The match-day thread is a sewer.

It's non-stop negativity. Saw one post accusing someone of "brownnosing" for agreeing with me, instead of him/her/whatever. Dear oh dear.

Match threads bring out the worst in some brave keyboard warriors. Not going there again anytime soon.

To be fair Poch to Potter only requires a few letter changes ;). With that in mind keep a look out for a new handle in future "TimesUpPocha" 😉

One thing I do take guilty pleasure is in is whenever we have a poor start to the game that turns out good (ala Liverpool last week) I always check out a certain few profiles after the game.

99.9% of the time their involvement in the match threads stops around the time we score and/or assert control of the game.

Didn't read for Chelsea vs Liverpool, made a mistake hopping in there during this game. Probably won't be hopping in for a while.

Can understand why fans are fed up but people are writing the season off after two games, at this point we may aswell sack Pochettino, buy a brand new team, and whatever else.

The Liverpool and West Ham fixtures I knew were going to be awkward, and missing Nkunku is a serious blow to things, and it's taken a while to get our two DM's with one of them barely able to play.

Not to mention how many players are sh*t now, Enzo is overrated and a flop, Caicedo is a flop, Disasi is a flop, Colwill should go back on loan, I've seen all these comments so far multiple times by people. It's just ridiculous... Give it some time first before jumping on this.

Match threads on here have been the same for ages, full of bellends desperate to prove they are the bestest fan by showing they are the angriest and hate more about the club than everyone else.

If we arent winning 5-0 after 10 minutes then every player is sh*t, the manager is sh*t, the club is sh*t, the badge is sh*t, the tea lady is sh*t, the grass is sh*t......its so tedious.

Maybe I'm just blindly optimistic but I look at our performances compared to that of United, for example, and we look so much better.

Last year we looked like a team that had no idea what is was working towards or what would happen next.

In these first two games we've looked like a group getting to grips with each other and how we are going to play. Fine margins have prevented us being 2 wins from 2 laughing at how far we have come. We dominated Liverpool in spells and if Enzo coverts the penalty then we probably go on to win comfortably again West Ham. I can barely remember a successful pass from the backend of last year.

We've a decent little run of games now to hopefully gain some confidence and momentum before things take a bit of a turn fixture wise, so lets see where we sit in the next few weeks.

With all of this said, if anyone genuinely expected us to be back at the top based on the numbers we have spent I would suggest you close twitter, switch off Sky and come back to reality. The only EXPECTATION can be Europe (of any kind). Sure, there's a chance we have a great year and somehow challenge (So could Luton, who knows), but we can't expect it and neither should the media.

Spending money is never an indicator of success, especially in as short a time as we have. They'll tell us we've spent a billion so should be winning the league. But we've spent it on young, developing players. If that's right or wrong, we'll find out in a few years time. Let them rave about Spurs' new system, Arteta's title winning squad or City winning the quad. It's impossible to know where a team is based on the first few weeks. I thought we were winning the league last summer and Tuchel was gone before I went on my holiday.

Make a drink, grab a seat and enjoy the ride. You may as well because you can't get off and its only just started.

That is why I rarely contribute in that thread, all a bunch of oxygen thieves, with an almost Bin-dipperesque sense of entitlement, I freely admit I’ve only really been a fan since about 96, but I know what ha is real enough…

But very rowdy, and a bit of a bullying process, if you dare utter something the fanboys or haters hate, I’ve earns my right to ‘Mouth off’ when I choose, but I’m happy to observe from up in the Gods, and rain down thunderbolts on worthy causes, lol😎😎😎

You make sense but I'm just depressed. Injuries + another game we should be winning, just makes me feel like it's a rollercoaster only going in one direction.

And it feels like we've gambled everything on it going up.

For anyone who's having trouble getting to grips with the negativity. We ended last season this way and so far this season there's been a continuation of it with no wins in two games.

It's 5 wins (25 points) over a 31 game period or pure relegation numbers in other words. This is absolutely not about expecting 5-0 wins and football thats out of this world. But the standards have dropped to such an extent and yes, for very close to a full year we have been looking like a side that's desperately trying to avoid the Championship. And i'm sorry but for that there are no excuses considering we were fighting for almost every trophy as recent as 2021 and 2022.

Amount of videos that pop up while I go looking for news about how we are "incompetent ". Lot of angry fans/pundits revelling in it.

I understand the negative feeling some have on here though, not just joined trolls but long standing members disillusioned with how things are going.

Not got over what the UK Gov did, and were able to do, to the club myself.

Yeah it makes for horrible viewing but I won't justify negativity around 2, arguably solid, performances under a new manager based on a series of results from last season which came under an inexperienced full time manager and two interims.

