They will put up Colwill & James to balance the books.. 😂

On today's performance I doubt many would be worried about Colwill being sold ;).

Unsurprisingly he still looks raw and inexperienced. I think once Badiashile is available, he would be expected to start ahead of both Colwill and Disasi.

Mr Boehly seems to be extremely talented in wasting money.

Cucurella and Mudryk: total waste of money, they aren't worth anything.

Caisedo: of course it's too early to say, but today he looked more like a 5 mill pound player than a 100 mill.

Fernandez: He is far far away from being a 100 mill pound player

I still think we'll get it right but

But all the " fans " rubbishing our players ?

Just remember how we cleverly exploited that loophole?

We've got most of those players for a very long time , so f**king get behind the players, the manager and the team

Come on you BLUES !

It's really disheartening seeing people switch their views in the span of less than 45 mins

I'd respect someone more more if they stuck to one view but some of the people calling Caicedo sh*t are the same people that were pissed at the board when he almost joined Liverpool

Is anybody on here calling Caicedo sh*t though? A lot are saying he was sh*t today, and he was, but that doesn't suddenly mean we think he is a sh*t player overall.

There are definitely a lot of people in the Matchday thread questioning his signing and saying Brighton got one over us etc. I think there's a big difference between people like you who give constructive criticism vs the usual people flip-flopping their views every week base don knee-jerk reactions.

Until we figure out how to score more than one goal a game, we’re going absolutely nowhere and will do well to even be top 10. Forget champions league, forget top  6.  It’s been like this for 60-70 games now - it’s so poor.

Goals win games and cover all manner of sins. We don’t score goals. Simple as. Our attackers have zero bottle, and haven’t since Hazard.

This is why Nkunku was so important. A lot thought we would be able to cope without him, but we won't. He is everything to our attack, the same way Hazard ended up being everything. I don't want it to be all on one player, but it is, and we have lost that player through injury before he can even kick a ball for us.

Careful,  Enzo is beyond criticism

Well we look pretty lightweight up top, Sterling was electric, Mudryk looked Mud, and you haven’t heard me slag Enzo or Caceido anywhere, I said we could of better invested maybe up front, I think Enzobis a fabulously gifted player btw..

If we are relying on one player then what’s the point.

I don't either, he did however do a great impression of him for selection and second half abysmal performance though. Maybe Potter did the half time team talk.

I'm fully bought into the long term goal, and I think Pochettino is the right man. A couple of concerns though.

Young players need minutes, we have such a young squad, that there are young players that are barely developing, as they are not regular. Mudryk was awful, and has been awful but following on from a promising preseason, he has been getting bit part cameos, and Chilwell actually played in his position today. It seems a contradiction to not be using the likes of Mudryk more often.

2nd point, is that Poch is talking of title charges, however despite spending nearly £1billion, we have very few goal scorers, and the one we did sign is out for 4 months. Just as last season it's hard to see where the goals come from. Jackson is a handful but I dont see him scoring more than 10/12, just doesnt look a natural finisher imo, obviously early days.

Really poor 2nd half today, but hopefully Poch stops playing this weird hybrid, and goes back to what we were doing preseason, and we get a couple more players in that can influence things more regularly in the final 3rd.

Agreed. But in that case our whole attacking plan was built around a player who had already been known to have some injury issues. Hopefully he will have better luck with injuries in future but I think we still have to get a decent alternative. Broja is also just returning from a long term injury and a risk in that sense. We need to prioritize a player that can be a reliable source of goals, and not one that we plan to buy and ship out on loan straight away.

Chilwell wasn't really playing in Mudryk's position. It is more the way the full backs are expected to play when we are attacking in this system. If we play 5 at the back though it means we only have 2 true forwards (Sterling and Jackson started today). Carney was the attacking midfielder and I don't think Mudryk offers another defensively in that role. So in our current system he would be competing with Sterling, unless we go 4 at the back and play another wide forward. I think/hope we will see that approach in our next few home games.

Problem with the long term goal is our spending adds huge pressure for immediate success.

If we limited ourselves to players like Jackson and Badiashile, along with talents like Santos and Angelo,  and we show a clear desire for patience we can build a team that slowly gets better over the years.

But when you spend near a billion on players in 3 windows, including 2 record signings, you don't get that time. The fans demand more, media, sponsors, board etc.

Imagine we miss out on top 4. Our own @Argosaid top 4 is bare minimum. He won't be the only one. If we don't make top 4 the press to sack Pochettino will be immense as we have put an unprecedented amount of pressure on ourselves, making failure not an option that will be accepted imo because the financial cost will be too high.

True that, regardless of signing potential or proven players, there needs to be some kind of return this season. There are enormous pressure on the manager to deliver with a Midfield more expensive than other teams put together. Poch is a very good manager, but even he could use some help with proven qualities. He's not going to complain or anything, but we all know when results not coming, the manager is the one coping the consequences.

"Trust in the process" is coming up again.

Think it is our version of the old "next year will be your year" the scousers got for many years before Klopp finally got them the title.
