic otherwise they wouldn't be online). Basically, no company is an angel. If the people want to take the moral high ground on a betting company then they should extend that net to everything.

I don't get the outrage here, the sport is rife with corruption, morally ambiguous or ignorant occurrences, blatant disregard for minorities, money grubbing without a care where the money come from etc. I haven't even heard of this lt, and frankly couldn't give a sh*t if they want to pay stupid amounts of money, it has very little effect on anything in football or out of it as far as I can tell. 

Arsenal, the great moral heroes of football, are sponsored by Emirates and have an agreement with Rwanda for f**ks sake.

Its a sponsor - I mean our last one wanted to leave us high and dry to take their own morale high ground.  I'm fine with a one year deal - get better performances on the pitch and then some other marquee brands may come along.  My only gripe is the font size on the shirt - hopefully not obnoxious

Don't care about the moral side of things with this sponsor. Nike has been our sponsor for years now and they don't have a good history when it comes to being moral, where is the outrage about that? 

My biggest concern is that these owners of ours could only find a temporary deal. It's very concerning. It shouldn't be this difficult to find a long term sponsor for a club like ours. The fact that these owners couldn't find one good enough suggests that sponsors don't value us as highly as they did only a year ago.

Is there anything they have done yet that hasn't had us concerned? can we say one single decision they have made that really paid off in the past year?

I mean just yesterday we released Bakayoko where under the previous regime Marina kept f**king offering him an extension for being sh*t.

Apparently our owners have very good relationships with Saudi and the PIF. Especially Clearlake.

I posted this in The Other Teams thread but wanted to repeat here due to all the negativity surrounding Boehly and Clearlake. 

The posts of well only compete once Boehly sells are pretty ridiculous. The difference is we are not a state backed side, and that is material. 

I think we all underestimate the impact the sanctions had on the club. The entire organization, almost every position in the club has turned over. Ultimately this manifests in the rubbish we saw on the pitch. 

You can’t fault their investment and desire. Boehly and team have made some naive decisions, quite a few really and some continue (Stake is not ideal), but it’s early days. Pochettino is a good appointment, and if we can get Caicedo we have the makings of a good team coming together. I’m excited. 

Hypothetically is the PIF bought Clearlake, then they could take over our club too. Wonder what Uefa/FA would think of that if it happened.

Pretty sure PIF/Saudi are already investors in Clearlake. Not sure how much stake they have in Clearlake though.

I honestly think Todd is gonna get it right soon. Granted there have been more than a few mistakes so far but at the end of the day he is a business man and in this business he knows they have to make a successful team to make money not just for himself but for the other investors aswell. Im really optimistic about next season and hopefully Pochettino hits the ground running.

If we are going to compete we will needed funding, and with City already and now United backed by Qatari billions we need the Saudi money and this relationship we are building with PIF, which Clearlake clearly had long before buying Chelsea.

Also let's not forget Chelsea's relationship with Jorge Mendes and that he was desperate to find a bidder to make Wolves happy for Neves and low and behold he is off to Saudi, which I think was a favour we called in for him.

My guess on those 4 players IF they agree to move to Saudi:

 

Aubameyang first, free transfer. (5mill book value loss)

Ziyech next for 30mill (19mill book value profit)

Mendy for 20mill (10.4mill book value profit)

Koulibaly for 40mill (13.6mill book value profit)

 

However given Neves few is 47mill pounds those fees may be way lower than the actual as, arguably, each of our 4 players have bigger reputations than him and therefore bring more eyes to the Saudi league.