If we just sit on our backsides and say "Ah f**k it, lets be negative because last year was negative" what will ever change

Edit: And to add to this, we may have been competing for trophies as recently as 2022 but we've had squad issues that have been papered over for years and that's what we are paying the price for now.

A page of optimistic Shed Enders !

I avoid the match threads until after the results now for a longtime not bc of so called impatient plastics but so I speak my mind not react

Hate to break it to you all but last season has morphed into a continuation of last - lots of spending but not on key positions in 1st team squad , injuries, only exception is a proper coaching team has been put into place. If you want to wait a few more years to witness the result of the new owners massive financial gamble fair enough - success on pitch reaping financial rewards to recoup massive investment or insolvency ?

I prefer a more conservative rebuild not wholesale demolition and replacement in 2 seasons, only time will tell which approach will work but in the meantime may I suggest the Twitter glory hunters are entitled to their opinion ?

I would never wish to deprive anyone, twitter glory hunter or not, of their opinion. I'm sure others will more passionately dispute those who wish to provide a negative view on the current situation.

I would simply encourage positive thought and a slight bit of patience given that we are in a new season, even though you are correct in suggesting similar mistakes have been made already regarding transfer. Financial/strategic gamble or not, our transfer business is our transfer business and our squad is our squad. We don't have much choice other than to try and get behind the team.

You have to accept, that with the management changes, and wholesale player changes, we are effectively a totally new team. Last season was a total clusterf**k. But you cannot compare this season to last season as too much has changed. It will take 6 to 8 weeks at least, for the team to really start to gel. Injuries alone have really thrown a spanner in the works. The performace of the first 2 games has been overall pretty good. Not the results we'd want. But i never expect to beat Loonypool, a draw is the best we could ever hope for. West Ham have always been for some time a dodgy fixture for us, but for the penalty miss i strongly believe we would have won that game. But right from the start Poch couldn't field what he thought was his strongest 11. Things will improve, but you can't click your fingers and expect perfection, it does take time.

The transfer strategy, is a gamble, but until a couple of years have passed, nobody is in any position to say if it's working or not.

Last season was a sh*tshow, but you don't come out of a slump like that overnight. People are too quick to be negative and write the team off, give it a few months at the very least, it's been two games and I think there have been obvious improvements from those two games compared to last season. Nothing spectacular sure, but again it's two games, it's not enough to assume we're going to be in for a disastrous season.

I don't know how people can expect instant success given our current situation.

We've spent a full billion on a brand new squad and there are more issues with this one than we had before we spent a billion and that's just a fact. In my opinion you can start from the back and you'll find major issues all the way to the front. We've somehow spent £40 million now on Sanchez & Petrovic to somehow downgrade in the goalkeeping area, we spent £40 million to downgrade on Chalobah and you can go on and on.

I'm all for having faith and ultimately I think we will end up doing a bit better than last season this year. But there's issued everywhere with this squad and even with time it will simply not be god enough to compete for anything important in my opinion and that is not good enough at this club. And yeah we may not have a God given right to win anything and we should be thankful for everything we have experienced over the years but that does not mean we need to be thankful if the owners and directors tears the club up by its roots under their stewardship of it.

But how can you possibly know? We're two games in! This is the whole point.

Chalobah was/is a decent squad player. Who have we signed that isn't?

Sanchez hasn't had a great start, granted, but Petrovic (last I saw) hasn't even entered the country. How do we even possibly know that they won't end up settling well and coming good?

Yes, on the surface £1b spent and you look at our squad. It doesn't add up, I won't dispute that. But our transfer policy in the years leading up to Boehly and Co taking over left us with a squad of players signed as ready made stars/starters that ended up out on loan, with us covering part of their extortionate wages to play for a different team and no one wanting to buy them permanently. Some players are still here today!

I'm not saying that what we are doing is the best plan, or that it will even work. But why give up on it after two weeks?

I'm writing us off.

And I know people will say it's only been 2 games but I wrote us off for even challenging for a top 6 spot even before a ball was even kicked this season.

I wrote us off for the same reason we have all wrote Luton and Sheffield off for winning the title this year,  the squad just isn't good enough there's very little actual quality in it.

Our squad is the biggest lump of dogsh*t I can recall a top club ever possessing and it's genuinely shocking to me how we could end up with such a poor squad given the money we've spent on it.   How can you spend a billion pounds and have 2 of the worst keeping options in the league?  A 39 year old centre back in a squad built for a back 4?  Next to no players who actually score goals?

I just can't believe how we've managed to spend so much money on making the squad worse,  since Boehly came in we've made in my opinion 3 good signings and all 3 are completely unproven but they're players I think have the talent to grow into real quality players for us.

The rest?  It's reads like a who's who of the most overpriced transfers of all time.
